  1. I say stick with the outside reception and enjoy the atmosphere it creates. It was super windy for my wedding and it really didn't bother anyone at all. We had pashminas for the ladies and the men never got cold anyway. If you're having a DW, outside is the way to go as long as there's no rain or you have a tent!!
  2. I would definately not invite people to the shower who aren't invited to the actual wedding. If they had just chosen not to attend the wedding then that would be different. If they weren't close enough for the wedding then they aren't close enough for the shower!! You don't want to insult them!

It is much more cost efficient to buy your own chair covers. You can find them for really cheap online and RIU charges way too much just to rent them. If you know of a few brides who will be there at the same time as you or just around your date you can always split the cost and decide on a color you can both use...it worked for me! good luck!
  4. We ddin't have any mosquitos problems at RMB! I would add thought that the beach at RMB isn't the greatest but it's a great atmosphere for a group of people. Nice size resort! I loved that I didn't have too far to go to look for people. We wouldn't go back just cause of the beach but everything else was perfect. Definately a tough decision...I would look into Negril if I were to go back (Riu Tropical Bay). - sorry that didn't help your decision either!! It may have less retaurants than ROR but we didn't get bored with the food at all. We also ran across to the Burger King across the road which was even yummier than North American Burger King!! so yummy! It is pretty far away from Ocho and Negril though. We did one excursion that kept us right in Montego Bay and we had a blast snorkelling and Margaritaville. I don't think you can go wrong with either ROR or RMB so maybe you should base it on price?
  5. I already had mine here in NS but I didnt make it very fancy...i shopped mostly at the dollarstore and micheals too but if you have any questions, jsut let me know!

I totally know what you mean about wanting your guests to have the time of their lives too. My advice is to spend your $$ on things that they'll remember rather than the small things to make the wedding pretty. Your wedding will be gorgeous no matter what! The thing our guests remember most and most appreciated most was us booking an excursion for everyone the day after our wedding. we made it optional and everyone except for one couple came with us. we did the catamaran excursion with snorkelling and margaritaville and it was a blast. even those who didn't want to snorkel admit that it was the best part of the whole trip. It's the things you do while you're there that make it fun...not how decorated things were. I'm sure no one will look back and say...ohhh, weren't those sashes gorgeous? but they will say...remember the day we all stayed on the beach and played crib...or hung out by the pool and told jokes...etc. it will be a memorable trip for everyone, no matter what!! good luck!

Is that the reason why so many people talk about the drug dealers on the beach. I am not looking forward to having my mom be approached if you know what I mean. At any rate, who has the best pictures and info for RMB. I have actually been taking notes re: all of you guys this site has been a God send. I really wouldn't worry about the drug dealers! Not one of my guests were approached by any of them. There are vendors that walk through the water on the beach but they won't even say anything to you if you ignore them. The only people they talk to are the ones who want to be talked to. They're harmless. As for the airport...yup you will hear airplanes but they don't start until later in the morning and end early enough at night that it doesn't interrupt sleep. I actually thought they were kinda cool and ended up either ignoring them(or not noticing them) or watching them fly by cause they were so cool. don't let it bother you! they're really not a big deal! as for who has the best pics/info I have no idea who is around here now. things have changed since i was there. new WC's, new arch for the beach, etc. So my advice is to just keep checking on here. you'll eventually find everything you need!
  8. Yes, you can just bring your ipod and if you have a private beach reception you do have the option on using their speakers for music.
  9. I know that for me here in Canada I don't have to do anything else...only to change my name. I only know what I've read on other posts that it's the same for the US...as far as I can tell anyway. I know it's not much help but hopefully it'll reassure you for a bit until someone else can let you know for sure.
  10. Yes RMB does have a contract with Photoshop which is also the photographer the deal with. They also offer videos which we were going to go with until one of our guests offered to put a video together for us and we opted for that since it was free! If you go to the thread with important links for RMB you should be able to find the contact information for Micheal (the head photographer) and contact him for prices. Hope that helps!.... found his website, here it is best images
  11. I actually cried one night about 1 month before my wedding because I felt like my dress was too plain Jane. My intention from the beginning was to get something simple but I was afraid I went too simple and I wasn't going to feel like a bride. No worries though...as soon as my jewelry was one and I had my shoes on and my hair done, I felt so great and I go the same feeling aobut the dress as I had the first time I tried it on. I really didn't think it could happen but I felt beautiful on my wedding day and I loved and still love my dress! Good luck and I'm sure it will all be great. You will get that feeling back! Don't worry!

To be honest I wasn't that impressed in September- there were a few things going on, the island was surrounded by hurricanes (although the weather was great!)and they had many guests that the resort originally didn't plan for, but were relocated from Jamaica. add that to the holiday and it created a situation where they were a little short staffed. I can say that I didn't hear any guests complain and everyone I talked to were loving it - I'm just spoiled because I know how good Sandals can be!! I do have to say that in December my stay was AMAZING! Sandals Royal Bahamian added these wonderful lounge areas with firepits- OMG- they light them at dusk, they were so romantic and if it's chilly they bring you blankets to snuggle under! They also added a pizzaria that was pretty good where they make your 6" pizza to order-yummy! Sandals Royal Bahamian also re- did the entertainment area, added these comfy loungers and chairs and pretty much gave the entire area a face lift. it's very South Beach feeling now. I loved the room that I was in, it was located back in the Royal village area, and truly was picture perfect with my patio surrounded by lush vegatation - the room was large, comfortable and clean and came with full concirge service! I loved that area of the resort as the way it's set up, many of the rooms felt more like private villas than a hotel. I also had a pool right in front of my room that almost seemed like it was for our use only- it was fairly hidden and our patio was the only one that opened up to it. The staff cleaned it every day and also placed fresh towels there daily! This last time I also had a massage done on the private island-it's what I imagine heaven to be like! The water is soooo blue there and the private island makes you feel like you have it all to yourself. They have a pool with a swim up bar & a restaurant and then facing out to the Caribbean sea are sun loungers and a few palapas and then set back in the shade are these fantastic beach beds. I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed with a stay there! I'm so excited you loved it cause I just booked a trip for DH and I over Christmas! Can't wait!
  13. just booked my trip for December 19th so if you want me to do some investigating while i'm out there let me know!

The reception wasn't that important to me so we just all hung out at the exodus bar and by the pool all night, it was a nice relaxing evening and then we all went on a big excursion the next day which is what we considered our reception. that was the best cost decision we made about the wedding because every one of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the excursion andagreed that it was the best way to celebrate our wedding. let me know if you want me to get a hold of Marshall1980!! I'll give it a try!

Chantelle isn't the wedding coordinator there anymore but they have 2 new ladies there now that are doing quite a good job...do I dare say even better than Chantelle?!..there's 2 of them so it's got to be easier!
  16. You're lucky cause when I booked my wedding and then found this site RMB wasn't even open yet so we were anxiously awaiting the first BDW bride to get married! We were grasping at anything to get information. There are quite a few reviews on here for RMB so I hope they help you. Here's mine http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41560 the wedding coordinators have changed and I think they use palm leaves now instead of the bamboo arch on the beach for the ceremony but other than that I think everything is pretty much the same. Good luck and happy planning! and remember, in the end all that matters is that you are marrying the man of your dreams. your wedding day will be perfect no matter what cause you can't get any better than the turquoise water and white sand beach as a backdrop.
  17. I'm laughing at myself right now cause I'm questioning whether or not I know what a bolero is...lol If you mean the lace sleeve thingy I think it's beautiful. I guess depending on the extra cost I would go with it. When to wear it?...not sure. For a beach wedding i'd probably keep it off for the ceremony and then maybe wear it for your dinner and reception. Let's see what everyone else thinks!
  18. Lilpaisley hasn't been around here in a long time! but the rest of us will gladly help you out with anything...keep up that posting and reading threads! you'll have more points than you know what to do with in no time!
  19. Congratulations to both of you! You will not be disappointed and us RMB brides are more than willing to help out as much as we can. You've actually gotten through the most stressful part of a DW so now it's smooth sailing from here! All the rest is just extras! (except for your dress of course!)

Hi! and Welcome to the forum! The reason you can't access any attachments is because the forum requires you to have points in order to open attachments. They want to make sure you are being an active member. You can get points by reading threads, posting (like you did here), or starting your own thread. There is actually a thread on how to collect points that you should read before trying to start your own thread though cause there are rules....sounds complicated but it really isn't....oh and you're not supposed to ask someone to send you stuff, you're just supposed to wait till you have enough points. hope that helps!
  23. These are some I found a while back and already had them uploaded onto photobucket so they were easy for me to post. I know one of them is brown but you can see how it would work with turquoise too... I actually had my girls carry a single long white calla lily and I thought it was really nice...they liked it too. I know someone else who had a bouquet of 3 calla lilies and that was pretty too. There are lots of options!
  24. If I were to go to Jamaica again I'd probalby do Negril cause I hear the beaches are better there. Our beach at RIU MoBay was great until you got in the water...lots of plants growing and you couldn't enjoy the water. I didn't see a whole lot of kids while I was there. They certainly didn't get in our way! Actually now that I think about it there was one little guy bugging the hell out of us by the pool bar. He kept jumping in from behind where we were sitting and splashing us every 2 minutes. not fun. Other than that though we pretty much stayed away from the kids. I guess cause there were no kids in our group we didn't really notice anyone else's. If I had a child though I think I would've been more aware of them but it really wasn't on my mind at all. I don't think I help much! There was a place to drop off kids and I saw them every day but they kept pretty quiet. good luck!
  25. Can anyone please help me in understanding the picture process! sure! I looked at the price list but was a little confused. Here are my main questions; Do you automatically get all of photos on CD free but just with the watermark or do you have to pay for them regardless if they have a watermark or not? - you get the photos with the watermark for no charge. it's included when you pay for your package with him. If you take the CD home and decide to get pictures later do you get charged shipping and handling in addition to the base price of the print? - yes!- we got out of it cause they messed up with our wedding but yeah, it's quite a heafty charge I think. Lastly any advice on how long to have him for? My cousin who is planning on attending just graduated with a photo journalism degree, but I am a little worried about how good she is and what the pictures might look like to rely on her for all of the pics. - totally know what you mean. I had him for 3 hours and it was just enough. If I were to do it again I'd have him for longer (like 4 hours) but if you have your cousin there you shouldn't need him for very long....i'd say get him for after the ceremony cause we found that our guests took great shots of the ceremony. the shots that we like from our photog are the ones taken after the ceremony. hope that helpls!
