Amazing! Elizabeth Medina Photography Trash the Dress Photographs -
Just read the fine print and determine how much the deductible is. I think I will be getting wedding insurance as well.

I booked the ballroom so I hope it doesn't rain for whoever else is getting married on the same day. Other news, my fiancee bought her dress today. She was lucky too because there was some sale going on that knocked off another $100 and also her designer is apparently raising the prices after this weekend by 15%!?? So we saved some loot!

Ouch! Something to keep in mind... let us know what you find out. Hey Steph. I went to TripAdvisor to search the forums on luggage scams. The info I got was nothing recent with the last post in 2006. From what I gathered there was confusion with some passengers where their airlines told them 50lb limit and they had no problems going to Mexico. However on the way back home the limit is suddenly 44lbs. But they were only charged $25 US once, not per pound. I guess just clarify the limits with your airline. There are some other extreme cases that go on but the example above was the most common problem. Some called it a scam and others a misunderstanding. Anyway I will ask my fiancee more info since her patient is coming in again today.

Nice post by lolkitteh. Hey if tradition is so important, then my fiancee's family should front the bill right? Just Kidding! -
Here is another good article Playa del Carmen: Is it Safe?? Luna Blue’s PlayaZone Also my fiancee's patient just came back from Playa yesterday. And she has gone there about 4 times in the last 6 years. Here is a summary of what she said -she didn't know about a travel advisory before she went -she said when she was there 'the army' was based in playa del carmen -she said they were showing presence especially on 5th -she found out what was happening when she was there from people talking etc -she said she didn't go off the resort really (Only to playa del carmen shops etc)... -said it is very commercialized now -it's the fastest growing vacation spot, lots of jewelry stores etc.... -she said the weather was good -1 thing other thing she said was she thinks there was a little scam on the way home and she's looking into it; when still in mexico she said the airport was charging $20USD for EVERY lb over 44lbs. Lots of people were getting charged this fee left and right at the airport and she never saw this before

Dollar Dance? Heard of it?

If everyone understands what it's about I guess it's ok. If you do have guests not familiar with the culture I would suggest you have an announcement and explain to them what it's about so it doesn't look like a blatant money grab. I have been to many filipino weddings and the non filipinos didn't know what it was about and felt awkward and obligated to do it. Personally, it's not for me and I definitely wouldn't do it even I got married at home. -
Shay thanks for the info. We are just doing the reception at the Royal and no wedding package so I guess we have to pay. That's cool as long as the service is available. But totally agree with you about bringing it on board. I am telling my groomsmen and all the bridesmaids to do the same just in case. Also those are awesome invites! I commend you on the great work. I really wanted to do my own but I am way too busy to do it. It's so much better to do it on your own because you do it exactly the way you want and probably save a lot too.

I think we will have 50 people minimum and a few performances like ours but with more people (ie group performance). I emailed Zulma to see what the standard/default size they give. Hopefully they can accommodate. If anyone has more pics of the ballroom at the Royal please post 'em. The only good shots I have seen were from Elizabeth Medina's blog.

I suppose I'll just keep on. My TA and I did a follow up email today and my TA said she will call tomorrow if we don't hear anything. I think it is "standard" operating procedure. Even the church took 2 weeks to get back to me to confirm they received my down payment. I was pretty frustrated with the wait.

When you say you got it "in writing" do you mean just by email or did they give you some sort of written contract. Zulma has been telling me the same things as she is telling you but I only have it documented in emails. Hope that is sufficient?!?!

Two questions 1) How big is this dance floor? I booked the ballroom. I need a big space and not the vertical shape they have in the pictures I have seen. Do you know if this can be reconfigured. I can't seem to get a clear answer on this. As an example here is my fiancee and I dancing in a competition. We need this size because we would like to perform this routine or something similar for our guests and also our other friends would like to perform as well MnG Competition Routine 2) So the outside vendor fee for photographer/videographer is $100. Does this cover their meals as well or do we have to pay extra for thatl? Thanks in advance.

I know email is slow but I would hope that she would be quick to at least say she got my payment.... It took me almost 2 weeks to get confirmation. I had to call the head office in the US to make sure. How did you do it through Credit Card? I had to go to the bank and wire money and pay retarded service fees on top of that.

It's part of my culture as well and I think it's tacky. I know friends who have done it and made a lot of $. It even paid for one couple's honeymoon. I just don't participate in it whenever I see it. -
TA too steep ??

You know, one TA may think that making $100 pp is fair, while another might think $200 pp is a better amount to make...all depends. I shopped around for my TA the way I shop around for everything else ! Nice...will definitely try that then. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess -

Just do your research and check out obritz they give out coupons alot. I received 200$ off my total as well for using them. So far I am seeing the same thing. TA's are way overpricing everything. With the way the economy is and just looking at the travel sites, the trend is LOWER prices overall. It's ludicrous the prices these TA's are asking. I am going to wait it out as well.
