  1. I am still waiting also. They told me wait till end of May. Now they are saying end of June.
  2. I have all the account information if you want it. PM me, but also contact Carmita to verify before you do send it. 2000MXN is the deposit and another 2000MXN 60 days before the wedding.
  3. Nuestra Señora del Carmen Calle 12 Bis / 15 y 20 Av. # 1 CP.77710 Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mex. Tel. (984) 87-30-188 Ask for Carmita, otherwise Rosa. igdelcarmen (AT) gmail (DOT) com
  4. Congrats Michelle! I need to see pics of this swim up suite. I think I need to get that and host my own party when I am there How was everything on 5th avenue? Was it quiet or were all the establishments open? Trentlaw you are gonna have one kick ass party! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!
  5. Thanks. Would you happen to know Fr. James hours? Rosa from Nuestra Senora Del Carmen (NSDC) told me he is not part of their church but he can do masses in English and can do them at the NSDC. She gave me his number but all I get is his voicemail.
  6. Try using the search function for more info Here are a few threads to get you started http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21586 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23916 I am choosing both the Royal Playa Del Carmen and Gran Porto Real for my guests. The latter for people with kids and on a tighter budget.

I liked that it was central to all the fun and downtown, close enough to the ferry to cozumel and absolutely gorgeous on the resort for the FI's family who doesn't like to leave the property. I am really looking forward to the wedding there...should be quite nice! Same as these 2 girls. Been to Playa before and had to cab it to the town every night which was a pain. Being so close to 5th was one of the main reasons for me. Royal is upscale and adults only which is perfect. But I also booked the Gran Porto Real, the sister resort for those with kids and on a tighter budget.
  8. Thanks. I just got all my documents in 2 days: baptismal, first communion and confirmation. Now just gotta do the pre-cana classes. Now the only difference is that Nuestra Senora Del Carmen is telling me I can just scan my docs and email it to them and just bring the originals when I go there while I have been reading I have to mail it to them 60 days before the ceremony.
  9. I am reviving this because some things have changed on my end. My deacon can no longer make it for personal reasons so now I have to find a priest who can speak english and also verify if they are available on the date/time I originally booked. Which priest are you guys all using? What times was he available to do the wedding? What is the cost? Thanks
  10. "You must have a CURRENT and original copy of your Baptism certificate. By current, I mean, it can not be the copy that your mom has from the day you were baptized." Original and current meaning they will issue you a brand new one?
  11. Is Father Bernard Quinn the priest who conducts the wedding ceremonies at the Capilla at the Nuestra Senora Del Carmen?
  12. Maybe Expedia.ca (I am from Canada) CSRs are nicer/better than Expedia.com CSRs because I have had problems that were resolved each time. Even with little problems like getting my seats together with whoever I am traveling with when the website didn't have that option, Expedia.ca would take care of it or at least show me in the right direction to resolve that issue. Anyway if anyone can recommend other companies please do so. I am always open to suggestions.

I cancelled one of my trips the same day Katrina hit in Florida and I got a full refund.
  14. Sucks to hear I have never had a problem and I have been to so many places around the world. I am a minimalist though and try not to be too flashy nor carry much valuables. That's just asking for trouble anyway.
  15. How much is the deductible typically? I have invested about $1000 in down payments/deposits for the vendors, booking the reception, church etc.
  16. I guess the point is wedding insurance is a very good idea and should be seriously considered as islandbride pointed out. This year is swine flu, next year it could be chihuahua flu, the year after will be the end of the world Mayan bug...so who knows what could happen that could screw with your plans.
  17. I wonder how long does prior knowledge lasts? I am getting married next year and I am hoping this dies down. A hurricane hit a few years ago and could possibly happen again so how do they gauge that?
  18. Wow I really feel for you ladies. As a guy I rarely share my emotions to anyone outside my fiancee but I have to say I am TRULY TRULY sad and devastated for you all. There is nothing anyone can say or do that will make you feel better about this tragic situation. I was already pissed off with the drug situation giving Mexico a bad name and now this epidemic has to come along. They seem to be taking this virus way more serious than SARS with all these cancellations. I know many friends in the health industry and they are saying this is no joke so hard to say if media is really exaggerating or not. Initially I thought SARS was way overblown with people walking around Toronto with masks, but my fiancee knew someone close to her family who died from it too so who am I to say it was exaggerated. Taking this experience in I am now seriously considering getting wedding insurance. I already put about $1000 down payment for the church, the reception, photographer/videographer and other things. Do any of the Canadians here recommend any companies in Canada that offer Destination Wedding Insurance? I have seen some companies but they only offer insurance if the wedding is in Canada. I'll keep praying and hoping for you ladies!!!!
  19. With the Swine Flu epidemic I am looking at getting Wedding Insurance. I wouldn't want to lose all my deposits and all the other $ I put in. Anyone know of a Canadian Company that offers destination wedding insurance. I have only seen them cover Weddings in Canada.
  20. Would wedding insurance cover a cancellation due to something like the Swine Flu? I am definitely going to get it if this is the case because I am reading a lot of people getting screwed because of this incident.

  22. Cecilia was on my short list as well. I didn't end up choosing her, but she was very professional and prompt with her replies. Have only heard great reviews from everyone who has used her.
  23. I booked him for next year as well. Can't wait to be on Bluray
  24. I am so sorry for all of us. Just found out my fiancee's patient is getting married in Mexico in June and most of her guests are backing out now and they would rather lose their money than risk their health. So she is trying to go to the travel agent and do a switch of location. She is stressed out obviously.
