  1. I felt that since I had picked a resort where is it $191pp per night plus they had to pay for their air fare, I wanted to make sure that the dresses were under $150. I ended up finding super cute dresses at David's Bridal that came to $120 after tax. I felt that it was a fair price and I still picked up the tab for the girls shoes. I do feel that $200 is high after asking them to pay their way. Of course they expect to buy their dresse and shoes but maybe you could pick up some of the tab somewhere in their as part of the bridesmaids gifts. I mean if I was a BM I would rather have the bride buy me my outift vs. give me a gift...so that was the logic I used when buying them their shoes and jewelry instead of something else.

This is my EXACT same opinion!!! I have found a lot of people still want to give gifts and are asking where we are registered. If some people do not give us gifts, that is fine with me and if they do that is even better! When you think about it, esp for the BMs and MOH I have spent MORE $$ on going to Vegas and the ocean for their bach parties than they are spending to come to my wedding. When you go AI vs. staying at a hotel & going out in the states it is so much cheaper. I still think about how I spent over $1,000 to go to my friends 2 day long Vegas bach party and then gave her anohter $100 wedding gift not to mention the at home bach party and showers we did as well!!!
  3. I am sorry you had to deal with this. I got hit in a parking lot here in Maryalnd and when the girl would not give me her insurance info I called the cops on her. They yelled at me and told me they do not have time to deal with accidents where nobody is hurt and the cars are drivable. I ended up calling them back when the girl was trying to leave and finally they sent someone out who got her to give me her drivers licence info (she claimed to not have her insurance on her). Well I end up stalking her down over the internet and found her parents phone numbers. I called her parents and they said it was their car and she was scared they would get mad. They apologized and gave me the insurance info. I got lucky b/c after this week long ordeal of thinking I was going to have to pay for everything myself I was finally was able to get my car fixed. AND karma is a bitch b/c the guy at the repair shop was into me and agreed to put other things that were wrong with my car, that had nothing to do with the accident, on her claim hahaha I did not even feel bad after she tried to get away without paying for anything. I hope her insurance skyrocketed from all of the extra charges he added on to fix everything on my car!!!! Hopefully the same good luck will come to you.
  4. Yes girl, that sounds about right on for what I am being quoted for my wedding in Jamaica. Here is the price list she quoted me. It is SO HIGH that I am cutting out a lot...like the Moms & Dads flowers, flowers for isle, and my hair flower and BMs hair flowers. We are only going to do the arch, bouquets, and groom only boutonniere (I made starfish for everyone else), cake and the centerpieces. I am also going to get the chair ties from her as well...it seems easier then buying them cheaper and lugging them there. I found a freeze dried petal online store where it's $400 to do the ENTIRE isle and she wanted $880 to just do the sides!
  5. Great photos! You and your bridesmaids look beautiful! I am also doing fuchisa and orange but I am doing opposite, orange BM dresses, fuschia chair ties It looks so pretty with the tropical background. Your boquet is so pretty too! Congrats!

I spoke with my photographer ,who also suggested making it eariler. After thinking about it, if we make it at 4pm, if there does happen to be an afternoon shower we can deley the ceremony until it is over. Where as if we had it at 5pm, if God forbid there was a shower or other delay we would be getting hitched in the dark!!! It is so exciting to be this close to the wedding!! It is all starting to feel real now!! I was also wondering about the dress fitting. I guess I will do it in mid-OCT because any sooner I feel like I might lose weight and then have to get it refitted. Random question, where did you girls find your wedding shoes? I have yet to find any I love and the tips of them will show with my dress so it's making it very hard for me since you can actually see them!
  7. FI and I just went to Payless and got a great deal on these super nice sandals for all of the groomsmen. They are usually $25 each and we got them on sale for $13 and they were buy one get on 1/2 off, so the second pair was only $6.50. We got lucky and since they did not have all of the sizes we needed in the store they give you an extra $3 off each shoe if they have to order them in for you! So we got some of the shoes for $3.50! Here is a link to the photo of the shoe. The deal online is a little more expensive online than in the stores ($15.99 vs. $13). Hope this helps!! My wedding is in April and I'm thinking I'll have the ceremony at 4 or 4:30 to make sure we'll have enough daylight to take pictures after. Thanks for this great info!!! I am def moving my time from 5pm to 4:30 or maybe even 4:15 now. I also want to make sure we get pics with the sunlight and better to have too much than not enough. Also, my photographer had a good point that with the chance of rain pushing things back a few minutes it's better to have things eariler so we can just push them back and still have sunlight. Thanks again!!!!
  9. We also went ahead and did our legal ceremony back in January of 2009 and our wedding is December 2009, so it will be almost one year to the day since we had our first "legal" wedding. Nobody knows about us being married except for one of my bridesmaids (my best friend) and my FIs business partner. I had gotten laid off right about the time we got engaged and I really needed health insurance so we figured we would just get married in the courthouse sooner since we planned to do it before we left for Jamaica anyway. It did not feel like a real wedding at all and we do not consider ourselfs to have a had a wedding yet. The real wedding will be Dec 4, 2009!

We will get to live like the rich & famous for 5 nights! My Great Aunt left a bunch of $$ to my mom when she passed last year and my mom gave the money to pay for the honeymoon If it was not for that $$ we were looking at doing Couples in Negril since it's not as pricy but would be a change of scenery. I can't wait!!!
  11. I am having a very hard time deciding on what time to hold my ceremony. My wedding is at the Grand in Jamaica and it is during the first week (DEC 4th). My WC at the Grand is Spanish and honeslty she has never been in Jamaica during this season before. Do any of you Iberostar brides know what time you are going to hold your ceremony? She suggested 5PM but I am nervous that the sun sets early in DEC and we may not get many pics in the daylight. On the flipside the pool activities are still going on until 5PM so if we do it eariler there will be lots of people at the pool (right in front of where we are getting married). Do any of you know anything about weather patterns or sunsets in Jamaica. I have searched all over the internet and have not found anything useful.

  13. Also in that box are pens from Vistaprint with our monograms on them. I forgot to take a pic of them!!
  14. Flowers (on clearance for $2.99 a bunch of 9 blooms) and clips from AC Moore and attached using a hot glue gun. Starfish are from Roses for $2 per fish. Pins from AC Moore and attached with a hot glue gun. Fans are from Oriental Trading Co. for $9/doz and they came in random large and small sizes. We are going to do every other chair with a large then small. Also, we (yes FI helped!!) wrapped the orange ribbon ($4 per spool--used 5 for 50 fans and have 1/2 of one left over) and hot glued it to get it to stay. We will attach programs and starfish charms when they are done! 3 projects down....LOTS more to go and only 3 months to do it!!!
  15. I just bought my TTD dress off of ebay from one of those China make you the dress stores. The seller is Sexydres365 and it was only $128 including shipping! I sent her my measurments and so she is custom making it to my size for $40 more. It will take 4-6 weeks to get here and I can't wait! If I like it enough I will wear it for part of the rececption as well, since my dress is a real princess heavy dress and I may get hot. I just noticed I left of an "s" the sellers name is sexydress365 Here is a link to it: Store White Ivory Bridal Wedding Dress Size 8 10 12 14 - eBay (item 280388312708 end time Aug-29-09 11:08:52 PDT) It looks like they raised the price to $151 since I purchased mine.
  16. After much worrying I FINALLY found FI's suit!! I had ordered an Express suit off Ebay but it did not look good on him (jacket wayyyy too short) and the material ended up being too thick for the beach. I got so lucky last week at the Banana Republic Outlet! They had a bunch of tan suits and but no jackets in 42L, although they did have his size pants. I snatched them up and had the cashier call around and he found the matching jacket at a store in Atlantic City. I ordered the jacket over the phone from the AC store and prayed that it would look good on him!! Thank God, the entire suit fits him perfect and does not need any alterations! Since FI waited until now to start looking for suits, no stores here in MD were carrying tan suits anymore. I am so glad we found this as I was at the end of my rope. The jacket was $99 on sale from $260 and the pants were $50 on sale from $98. We went to Express to get the groomsmen tan pants and white shirts. We used a coupon "buy $160 get $40 off" and when I told the cashier it was for our wedding, he gave us an extra $20 off!! The white shirts (the same one as FI has on in the picture) are buy 1 get one 50% off ($4 and the pants are buy one ($50) get one for $37.50. I hope this helps any ladies doing some last minute shopping like we were! p.s Sorry FI is so angry looking...he did not want to model for our blog!! LOL
  17. I think it looks great on you. Do you have on your heels here? If not, you do need to get it altered and once the length is correct it will be beautiful on you!
  18. Did any of you ladies add anything besides just your logo to your mugs? We are ordering from 4imprint.com and they allow you to put different things on the front and back of the mug. We wanted to come up with a cute saying to put on the back. I guess we could go with the whole, "Eat drink and be married" thing but I was wondering if any of you had any more creative ideas?? We are getting married in Jamaica if that helps you think of anything??! Thanks!!!
  19. Those are amazing!! They look like $6 per invite, invites!!! You should get into a business making those!!!
  20. I would just tell them what YOU want. It's YOUR shower and if you want your shower to be both friends and family with games and all then that is what you should get! It makes me so mad when other people put in their 2 cents when it's your shower! They can decide what they want for their own showers. The shower is suppose to be about the bride and if you only want to have one then that is what you should get Good luck babe.
  21. what Ebay seller was selling them with no min? Also, what size would we need to get to fit the mugs (2 per box)?
  22. They look great and thats aweosme that you were able to paint something so custom! You are very talented!!!
  23. They look awesome!!! The Michaels by my house has gotten rid of all of their "summer flowers" and everything is fall now
