  1. I am so glad I came across this thread! You say you're "not crafty" but all of your stuff looks AMAZING! I love love love the newsletter with all of that great info in it. I will def be stealing these ideas from you Thanks for posting!!!!!
  2. I was also going to go wtih Grand Palladium.... but now, after looking at this Iberostar info, I am torn between the two!
  3. I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through right now. But why don't you wait and give it some time before you cancel. Your sister would probably want you to be happy and still have your wonderful day. You could always have a moment for her as well as a chair for her with a flower on it in her memory. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you all of the best in this sad time...my thoughs and prayers are with you and your family.
  4. Don't listen to your mom! My mom is the same way, always having an opinion based on HER taste. The dress is super amazing and very modern. It is totally flattering on you, you look thin and beautiful. It's your day, not hers!!
  5. I LOVE the jewels!!! I also think the vail looks really pretty with you hair down. Maybe you could do a 1/2 up hairstyle. Congrats b/c that dress is PERFECT for you!
  6. Congrats & Welcome from a fellow Newbie . I am also thinking about Jamaica for my wedding!
  7. I'm not sure about that..She did email me a bunch of info already (it ended up being all of the same stuff that you have posted) and in reading the info it did state that we would get a free room upgrade, if available...I am not sure on the rest of the stuff as it does not mention any of that. I would assume yes but I will ask her to confirm.

(late April). Where are you thinking about having the wedding now? We are thinking of having it at either The Grand Palladium, Rose Hall Resort, &... not really sure yet...I am trying to get a list together of properties to visit while we are there, any suggestions would be great!
  9. It is $115/pp plus tax and 10% tip. It was a little too pricey for us, so we decided to go to an AI instead.
  10. I am so sorry for your loss. That is so so sad. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
  11. I'm glad to hear that we will be able to have another option for the dinner! I LOVE seafood, but I know lots of my family members are not big fans. I totally agree about the blue & white seat covers! I already looked online for seat cushion rental companies so I can switch them out if needed. I found a couple of places that rent for $3/chair cushion. So, I figure worst case, if they don't have a rental place in Jamaica, I will bring them with me! I have a pic in my head of what the decor needs to look like and those cushions just do not fit in!! Do you know if only 1 person can have a reception at a time in each restaurant? That sucks that your time got taken I would be soo mad! If you girls think of anything you need me to look at/ask about I will be there in less than 2 weeks..so just let me know!! I can't wait!!! Sooo exciting!
  12. There is an excursion that you can sign up for that includes transportation & all you can drink to Coco Bongo. Whoever you book your vaca though should have a rep at the hotel that you can get everyone signed up with. I know our Apple Vacations rep had this Coco Bongo excursion available. Also, we just took the bus to Carlos n Charlies that had a deal $50/pp for dinner and all you can drink and no line admisson to Coco Bongo as well as all you can drink in Coco Bongo. I would totally reccomend doing this as it's way cheaper than the excursion and you get dinner too!
  13. We are heading to look at what we hope to be our wedding location (as long as the resort is great as it seems on the internet). Do any of you past Destination brides have any advice on questions that are "must ask" when we meet with the wedding coordinator? I just want to be 100% positive that everything will go smoothly on our wedding day and don't want to forget/leave out anything that may end up being really important. I really want to make sure we have the *perfect* venue. Any thoughts/questions that you can think of would be a HUGE help!! Thanks so much!
  14. Super cute! I just found Esty a few weeks ago, they have the cutest stuff on there. Burnt Orange and Fuschia are my colors also!! Such a fun & tropical combo.
  15. Congrats on picking your location!! That is soo exciting. Are you planning on having it in the garden or on the beach?
  16. When I contacted them about having my wedding at Moon Dance Villas, they said that you can have guests stay at the Cliffs and be bussed over to hang out with you at the Villas. She also said that they could do the AI plan at the Villas for the RD and Reception. That way more guests could come, even if they did not want to spend all of the $$ on a Villa. However, the catch was that you can only have double the amount of people come to the wedding as are staying in your Villa(s). So, for instance, if you had the 5 bedroom villa booked with 2 guests per room, then 10 people from the Cliffs (or any other resort) could come to the wedding. This did not end up working out for us as we want to invite more people to the wedding. We are still planning to do the honeymoon at Moondance. We just think the wedding planning would be way to stressful if we did it there. I don't want to be stressing about the # of people allowed to come to the wedding and making sure everyone really books there villa/room.
  17. Welcome, from ama fellow new Jamaica bride
  18. Thanks for all of the info!! The sunset is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We heading down to GP Oct 9th-13th to check it out. I am hoping that they have the beach location fixed up by then, since that is where I would like to have my ceremony. Do you think 50+ people could fit on the beach area? I will post pictures of the updates/repairs that they have made since the hurricane. Thanks again for the great pics and information, it helps a lot!! I feel a lot less stressed out just seeing how amazing it looks in your pics. One more thing...did you talk with her about getting a block of rooms discounted for your wedding guests? YAY! I am SOO EXCITED!!! (someone needs to make a rasta smiley icon for all of us Jamaica brides!!! lol)
  19. Has anyone stayed at and/or had their wedding at Moon Dance Villas in Negril? I am in love with this resort and just wanted feedback on the wedding. Also, if there is another Villa wedding location that you know of in Jamaica I would love to hear about it as well! Moon Dance can only hold 40 and that may be too small for us...
  20. My name is Leslie and I am from Baltimore, Maryland. We are planning on having our wedding in Negril, Jamaica in DEC 2009. We have not set an exact date as the date we wanted is taken If anyone has any questions on the Riu in Ocho Rios we stayed there last September so I can give you any information about the hotel that you may need. We actually stayed in a Suite overlooking the beach wedding area so we saw a bunch of weddings that week and it inspired us to have our wedding in Jamaica too
