My OOT Boxes!!
Sparkles8300 replied to MoKe0506's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
They look so pretty. You have the same colors as me & I love seeing it on these cute boxes. I think the ribbon makes it look very elegant and expensive. You did a very good job. I think you have all of the basics (minus the cups but if they don't fit you could always hand them out at the welcome/rehearsal dinner?). We are also burning copies of Bob Marleys CD and putting them in each bag to add a little Jamaican flavor to it. Maybe you could put some bug spray? When we stayed at the Riu Ocho Rios back in 2007 I got bit up at the nightly shows & had to buy overpriced bug spray from the hotel gift shop. Even if you don't put that in, make sure you tell your guests to bring some! Anyways, GREAT JOB! -
got so lucky yesterday at Betsey Robinson in Maryland. They just started a special where if you bring in an old bridesmaids gown they will give you 10% off of your order! I ended up finding THE DRESS there & had my mom come up with one of my old BMDs to get the discount. We ended up saving $450 after the discount for my dress and tiara. I totally forgot to take a pic of the tiara but it is a small tiara on a comb that will just sit in front of my "poof" since my hair will be 1/2 up. Austin Scarlett from Project Runway designed my dress for Kenneth Pool. I am obsessed with it! It was way over what I was planning on spending, but as soon as I put it on, I knew it was THE ONE! I wanted one that had this mermaid type of fit, since my wedding is on the beach. I had to have some bling on it too! This dress was just perfect and very light and comfortable. I am so happy to have such a modern unique dress. I could not wait to get home to post pics!!! (front view) (side view) (never mind the black clips holdng the dress back to make it my size)

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall
Sparkles8300 replied to Sparkles8300's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
The children would not be allowed. I only have 4 kids traveling with their parents and the Beach resort does offer babysittiing, so I figure for the wedding they can take advantage of the babysitter for the kids. I really did not want kids at my wedding anyways. I have seen many a wedding runied by children crying or talking!! -

Thanks, Nelly Yes! We are planning on having around 60 and she said it would be no problem. With a wedding of this size you would have to rent out the beach restaurant, similar to a site fee at home. I like that we have the ablility to do this, so it feels like a "real" wedding with no strangers sititng around and watching!

I have seen the other thread for Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, but so far there is not a thread for the Grand brides. I may be the only one right now, but I would love to hear if anyone is considering this resort and/or has booked a wedding there! I got an email from Pilar today with all of the wedding packages and extra add ons for the Grand. I will attach it so you can take a look for yourselfs. After some major drama with changing resorts, my FI and I have booked ourselfs a mini-trip to go to the Grand April 16th-19th. We want to meet with Pilar and see everything first hand so their are no suprises. The other resort we were going to get married at ended up telling us one thing and then once they opened it became something totally different. We don't want that to happen again!! I look forward to hearing from fellow Grand brides!!! WEDDING PACKAGE IRH GRAND 2009[1].doc

Hey ladies! My FI and I just booked to go to the Iberostar Rose Hall Grand for 3 nights April 16-19. So, if there is anything you girls want me to find out I would be more than happy to. I will take TONS of pics of the entire complex, it's so frustrating trying to figure all of this out with out going there...I convinced FI to take me there for my birthday! Right now we are torn betweent the resort we had booked (which is a brand new small 30 room resort in Negril) and Iberostar. Way more people have RSVP as Yes than we thought & that resort could not hold them all.

Post here if you are getting married in Jamaica
Sparkles8300 replied to boscobel's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We are thinking of changing our wedding resort to Iberostar Grand. We will be there in April to check it out. We already booked our honeymoon for Moon Dance Villas moondanceresorts.com. It is on 7 mile beach in Negril and is a private villa, very different atmosphere than the AI resorts. We already visted the property back in OCT and it was PERFECT for a honeymoon!!!! -
I am thinking of changing resorts from a resort in Negril to the Iberostar Grand in Rose Hall. I know in Negril Margart Myrtle was the go to woman to do your wedding cake. I have yet to find any recommendations of good cake vendors for Montego Bay or Rose Hall. Who are you girls using? Have you heard of any bakers that do wedding cakes comparable to ones that we could get in the states? The resort I am looking at has a super tacky looking cake that is included but there is no way I am using that. Thanks!

Super cute bags I just told my FI how we are going to be doing OOT bags for our guests & it's the first thing wedding related that he has gotten excited about! He has been online searching for mugs for the past 2 days...and he did not find anything that I liked. I LOVEEEEE your mugs!! The burnt orange is one of my colors too so I am def going to be ordering them . Did you just make the first aid kits or did you buy them premade? Everything looks very good with your monogram and all!!! Your guests are going to love them! Were you just going to leave the mugs in the shippiing box to take down there?

I am not sending out another reply card. My invites will be sent out sometime in July and those will be only for the people who I know are planning on coming. Those who responded "no" or did not mail back the first reply card and/or verbally respond "yes" will not be getting a formal invite. We have got back about 25 out of 60 reply cards. I did not give them a reply by date...now I am wishing I had! People are so bad at sending reply cards back anyways. It's annoying & I was always one of the guests who did not mail mine back & now I feel bad for doing so because it is SOO ANNOYING!

Claudette- I never did call Randy out. My parents are newly retired so they are traveling all around right now. They have been in Spain for 2 weeks and get back tomorrow, so I will be telling them about all of the drama then. I will leave it up to my dad to decide if he wants to bring it up with Randy or not. My dad is not one to argue over a hundred dollars or anything small like that, so I will have to convince him that it's about the principal of it all, not the $$. I will def post pictures and everything when they get back...I know they are going to MDC the last week in March, not sure the exact dates. I'm glad everyone is having a better time with every aspect of the wedding planning!

Claudette...those invites are super cute!!! I like that one the best and also the map of Jamaica.

I am seriously considering changing resorts. It seems like they took on more than they can handle with the opening of MDC. I went with them because they are a smaller resort, which I thought would mean more personal attention and a better deal overall. The problems we are having are problems I would expect from a larger resort. Now that I find out they don't even have a freaking shuttle to the beach??! I am PISSED. When we did the site visit in OCT they told me they would be running a free shuttle (and the website says they have one too). I don't want to give these people any more of my $$. We have $6,000 deposit down to save the entire resort for my wedding and now I am worried about getting it back (if I end up moving resorts). I am also pissed off because my parents are heaing down to check everything out for themselves at the end of March. Randy acted like he was doing my father a HUGE favor by giving them the grand opening rates for the end of March. Then I go on applevacations.com and find out that the rates through apple are actually $20 less/pp than the grand opening rates per night on their website AND it includes transfers!!! So Randy is acting like he is hooking my dad up since I am having my wedding there, when really other people who book through Apple will be getting a way better deal him. Not such a good feeling. I have a very bad taste in my mouth about how they are running this resort & at this point the last thing I want to do is put any $$ in their pocket. Also, on Apple, they only gave the 4 apples which is not even a good class rating for hotels. UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I am so confused!!!

Air Jamaica stopped flights out of ATL, MIA, & LAX
Sparkles8300 replied to Trice's topic in Honeymoon Forum
The whole reason that we picked Jamaica was that from Baltimore AJ had 3 hour direct flights pretty much every day of the week. Now it seems like all of their flights are non existant. If I can find a flight they are $700 and only on certain weekends through March. This is so scary -
Congrats! I am so glad to hear that you liked them. I just booked them last week for my wedding on 12-5-09!!! So, I will be using them one year to the day of your wedding!!

How to Choose at Moon Dance Villas

I contacted Oneika, but haven't corresponded past that initial email. For you ladies that are getting married sooner - have you had more feedback regarding how they do reception setups? I am having a hard time envisioning it without seeing sample pictures. I look forward to keeping in touch and sharing ideas! :-) Paula from Sungold has tons of Moon Dance weddings in her slideshow gallery. Just call and tell Kim if you are not getting the answers that you need from Kerry. I called and emailed her and told on Kerry, within 1 hours Kerry finally got back to my email. Granted she did not answer all of my questions & only attached the same wedding outline she sends to everyone, but at least she got back to me! Also, My fiance talked to Kim today becasue people are calling to book and keep asking her a million questions so they had to sort stuff out. She ended up sending us the updated menus for all of the restaurants with the new pricing. If you ladies would like to see them just PM me your email and I will forward it. Since it's like 6 menus, I don't want to post all of them! The food sounds really good but kind of pricey. Like breakfast is $12 before drinks!!! I would love to get a copy of the drink pricing....actually I will email her now and ask about that.
