Orange and Aqua wedding colours
FoxyBride replied to Danielle77's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
My colors are orange, coral, and blue. It's more of a cobalt or royal blue though to match by FI's fraternity colors. At first when I tell people they aren't sure all that goes together but once I did my STD's they saw they colors together and loved it. -

I was so worried about getting my hair wet in the pool and the beach, so I avoided those areas for the first two days... by the third day I couldn't resist any more (it was freaking HOT!!), so I enjoyed my self in the pool and beach, but I made sure to warned those around me not to get my "Haiiirrr" wet :0) Even though the Indian hair was a bit expensive, it was worth it to me, because I was able to wear straight or in waves. A different look for each day and got lots of complements from my girlfriends... even from my mom and she hates when I wear weaves! Well when I went to my hair trial I was very nervous, cause it was a small shop in PV and I didn't think that folks in Mexico would know how to handle my hair.... To my surprise they did and they even added some more hair to the weave to make it look fuller! I was super happy with the way my hair turned out... Now I'll shut up and show you all the pics.... During the hair trial The day of the wedding Who does your hair out here? I have not been able to find anyone who can do my hair super bouncy like I like it. One chick even burned my scalp so bad I cried like a baby. It was awful! I know this sounds bad, but I usually wait to get touchups until I go back home to visit my family in Detroit! LOL... flying cross country to get your hair done is worth in if you don't end up in tears.

Jr bridesmaid instead of flower girl?
FoxyBride replied to DCcook's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I thought it mattered if the sides were equal... but then my FI insisted that he have 10 people, yes 10, on his side. He is in a fraternity and if we weren't getting married in Vegas, there would probably be 30 people on his side. I have 3 sisters, 1 best friend as bridesmaids, and my 13 year old niece as junior BM. I absolutely refuse to add random folks just to even it out. My FI's 7 year old daughter is the flower girl and we aren't having a ring bearer. That makes everything super lopsided, but oh well. So I say, do what you think is best. I think you could have her be a junior BM and it'll work out fine. It won't be nearly as lopsided as mine. -
I have done a lot of modeling and as a make-up artist worked on many sets, some with nudity and it all comes down to confidence. When your FI is away one day, run around the house stark naked for as long as you can. Really. Do the dishes, fold the laundry, whatever, so that it feels as normal as possible. Then get in front of a mirror and practice poses. Pay close attention to what makes you look taller, thinner in the right spots and curvier in the rights spots. And arch your back! It makes everyone's but look better. Also pay attention to what faces don't look forced, consipated, etc. and remember how each pose and face FEELS. You don't have a mirror so remembering how it looks won't help you at all. Get to a good face and pose and close your eyes and try to put all that info into your muscle memory. I hope that helps!

I cant find shoes!
FoxyBride replied to meghanmbm's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Definitely check out that thread. It took me months to find shoes as well. Also check out Buy women's shoes boots handbags | Shop visually for women men's shoes clothing | Like.com. It lets you put in a color, style, heel height, etc. and it looks all over the internet at places like endless.com & zappos.com without you having to jump from site to site. -
You do not have a to pay a ticket if you go to court and you're found to be not at fault. They do make you pay court fees though. You also don't have to pay if for some reason the officer doesn't show up but in a lot of cities they get 4 hours overtime just to show up so mostly they do. In big cities that have real crime problems, they might not show and you'll get off. Either way, I totally think you should go if for no other reason than to piss the cop off.

Post here if you are getting married in Las Vegas

Unless you are purposely wanting to stay away from the Strip (too much action, noise, etc.) then you definitely want to stay on it, especially if it's your first time out. You won't get the whole experience without it. The recession has hit Vegas really hard so hotels are still willing to make some deals, plus by June it's hit 100+ for consecutive days so it's not everyone's favorite time to visit. -

That's 6 nights so to stay under $500, you'd have to go with places that will be around $80/night. That might be tough but you are still a whole year away and prices in Vegas change daily, if not hourly. I would just keep an eye on whatever hotel is your top choice. For something in that price range that's still nice, I'd look into the North Tower at Bally's, (The south tower sucks, it's still not renovated.), the Monte Carlo, Treasure Island, or the Mirage. Whatever rates they have now will definately change by next year. The good things about Vegas hotels though is that if you book at one rate and later see that the price has gone down, they will change to the new rate. Some, like The Orleans, also price match. -

IMHO, the Stratosphere sucks. Did you want to stay on that end of the strip? If not, I can offer some suggestions. Just let me know the dates you are looking at and what price you want to keep it under for those days. (Like 6/17-20, under $300, etc.). And FYI, when you tell people Vegas, EVERYONE is going to say they are coming. I would still cut that number in half. People's financial and personal situations change all the time and at first Vegas is going to sound wonderful to them, especially since you have so far to go, but don't bank on them all making it. Give your venues your minimums when asking for prices because they will always let you increase it later, but most won't let you decrease and you'll be stuck paying for things/food you don't need. -

Inexpensive transportation
FoxyBride replied to nicmicj's topic in Destination Weddings in Las Vegas
I'm am looking into using Bell Trans. Las Vegas Limo Service | BELL TRANS | Premier Limousine, Town Car Sedan, & Deluxe Bus Service They have a 24 passenger bus that's only $55/hr and they are usually pretty good about only using an hour if that's all you book them for. My guests are going to be transported from the Flamingo down to Mandalay Bay for the reception and I'm thinking I can get 2 trips done in the hour so that everyone gets there without a problem. -
I will take the fans if they are still available.

I wanted to bump this to add a new tip. We are having our reception at a night club and since it's already really done up, it's saving us having to put up any decor! I'm not spending anything extra to decorate it. I was also able to talk them into not charging us a rental fee since times are slow in Vegas and letting us to consumption only on alcohol. Most Vegas spots charge $30pp for just beer/wine and we will have plenty of folks who don't drink at all.

That's awesome! I've done some background work in movies so the days can be long but it's cool to be able to point yourself out for a split second! LOL.

TIA oh I love your ticker..hope u don't mind if I borrow it... I'm a total cheapskate BUT me & FI are kind of known to do it up on the party side since he owns a nightclub so we didn't want to go broke but we definitely wanted to have a good time. I got the idea from The Knot to have a reception in a hotel suite since a lot of times you can bring in your own food so that cuts down on catering costs. However, we are having a lot of guests and they wouldn't all be as comfortable as I'd like them to in the Panorama suite. We were going to use the Apex suite at PH instead but they won't let you do just Saturday night and 2 nights is way over budget, so we stuck with one and decided to look for a place that would work with us on doing something with just hor'devours and drinks in between. I didn't want to some hotel ballroom because you can do that anywhere and it costs a ton to decorate. I basically emailed every club, bar, lounge I could think of in and around the strip and told them I wanted to keep it under $1500 for drinks & enough hor'devours for 2 hours and Katie at Mandalay Bay was the most accommodating. She isn't charging us a fee for the room and she is letting us pay for drinks on consumption. We are hoping people will wait until the after party to get really trashed so we don't think that will cost too much more. Our only compromise is that rumjungle doesn't have a private room, we will just have an area so we can't do our own music. She was going to let us use a private room at China Grill in MB instead but I like the atmosphere at rumjungle better so we went with that. For the after party we will probably just grab drinks from Lee's Liquor (local spot) or Costco and do some party trays from Jason's Deli. There's a couple of hours in between the reception and after party so I figure if people are "starving" or something still, they'll just go grab something. Let me know if you have any other questions about it. I have months of research under my belt! I actually made this ticker myself but I've seen tons of people using it around The Knot! It's so funny! I do a little graphic design work on the side though so I don't mind it. It's more a compliment. -

It makes me able to get a good extra 5 inches in sometimes! I have such a height complex. My sister is 5'11 and I top out at 5'4.5 and it's just now fair! LOL -
Always good to see a groom on the board. Welcome!
