Dreams La Romana
dolfinluck replied to VallieR's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I'm no expert in weather down there but as far as the April vs May, i would think april is the safer pick but the prices in may are so much better. I think if you go earlier in the month of may you might be better off then later. But really in the end its completely out of your hands. I would keep checking the weather all the time before I left but got to a point that I cant do nothing about it. Plus the forecast would change all the time and would drive me crazy! -

Congrats GEM and your almost there! We gave everyone travel mugs, beach towels and I DIY english-to-spanish pocket phrase guides. For our group no one really used the mugs (i think cause dreams gives you drinks in really big glass for an AI) but they did come in handy for morning coffee. And I would of still given them as ppl have used them since they have been home as well. I loved the towels b/c it really helped to locate our group when at the pool or beach. -

Basically took off one of the metal clips on the binder clip and fed a fishing weight thru it and re-attached it and then clipped the binder clip to the metal frame that goes inside the paper lantern. Worked perfectly. The bonfire was $120 and I brought the food down for the s'mores.

The person that bought them got a bunch of different sizes and colors, 30, 24, 16, 10 and 8 inch ones i believe from asian ideas. -

Did any of you encounter this? We did the free wedding package (warning if you currently have one of the higher packages you must downgrade 90 days before hand!) Not sure about the wine thing though, i dont think anyone ordered any at the dinner. You might be fine with just getting a glass or two but if you want the bottle they might charge you. I'm going for the free wedding package, there are 12 of us in total and we are having our meal in the SSG (not private), I am bringing my flowers, sashes and lanterns with me. Other than the judge have I missed anything else that we will get charged for? Thanks so much for all your help over the last year, this forum and all the ladies on it has been fantastic. Sooooooo excited now :-) I believe you only have to pay for the upgraded chairs. If you look at the picture of my set-up for the ceremony, the only thing I paid extra for was the upgraded chairs. Switched the flowers included in the free package for rose petals. The only thing I could thing of would be if you wanted extra champagne or cake (I ordered extra cake but only b/c I wanted it bigger for the pictures) Good Luck! the 3 weeks will just fly by -

My Pros: Affordable around 200 per night per couple (not inc. flight) Clean modern/tropical decor Semi private ceremony location near the water Size of resort is not too large Dining options with outside seating with a view of the water Wedding package options No wristbands No reservations Beautiful lush grounds, beach, rocky coast area Resort seems a little more unique visually Cons: Due to price point we would need to fly from Boston not Portland Due to price we weuld need to fly into SD Long ride from SD to LR We only plan on being there from a Wednesday and leave for a cruise on Sunday. Do to wedding stay requirements the wedding may have to be on Saturday and then we leave Sunday. I would like a Friday wedding. We are thinking about next April/May. I am leaning more towards the middle of May. I need to check into the weather. I'm trying to figure out what time of the day will be best. We want to have some pictures before the ceremony seeing eachother for the first time. Have the ceremony after with some family photos following and photos near the water around sunset. I'm curious what made you choose this resort and the time of day you selected. Thanks again, Sara Welcome Sara! number one reason for me was the wedding gazebo plus loved not having to make reservations at the restaurants. I also loved the beach. We got married in the middle of May, the weather was perfect (finally rained our second to last day for like 10 mins twice). The weather down there is so localized, one of the tour operators told us La Romana gets twice as much rain as DLR and they are just 20 mins apart. I picked May as the prices for April were a lot higher. and got married at 4:30 (really 4:45 started late). A bunch of ppl that came flew into SD and didnt think the ride was too bad (around 2 hours) but there is a new highway going in and was told the ride would be cut down to an hour and 15 mins but not sure when they will be done.
