  1. Great! Thanks ladies, that definitely makes me feel a lot better! (and Kathie - it was with DD, and after these reponses, I'm pretty sure I'll be going with her!! thanks!)
  2. Hi everyone! Yup, still a definite newbie trying to get my bearings, but I want to make sure I'm not being too naive in this whole wedding planning thing... So, I just received a quote from a reputable WC for a March 2010 wedding at a private villa. Needless to say, it feels a bit high (and I was even expecting something high) since no transport, alcohol, hair/makeup, photo/video, site fee, etc. are included. The quote for an 80 person ceremony and reception was $21K.... I'm sure all of this sounds very familiar... BUT even so, I do realize that there are new pricing policies for everything for 2010 and that the quote does include flowers, all the labor, decor, rentals, food, coordination fees, officiant, blah... so I guess it includes a lot. Regardless, I wanted to run this by the BDW ladies to get some input!! Thanks SO MUCH in advance!! Danielle
  3. So fun!!! Let me know if you're headed to Boston with the BDW Bar Crawl Train...!

THANKS SO MUCH for all your welcomes! I really appreciate it and the forum has already eased my anxiety by lightyears! We've decided on PV in probably March 2010, so now we can finally get on to the fun stuff! Thanks again!
  5. Sounds like a great plan... The only thing I wanted to ask was whether it was possible for me to easily figure out which villa is which in your photos (other than that ones with signs). I assume the one with the really big pool and raised "beach" is Casa Mediterraneao, right? I could probably just visit the villa's websites and match them up too! Will the ride from Dreams to the villa take very long? Pics along Zona Romantica is such a great idea! Will the shuttle make two trips, or does one fit the whole 60-70 (minus wedding party for pictures)? Thanks so much, you've been sooo helpful! Maybe I'll have some pics to share after a trip sometime soon...!
  6. Wow Kathy, sounds fabulous! Thanks so much for posting all of this information, it was REALLY helpful - especially for someone who really has NO idea where to start! I love the idea of having a poolside dinner and then moving the drinks/dancing to the separate beachside spot because you're really utilizing all the villa...the beach is private, right? Also, what is your transportation from ceremony to reception? The pictures are beautiful and your wedding is going to be truly amazing...keep us posted!
  7. Hi tmyers! Yea, I have the same questions as you - is it too risky to do everything sight unseen? It sounds like you'll have plenty of pics/advice on the villa. Have you considered a ceremony/reception at the villa and staying at the Dreams Villa Magna for the rest of your stay? (I don't know locations and if this is feasible...) Is the Dreams VM the new, currently unopen, locale? If so, are they offering any promos to couples and/or guests for its grand opening?! Good luck with everything!

Do you plan on visiting again, or will you pretty much figure everything out on this upcoming visit? Also, have you chosen a WC in PV yet? Congrats on your speedy planning - sounds like everything is moving along smoothly!

Hi Kathie! Glad to see another Bostonite planning a Mexican wedding! I have a quick question for you - are you planning to have a WC in Boston and in MX? My random internet searches have left me at a loss with this one, although I'm thinking the WCs in PV are very professional, so no additional WC is necessary?

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome! As a general newbie, I'm curious about if most brides put a deposit down on their ceremony/reception site before visiting? If not, how far in advance do you recommend that I plan for a site visit? Will places still be available if I can't visit (Puerto Vallarta, most likely) until 8-12 months before? My dilemma: do I try to take advantage of being 18 months out and securing places now, or do I wait until next Feb/March when we'll be able to visit for a few days? Thanks so much! danielle
