So I'm trying to understand here, hopefully someone can shed some light for me. I will probably call the registry for more information later too, so we need to purchase the marriage license prior to meeting with the commissioner, correct? So Nadine, did you purchase 2 licenses?? And bring the 2nd "fake" one to Mexico?

I think some of the packages provide you with a separate room for the night before the wedding, I am going to do the traditional route also. At first I wasn't, but I think it'll be fun and I'm going to have my bridesmaids stay with me and share the excitement!!! Cara

I hear ya girls, I'm totally stressing out.. FI and I just moved into our first home last weekend, and we're still not fully unpacked, I feel like my life is in shambles... and I want to concentrate on the remaining things I need to do for the wedding, but it seems like my evenings go by so fast, and I'm staying up WAY too late at night unpacking things, etc and so I'm exhausted during the day... ugh. I'm hoping that on Saturday I can get really organized and tick a few things off of the to-do list for the wedding.

Hello ladies!!! How was everyone's weekend? We are all moved into our new home and it was so nice to stay there last night, I had such a great sleep. So, I have a question - who is getting married here before they leave, or after they leave, and who is getting legally married in Mexico? FI and I are thinking of doing the legal thing here, before we go. Does anyone know how I can look into doing this? Thanks! Cara

Thanks so much everyone. I look at it as everything happens for a reason, and truthfully now that we are free from Signature, I feel so relieved. We have flight schedules, our Transat rep was in Cancun last week, and met with our wedding coordinator. She came back and told me how wonderful the wedding coordinator there is. She seems to have our best interest in mind now, and seems very sweet. So as much as this is a warning against Signature, this is also a referral to Transat Holidays! They have been so wonderful!!! And now I can sit back, relax, and wait to say I do. Cara

Bonnie - I am not trying to SCARE the ladies, I am trying to give them a heads up. Bottom line is, no tour operator - be it Signature, Transat, anyone has any packages a year in advance. I'm not saying don't book, put down a deposit to hold your spot (which is what we did, and it was refunded to us after Signature wrecked all of our plans). Just know that NO ONE can know what kind of flights or accomodations they will have available a year in advance. The reason why I "ended up in this mess" was because Signature decided all of a sudden not to renew their contract with the Barcelo... and they told us all along we were booked. I'm not trying to say this is going to happen to anyone else, everyone just needs to know that nothing is guaranteed when you are booking so far in advance. It's all only a guess........

Woo!! That's so exciting Meghan!!! Well, I am pretty darn happy! Yesterday was the final payment date for our trip, and we ended up with 56 people (including us). I was nervous that some would drop out when it came to final payment, but they all surprised us! Lets just hope all the payments go through now... haha. Cara

Well I got the final numbers in for my group, our final payment date was today and we have 56 people going!! Woo hoo!! I'm very happy with that number! Cara

Just be careful ladies if you book too early, we booked in July of last year with Signature Vacations and they told us that we had rooms at the hotel, flights lined up and everything. They were just waiting to give us our flight schedule. All we had to do is pay the $150 deposit, and pay in full on March 17th. But this past week they told us they don't have rooms with the Barcelo because they've decided not to renew their contract with the Barcelo. Just like FutureMrsG said, the prices (and usually anything) is subject to change until full payment is made. I know this probably doesn't happen too often, but it was a terrible situation to be in. We had to change our wedding date and everything! You can read my review of Signature Vacations under "Bride Referrals" where it gives a more detailed explanation fo what happened. Just be careful when booking so early. We wish we waited until the our operators had their flight details, and packages available otherwise they're just making a guess on what it could cost you, and when you'll fly, but once they get their packages for that month your wedding is in, it could COMPLETELY change. What are you thinking of for invitation style? I'm doing passport invitations, and I'm using Rebbeca, who's on this forum under the username Becks. Her company is Allurements By Rebecca. I would STRONGLY reccommend her, she's been so great, and she's fast!!! Allurements by Rebecca
