  1. Aww you're from Coquitlam, that's where my FI proposed to me. I love it there. We go there every year. Thanks for the advice Dreamstbride. You're right, we're just going to have to wait right now. But I'm sure it'll work out... I just have to have patience. (which I don't have a whole lot of usually. haha!) ~Cara
  2. Hello there!!! I am also getting married in May 2010. And I'm also from Canada, Alberta actually. I don't think that we can get quotes right now for 2010 but I could be wrong.
  3. Hey everyone! I'm still fairly new to everything, and I'm afraid I can't figure out what AHR stands for. Can someone please fill in a clueless bride? Thanks!
  4. WOW! This is so helpful and so useful!! Thank you so much for posting this!! I am so excited to have our wedding booked!! Did you love the resort? I wish I could do a site visit!!!
  5. BEAUTIFUL photos! You two are so cute! I love the cards he gave you, how sweet.

Hi Sunshinekc08, Thank you so much for offering this!! If you could take pictures of the locations to have the ceremony, and the reception areas around the palace that would be great! Also, when you return if you could give us an update on the dolphin swim up plans, I'm really interested to see if this is going to go through or not. I actually really hope it doesn't, and I'm afraid they will be constructing the dolphin swim up attraction when I have my wedding, in 2010. If that's the case then I might have to look at other resorts, unless it won't be a distraction or inconvenience to us & our guests. Either way, have so much fun and drink lots of tequila!! I'm very jealous! I wish I was going to Mexico too!!! Take lots of pics for us if you can, and let us know what you think of the resort. Thanks again SO MUCH!! Have a great time. Cara
  7. Wow! Congrats on such a beautiful wedding and being a Mrs. now. It looks and sounds like they did such a fabulous job of making your wedding day perfect. The resort looks beautiful. This is making me so excited for our wedding, and 99.9% set on the Barcelo Palace. Thank you for the review & pics.
  8. WONDERFUL!! I'm so glad that you had a good time!! Do you have any pictures? It would be great to see them and to read a review for us brides who are considering the Barcelo Palace. =)
  9. Personally for me, my resort pick is going to change many many times I am guessing, unless the Barcelo has everything I want and the price is ideal, etc. We originally wanted to get married at a Riu, nothing else.. then we became a little more open and we were leaning toward Dreams, and then we were looking at other resorts like the paradisus, etc. And now we're on the Barcelo, which isn't set in stone, it could change any time. So if you're like me, you'll be sending out many websites to your guests with new resorts or new prices. I think as long as the guests know the time of year you're planning on going and an estimate of cost, they'll be able to save up until next year when you're able to book for sure and tell them this is the ONE! It's not going to change! (well... we hope). And they can book and everything too. I wouldn't worry too much about your guests. Maybe give them a list of your top 3-5 resorts or something and they can go online and look at the resorts, which will make them excited too. And then once you narrow it down you can tell them which one it'll be. It's exciting to research resorts and look at peoples pictures who have had weddings there before, and really decide which one you LOVE!!! I used to want to decide the resort right away, and I would say, "that's the one!" and then when I saw something I didn't like about it, I'd get dissapointed because I got my hopes up. My mom was the one who actually talked to me and said, "What's the rush? You should be enjoying this part and pick the one you know is going to be perfect. Take your time" Although I still want to book really bad!!! haha.
  10. Why would there be different colored wrist bands for the different sides of the resort? And why would they be stopping someone who was from a different side? Do you not have access to the whole resort if you stay there? Sorry for the questions, I just don't quite understand. thanks for all the new links, info, and pictures Helen and Shannon!!
  11. I know exactly what you mean!! I want to be able to give our guests plenty of time also. But what we've decided is to tell them to save a certain amount, because we're pretty sure it'll be somewhere around that mark, hopefully less so they'll be happy!! lol. We're really interested in the Barcelo Maya Palace, so that one's at the very top of our list, but we're keeping our options open still. We have a list of a few we like, and whichever comes up as the best rate and best options in the wedding package is the one we'll book. I wonder when us May 2010 brides should think about booking.
  12. Hello!! I am also a May, 2010 bride! I know how you're feeling because it can be very hard to try to pick a spot when we can't even get prices right now, but even so, you wouldn't be able to book at this time anyway, right? I was told that we can't book until next year (well from our TA because they don't have 2010 prices out yet) so we've just come to the conclusion that we will have to be patient and just take it easy for now. I'd love to pick the resort, but it's also good because we have so much time to do research and look around. I'm sure you'll figure everything out. Sorry I'm not much more help, but I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are!!! Best of luck!
  13. Hello everyone! I have a few questions about the Barcelo Maya Palace if you don't mind. My fiance and I are looking into the Barcelo for our wedding in approx May 2010, I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself but I'm just so excited to start planning!! I sent an email to the Barcelo a little while ago and haven't heard back yet, but can any one who's been to this resort tell me if it's wheelchair accessible? My dad is in a wheelchair so this is a MUST. If it's not, we'll just have to continue our searches. Also, I've read somewhere that the Barcelo chain offers free weddings. Does anyone have any more info on this or what you need in order to qualify for that? Just something worth looking into. I can't find any info about their wedding packages on their website, am I just missing it? Last question - would you say this resort is expensive? I am really trying to keep the cost per person for our guests under $2000. Would you say that's possible with this resort? Thank you so much in advance for any info you can give me. Cara
