Hello Barcelo Colonial brides!! I am wondering if you would be able to help me out... my FI and I originally fell in love with the Barcelo Maya Palace, but the prices came back pretty high... so I started to look around but really nothing else struck my attention like the Barcelo did.. so I looked into the other Barcelo's. I think the Colonial is very nice, but I need some help making my mind up. (And some reasons to give my FI for why we should choose this instead of the Palace lol) Can you tell me what made you choose the Barcelo Colonial over the Palace? Was it the price? Or something else? Does anyone know if there's any other options for the ceremony other than the beach? (My dad is in a wheelchair so the gazebo at the Palace was what grabbed our attention). Also, I can't seem to find many good photos of the Colonial, do any of you have any good photos you wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks so much! Cara

My husband and I walked through the Palace and it was very beautiful but honestly we enjoyed the looks of the Colonial better. I think because it was more inviting, colorful and seemed more cozy and homey! My mother in law commented that it was more Mexican then modern like the Palace; which to us was a good thing as we were in Mexico. Actually, everyone from our group took the trolley tour where they take you around all the Barceló’s and everyone said the same thing that the Colonial was their favorite. Sure the Colonial is a bit older but we were very happy with it. I never once regretted not picking the Palace. I am sure whatever you decide you will be happy with as anything Barceló will be amazing. But honestly we love, loved the Colonial and if we went back today we would pick the Colonial over the Palace again! I would love to attach some pics but not sure how too?? Can you help? ha-ha sorry! Thank you so much for your reply!!! It made me so excited! That's perfect that it looked more Mexican than modern. That's what I'm looking for!! And colorful would be beautiful in photos. YAY! I think we're going to go with the Colonial now as long as the FI agrees, which I'm sure he will once he sees photos. Hmm... I'm pretty newbie still so I'm not really sure how to post photos. Do you have a link to an album that you could paste in a reply?

Thank you for your review Carie! We are looking into the Colonial now after the prices for the Palace came back too high. I'm a little nervous that we may regret not staying at the beautiful Palace on our wedding day, did you ever wish you had stayed at the Palace instead? I would also love to see photos. It may help with my decision.

I think that's reasonable. -

Most people will either contact you and say "hey, we wanna go" or send you back the RSVP card letting you know their intentions. So if you put a reply date on the rsvp card say... a couple weeks from when you send them out, within a months time you will have a pretty good idea of how many rooms you will need to block....IMO I completely agree with you. We're sending out STD's tomorrow, and we will see what kind of response we have from them to know an idea of how many guests we can expect. We're not doing RSVP cards with our STD's though, we put our wedding website address and asked them to provide us with an "informal RSVP" on our website so we know who's interested. I really hope we get a good response!!! **FINGERS CROSSED** -
Hey Carly!! Everything looked so great. You did a wonderful job!! Do you mind telling me where you got your maraca's from? I really want to get some for our wedding. Thank you!

I'm already a wreck and no one is taking me seriously because they're all like "you have so much time!" Am I the only crazy one here? Hi there Michelle! You are DEFINITELY not the only crazy one... In fact, you're not crazy at all I don't think!! Who'd have known a destination wedding could be stressful? I am just trying to pick our resort currently and it's hard!!! My FI are in love with the Barcelo Maya Palace, but I'm starting to think it might be too pricy for our guests... It's such a let down and it's hard for us to love any other resort as much as that one.... sigh.. guess we'll just have to see what happens. -

We just kept looking and kept falling in love with a different resort all the time. I think there are so many beautiful resorts in the Riviera Maya, we just finally decided we had to make our decision and that was that. We're happy with our choice now. -

We are also getting married in 2010. We are hoping for May 14, 2010. We are leaning toward the Barcelo Maya Palace. I'd love some confirmation but I guess we'll just have to wait. We have already ordered our Save The Dates actually, they should be here today. We've put 5/14/10 on the std's and if the date changes, it won't be changing by a lot. At least our guests will know when they need to save by. I wish it was happening in May of this year!!! -

Hello Kamerrence, We are also planning our wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace. I have seen a few weddings there and they look absolutely beautiful. I have heard that the gazebo location isn't the most private spot to have a wedding, however I have seen some photos of weddings there, and they still look wonderful. We are planning our wedding for the gazebo location. If we decide against it, we can always change our minds when we're there and meet with the wedding coordinator. There is a thread in this forum also strictly for Barcelo Maya Palace brides. You should check it out. Hope that helps a bit. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21746 ~Cara~
