  1. If you really wanted to stick to Cozumel, there are usually ways to get around the outside vendor thing. For example, we are getting married at the Aventura Spa Palace in the RM which doesn't allow outside vendors, but are getting around it by having a photographer stay overnight. If you're willing to pay a little extra it might be worth looking into. Palace has a sister resort in Cozumel if you're interested. Good luck!
  2. Welcome from another July bride!! Congrats!
  3. Congratulations and welcome to the forum!
  4. Hey Becks, I wish I had seen this sooner...do you have anything left?
  5. Jack Johnson "Better Together" It's sweet and relaxing...also very beachy! The minute I heard it I knew it would be our wedding song...I know it's kind of old now, but I love it!
  6. We are deciding between "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "When You Wish Upon a Star." Wizard of Oz and Pinocchio were 2 movies my dad and I watched all the time when I was little...the songs just make me think of him! I prefer "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole because it's more "beachy", but Dad wants the Judy Garland version. We'll see what happens...
  7. haha yes, I guess it is a blonde moment...I meant November, not 2009 (not that they are at all similar, but you get it) I just don't know what to do!
  8. ok, so now I'm REALLY mad I just emailed the WC because I had a question about the contract...which is due by November 3rd. This is the autmated reply I got seconds later in my inbox: Thank you for contacting the Weddings Department at Palace Resorts. I am currently out of the office and will be returning September 2, 2008. If this is an emergency, you are able to contact the weddings department onsite by accessing our toll free weddings number to 1-877-PAL-4-WED option#3 Then listen to the prompt and choose a property. Otherwise, I will follow up upon my return. Thank you for your patience and assistance. Kindest Regards,Claudia MartinezWedding Sales Coordinator1-877-PAL-4-WED WTF September 2008 Uhhh, I'm pretty sure it's 2009... Anyone else have this problem? I don't know what to do...
  9. HELP! I just received the contract for our July wedding at the Aventura Spa Palace and ran into a policy I was unaware of... Apparently 80% of your guests have to stay at the resort. We only have 22 guests invited, and my parents wanted to stay offsite, and I had told our guests they could stay offsite too if they wanted to save money. What do I do? We already booked the stay with our TA...we could cancel, but would be out the booking fee with our TA and already signed the credit card authorization in case the wedding is cancelled...I don't know if they would charge us before we signed the contract or not? Should we try to find another place or just tell our guests they have to stay there? Most of our guests will stay there anyway, but I think 4 people were planning on staying offsite to save money. I could talk my parents into staying there, but I feel bad telling my friends they have to. And if I don't have 20 guests attend (which I probably won't), 4 guests can't stay offsite anyway, because it would be less than 80%. It has taken us months to choose a resort and wedding date and I was finally feeling good about the whole situation and now this! Please help!!!
  10. Congratulations Danielle! And enjoy your wedding! We all can't wait to hear about it (and see!) when you get back!
  11. The dress is beautiful and it looks fabulous on you! You can pull off the white with your skin color! No worries...your wedding is going to be perfect and you'll look amazing!!!
  12. I got my dress on ebay from a bridal shop that was going out of business. It was advertised as being a sample gown that was very dirty along the hem from being tried on so many times....and it was! But i took my chances anyway (paid $20 with shipping) and had it cleaned for $30, and it looks brand new. For a destination wedding and a dress I'm going to trash anyway, I didn't want to spend a fortune. I have very simple taste and it was exactly what I had been searching for in dozens of high end shops! I will try to post pics soon...
  13. Not having a registry there, I was excited that they were closing because of the sales! But I was there the other night, and stuff wasn't marked down as much as I had hoped. Most things were only 10-20% off, and their prices are high to begin with. They still had what seemed like a full stock so I'm hoping they drop prices more as they get closer to closing time. And I'm sorry to all the brides registered there...that is a major bummer to relocate...too bad they can't do something more for you
  14. Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the forum!
  15. Your pictures are gorgeous!!! Too bad you had some problems with the WC, but it looks like it turned out wonderful in the end! Thanks for posting
  16. There are always going to be a few bad reviews...if you love the resort, don't let one or two people's picky taste ruin that for you!
  17. I am running into the same issue with Palace Resorts (Aventura Spa Palace)...they don't allow outside vendors, but I think I can get around it by having the photographer sty overnight. I just hope they don't tell me they can't shoot the ceremony...
  18. Congrats and welcome! We almost chose the Moon Palace, but went with the Aventura for the adults only aspect... Best of luck with all your planning!
  19. Welcome Desiree! Congratulations and happy planning!
  20. I use both sites for photos, and take advantage of whichever is cheaper at the time or is sending me more coupons... I have 2 photobooks from shutterfly that were free (paid for shipping) and I love them...but those are the only ones I have. As others have said, I probably wouldn't pay $30 for the books (unelss they were gifts) but getting them for free is worth it and they are great quality!
