  1. I just bought some from oriental trading. Depending on the quality I may use them for a shower instead...I'll let you know when they come in. The ones I got were these (12 for $15) but they also have nicer ones, but they are much more expensive ($8 for set of 2)
  2. I booked Misti from expressionsbymisti.com! She had put a post up on the forum a few days ago for a free package (just pay airfare and 3 nights hotel...look here)...but her regular destination package is really reasonable too...check out mistiabner.com) Another bride on the forum booked her for a few days after me so we are able to split her airfare and it's going to be even cheaper! Her pics are great...I couldn't believe I didn't come across her before...I'm sooo excited, and it's another thing to check off my (very short) list of things I've done!
  3. Our AHR will be in August and we are doing a backyard BBQ type thing. I would definitely keep it casual (to keep costs down). Maybe you could think about having a party that incorporates your destination. For example, if you were getting married in Mexico, have a "fiesta" type party at home. You could just do Mexican appetizers and maybe even have like taco stations...that way it's indoors but cheap enough...just an example...where are you getting married?
  4. No, she is at the hotel...I will definitely get it in writing (I will probably print ALL my emails before I go anyway) Thanks guys!
  5. Ok, so I had heard that certain resorts don't allow outside vendors, but I asked my WC and she said it wasn't a problem. She said the only fee would be to purchase a day pass ($85) for the photographer since they are not a guest of the resort. Well I just booked my photographer (yay!) and was of course all psyched about it...and then got an email from another photographer (I had made inquiries at several companies and she was just getting back to me) saying that my resort does not allow outside photographers. Did my WC give me misinformation? Just wondering what anyone else has done and if this is true?
  6. Oh...I should also add that I'm not having a private reception and our resort is an all-inclusive...so the extra people won't cost me anything...if I were paying for the random guests I would definitely have more of an issue with it!
  7. One of my bridesmaids is single and has expressed wanting to bring someone. Originally she planned on rooming with another friend of mine, but now that person can't go...so my BM is asking around for a date. At first I was kind of upset at the idea of a random person coming, but she is making a big sacrifice to come in the first place and it's more expensive to have a room as a single than it is to split the cost of a room between two people. I also have a friend who recently got divorced (very upsetting because I got along great with her ex-husband and we have known each other for years), but she has talked about bringing her new boyfriend who I haven't even met yet and I was feeling uncomfortable about that. But again, she's coming all the way to Mexico and it should be a vacation for her too...I just asked that I could meet the dates first so my wedding wasn't the first time meeting them...
  8. Very cute! I would agree that it's the perfect proposal-totally real and at a meaningful spot for both of you. My FI was nervous too...it's a good thing we were in the water, otherwise he would have been dripping with sweat! It's so cute how nervous they get... Congrats!
  9. A lot of brides get the bags from cheaptotes.com and iron on their monogram or some other design...the iron on part is pretty easy...JUSTUSTWO explains it here http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t33589 The hibiscus ones are cute too though...good luck!
  10. I've heard of this...does anyone know if it actually works??
  11. Ok, I'm getting married a week before you and I'm feeling behind too. I would agree that STDs should have gone out already....although I started working on mine in October and still haven't sent them out...I also haven't been working on them since! Hopefully this week I will be able to get on it...I work two jobs full time and the other 6 hours of the day I try to sleep, so wedding planning has been difficult. One of my jobs is overnight, so I spend most of the night on the forum, but it doesn't allow me to work on things like invitations. Because I am so late in getting out my STDs I have tweaked them a little. I am kind of combining the STD with the invite, and included an RSVP. Most people already have our website and we have a fairly small guestlist, (45 invited, guessing 20 will attend), so people have known about the date and location since September. Once I have a finalized guest list and it is closer to the wedding I plan to send out boarding pass invites, but only to those guests that are coming (to save money and part of the stress of making them myself)... I finally bought my dress (it's actually my 3rd...ugh), and we have our wedding bands, and I started collecting things for the OOT bags, but other than that, I'm slacking. Wow...sorry this is so long...good luck with your planning; I'm sure everything will come together!
  12. This is so cute! I wish one of my friends would get married now... I wanna see pics of the granny panties...haha

    Yay for another Aventura bride...welcome!
  14. Those are so pretty! Perfectly classic for what you are wearing! And you can definitely wear them again Nice find!
  15. Oh no! How awful...hopefully you will find one on Monday and maybe it will be even better than the original! These things happen for a reason... ::Crossing my fingers for you::
  16. Aww I don't have these but I love them! If you come across them I'd love a share too... Good luck!
  17. Aww bummer it wasn't perfect...good thing they were able to rush it and you have enough time still! Could have been a disaster...can't wait to see pics when the new one comes in
  18. Yay! I've been waiting for your updated post! What a relief! SO happy for you and I'm sure it will fit just fine
  19. I originally didn't want a veil at all, especially on the beach because I had read reviews about it blowing around too much...then I wanted a birdcage veil (love them!)...then found out that my FI HATES them and thinks they are hideous...I know it shouldn't matter but I want him to think I look beautiful on my big day and I'm not sure it matches my dress anymore anyway...so I threw the veil idea out the window again... BUT now I am back on the veil kick...I think I want one again but just a short one that I will wear under my low bun (I am also doing a flower so I don't want it to cover it)... I say if you want one then HAVE ONE! And if it blows around so what...you can always take it off if it's not working for you. For this reason I am not spending the money on one, but will borrow one from a friend and use it as my something borrowed
  20. We went to Xel-Ha as well, but for only half a day (the other half was spent at Tulum). Both were great! We didn't get a chance to do the lazy river at Xel-Ha because it was too long of a wait to get a tube. I would recommend having a whole day there.
  21. I went to 4 Targets before my MOH in NJ finally found them! I'm so excited...she bought the only 17 they had! Thanks for posting girls!
