Help me with my hair style! FUN POLL for FRI!

I like #4! -
Our wedding is so small (20ish guests) that we decided not to have a big reception. So instead, our cocktail hour will be our reception, and we are having it AFTER dinner. It would be silly to have appetizers after we've eaten, so instead we are having mini desserts, tea and coffee, and of course COCKTAILS.

Hi girls...first of all I am the most indecisive person ever, and FI is no help when it comes to this stuff, so I'm turning to you all for advice. Right now we have our ceremony booked for 5PM. BUT I am considering moving it up to 4. Right now the night will be as follows... 5-5:30 Ceremony 5:30-6 pictures (I know it's not long but I don't want very many posed pics...more into the candids which we will get later in the evening) 6-8 dinner 8-10 cocktail reception then we will probably go to the disco, or wherever else to continue with the party... BUT now I'm thinking about whether or not to move everything up an hour, putting our cocktail reception at 7-9 PM instead. I was wondering if anyone knows what time the sun sets in July...because that will make a difference. I think it might be nice to have the reception at sunset...we will miss it if we wait until 8. We originally chose 5PM because we figured it might be cooler, but I guess it will be hot anytime right? Anyone get married in July that can offer any help? TIA

How long did you date before enagaged?
rach220 replied to Tamster808's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
I'm feeling like we jumped the gun compared to everyone else...FI and I were dating for just over a year when he popped the question. AND, most of the time we were dating he was in Germany...so technically we were only "together" for 3 months...We started dating in November of 2005, he left in February of 2006 (for a year and a half!), and he proposed in February of 2007. We will have been engaged for 2 1/2 years when we get married. But we have been living together for a year and a half now, so sometimes it feels like we're already married... -

What day of the week are you getting married in Mexico?
rach220 replied to iceapple's topic in Other areas of Mexico Weddings
We are getting married on a Thursday. We planned it that way hoping there wouldn't be a ton of other weddings the same day as the weekends are more popular. So far we are the only ones booked on our date....also we thought Thursday still gave people the opportunity to do a long weekend (Wed-Sunday?), which most are planning. Good luck planning! -
Post Groom and GM attire
rach220 replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hey girls...maybe someone on here can help me out...I let FI pick out what he wants him and his GM to wear (probably my first mistake), but we are having difficulty locating the outfits for cheap... He wants to wear black pants and a long sleeve french cuff shirt. I want to find him really lightweight pants and everything we find in black is wool...maybe it's just the time of season. The shirt doesn't matter as much...he hates short sleeve button down shirts, so he will just be rolling up his sleeves after the ceremony. Does anyone knows where to buy nice white shirts with the french cuff? Hopefully it will cool off at night (our ceremony is at 5)...I think he's a little crazy for wanting black but whatever... Any help would be appreciated! -
Welcome Erica and Congratulations! I'm getting married at ASP in July...I had the same second-thoughts after finding this forum and seeing how many beautiful places there are! Just so you know, one of the reasons we booked the ASP was because of the adults only aspect, but they will be allowing kids starting in April on half the resort. Not sure if it will effect your decision, but it was disappointing for us. We are trying to look at the bright side, and now we can have our family members with kids attend our wedding and still be closeby, but still have our privacy on the other side. Good luck and whatever you decide will be wonderful! The forum has so much great information....

For those that got married at ASP, do you remember about how long dinner took? We are trying to create a timeline of events for the night.... Thanks guys! -
Does anyone want to share monogrammed OOT items?
rach220 replied to Kits55's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I might be interested...but would only need about 15 of each...I don't think I'd be much help! -
I was at Target today and their $1 items (with the red dot) are 30% off! I picked up some Cocktails for Dummies books, and crossword puzzle books (already bought the Spanish books). They also had tote bags for $2.50 in blue, pink, navy, and olive green. We bought them in black a few weeks ago but they didn't have anymore. They also had tropical looking picture frames, mini notepads, frisbees. I know I've seen mini footballs there too, but they didn't have any at mine tonight. Good luck!

I thought of the same Friends episode with Ross....too funny! I'm really hoping someone with experience will chime in here... My dress is poly-taffeta and has a lot of extra material because of the way it's "rouched" all over. I didn't really give any thought to the sweat factor because I figured I'd be sweating no matter what I wore...but the other day my TTD came in the mail and I tried it on and was like uh oh...IT'S SOOO LIGHT! I guess I just never had anything light to compare mine to. All the dresses I tried on were kinda heavy. I really want to wear my TTD as my regular dress now...but already spent $500 at David's Bridal for my other one (and still have issues with it...you may remember my DB dilemma from a recent post). And also, my DB is white, which goes much better with everything else in the wedding...the TTD is ivory so I'm afriad it wouldn't go. SO I guess I have to keep things the way they are...BUT I'M GOING TO NEED LOTS OF BABY POWDER!

Hi jmb- I have the S and palm tree logo on my computer at home, so I will email it to you at some point tomorrow. Every single person we've spoken to that received their invite said the sand dollar did not break...I was so relieved. We didn't use any special padding...the envelopes were actually really thin-they were the "free" ones from Vistaprint. You can actually see through them in the pics. I did my best to fill the hole in the back of the sand dollar with hot glue as I was glueing it on, so I'm not sure if that helped. Also, most of our families and friends live closeby...mostly within CT. Maybe the fact that they didn't go very far helped too. I did send one to England...but I forgot to ask her if it made it ok. We really wanted to use starfish, but thought they were more fragile. When I got the sand dollars we were throwing them onto our tiled kitchen floor just to see if they would break, and they didn't (except for one maybe, and we threw a LOT). The only way they broke is if we squeezed them...we tested it...haha! My FI was trying to prove me wrong because he said there was no way they would make it through the mail...it was so nice to be able to say TOLD YA SO! Let me know if you have any more questions...

Hi girls...I don't know where else to go... FI just got orders that he is supposed to deploy March 15th to South Carolina for Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan, although it doesn't say that). Funny thing is he is supposed to be out of the Army...he completed 8 years and as of July 27, 2008, he was free. He spoke with someone on the phone who told him his contract was extended because of the war (without him knowing??) This is not something I'm prepared to deal with right now...our wedding is booked for July...we have 10 guests who have booked already, and a couple more who are about to. I just called them to tell them not to book, but I don't want anyone to cancel yet either...what if it's all a mistake? More importantly, I'm worried about him. He was in Germany for a year and a half and it was HELL. And it was only Germany! This is very different. I don't even want to think about what could happen to him, or what it would be like when (if?) he came back. He hasn't been able to get any answers and now it's a holiday weekend. I'm trying not to freak out until it's definite, but he is falling apart. The Army has screwed him so many times (he's been deployed 5 times and was stop-lossed while in Germany) and now this?! It would be one thing if we were prepared for it, but he was supposed to be done. We even had a party last July when his commitment to the Army was up. He just stormed out of the house, saying he needs to be alone. I guess I just have to be supportive because obviously it's a lot for him to deal with and he's dealing with it the only way he knows how, but I wish he would include me. I told him I loved him and we would get through this no matter what, but I don't know what else to say. Now I'm sitting here all alone, not knowing what to do with myself...worrying my ass off about what's going to happen. It's going to be a long weekend. Any other Army wives out there?

Wedding Bands....How much.
rach220 replied to mineaux's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I feel cheap...we couldn't afford really expensive bands...my e-ring is just a diamond solitaire, but on a very thin band. It was hard to find a band thin enough that looked ok with it, without overpowering it, so I wanted it to be very simple. We spent less than $500 for both of our bands combined, but they are exactly what we wanted.
