I just wanted to drop in here and tell everyone that has been stressed out or had their special days at all affected by this, how sorry I am! I am getting married in Jan in the Mayan, and reading peoples comments on here has reassured me so much. I don't know how I would've handled it if this hit so close to my wedding. I hope everyone is able to make alternate arrangements, and that one day we can all look back and laugh about the 'pandemic' that never was. Leave it to the medi!

Kimmie, congrats and welcome. I am also looking at booking for January, but towards the end of it. Question for you...were you already able to get prices for that time? I'm finding that the most frustrating, as I've been told the prices won't come out till May or June and I have people driving me nuts asking me. Also, has anyone else run into less then supportive in-laws when it comes to a destination wedding? Mine haven't been excited about the idea from the start. I try to include my FMIL, but every time I talk to her, I feel like she is trying to find some excuse to get us to get married here. Tonight I brought her an info package on the Paradisus and she looked at some of the prices and said 'You know, you could always get married here and then the two of you can go down there to renew your vows'. I keep hoping she'll give up and realize that I'm not changing my mind and she'll concentrate more on being excited. I think tonight made me realize it's time to give up on that idea. And she wonders why I didn't bring her dress shopping with me?

Does anyone know of anyone who's done a Shaman ceremony at the Paradisus? Or anywhere else for that matter? I figure if I am getting married in Mexico, it would be nice to embrace the culture and really like the sounds of a Shaman ceremony.

So I think I have finally decided on my colour scheme...pink and green! (like bright pink and bright green). My 2 sisters will be my BMs. I'm wondering what are some good places to look for dresses that aren't necessarily 'BM' dresses, but could be used. Also, if anyone has some pics they could share of styles they like. My one sister will have just had a baby about 4 1/2 months before I get married, so I want something flattering that will hide any baby weight that may still be there. Thanks!

Thanks for the responses so far. So if I send out STD say in May to everyone, with the booking info etc, when would send the 'invites'? And do you need to send them to people who've already booked? Anyone I am inviting already knows it is a dw and has for at least 6 months now. I'm so anxious for the prices to come out so I can finally get things firmed up. Waiting for quotes is the most frustrating part of this!

Does everyone do STD? I'm just wondering if I can just send out invites with all the resort info, or if I need to send STD now and then invites out closer to the actual wedding (getting married Jan 2010). Thanks!

Hi everyone. So i have read through the entire thread now. I am considering the Palladium for my March 2010 wedding. I have some questions that I'm hoping you can help me with. 1. How long does the drive take to get from the airport to the hotel? 2. For those that have been there, how is the water? It sounds like you need water shoes because of the coral. Are there any spots that you can go in without shoes? Thanks. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go along.

So I had been focusing on Cozumel, as I was really set on having sunsets, but the only place I was really considering doesn't allow outside vendors, and I don't like their photographer very much. So the search continues. I'm looking for suggestions for the Mayan. We are looking to get married at the end of March, 2010. Here are some must haves: 1. All inclusive 2. Nice beach 3. Not further then 30 minutes from the airport 4. option of private reception I want to keep to the $1500-$2000 price range. I don't know yet if there will be kids coming, so to be safe, let's say kid friendly. I want a place that lets me bring in outside vendors, in case I don't like their photog or music options (unless they have really awesome ones to start with). I am willing to pay a fee. I prefer resorts on the smaller side, as I don't really like the idea of being one of 20 weddings happening that day. I think that's it for my must have list. I guess that was longer then I thought! Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Also, I'm still trying to figure out who to use as a TA, so recommendations for that as well are great. I am in the GTA area. Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone, My fiance and I are looking to get married in Mexico probably in March 2010. I think Cozumel is my first choice, with Mayan as the 2nd for locations. I'm looking for recommendations. Here are some must haves: All inclusive, must have a good beach, preferably no more then 30 minutes drive from the airport, 4 star or better. I want my ceremony on the beach, and I want it to be private (no gross men in speedos walking around, while I pledge my love) and I want the reception to be private as well. I am open to getting married off the actual resort (like I've seen pictures for the 'Beacfront wedding garden and Mr. Sancho's restaurant in Cozumel, and that looked not too bad). I am also looking for a travel agent. I need someone who responds to emails promptly (I prefer email to phone), someone who will actually make suggestions based on the criteria that I am telling them, and preferably a TA that specializes in DW. Any recommendations on that front would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank everyone!

Hello fellow brides, My name is Sarah and I got engaged in May. I already knew that I was going to have a destination wedding, so that was the easy part. We don't know where yet, or exactly when, but right now the thought is March 2010, Mexico...maybe cozumel. I look forward to getting lots of tips from those that have gone before me!
