Translation of documents - HELP!
BachataBride replied to Steffi234's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic

You can contact the Dominican consulate closest to you for instructions! If it's close enough that you can go there personally, then it is best to do that. You can leave with all the docs you need in your hand!! At least that's what we can do here in Toronto! I've heard that using the services like "we do" is not a good idea...but I can't really remember why!! But I think lots of people do!! -
How far in advance did you book?
BachataBride replied to khk112009's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
We booked the RIU Bachata in March 2008 for a January 2009 wedding. Why is it $250 pp to book?? We only paid $150 - but you have to have 10 ppl out of one gateway to get the group rate. Are you dealing with a TA?? Mine works for Vacations Internationale and she has clients all over if you're interested. She actually got me a great price out of Edmonton (that's where FI's BM is flying from). PM me & I'll give her your contact info! -
I'm still trying to figure that out too...but I wanted to post so that I could come back to it!

Monster Truck/Outback Safari
BachataBride replied to LadyCheese's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
We plan on doing the catamaran excursion. We did it in Samana (beautiful place, fyi!) in February & it was one of the best days of our lives (until the wedding of course!!) FI really wants to the the Monster Truck thing though...so we are definitely looking into it. -
Any RIU Brides?
BachataBride replied to klp1979's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
The photographer that I am most likely going to use is on the site...renee cobb. She will be in the northern area of the DR for Jan & Feb of '09 training someone. I'm not sure if she will be going back in July, or if her trainee will be available. She is really great, just contact her! Oh, & you should definitely check out the RIU Bachata...look at the location Good Luck!! -
Found my Weding Shoe!
BachataBride replied to kerryjbrown's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
LOVE them!! I didn't really think about going color for my shoes...I just always thought they would/should be white. Hmmmm...that's something to think about!!! Will be a lot easier to find too if I'm not stuck on white! Thanks for sharing!! -
Why you should make sure your beach ceremony is private...
BachataBride replied to Inked1's topic in Just venting or funnies
That is the main reason I am getting married on the clifftop...less chances of that happening!! (Although I do realize that anythig is possible!!) -
I was torn by this as well...that's why I sent out my invites back in March...just after the first "lot" of guests booked. I knew that I wanted invitations...its my wedding after all!! But I knew I probably couldn't justify sending them out after people were booked & I knew no one else (or very few) were going to book! I also justified it by putting that an AHR would follow in the summer of 2009...details to be determined!! That was how I justified sending it to people I knew were not coming!! But it is completely up to you! I did my invites very inexpensively...140 invitations, 140 envelopes & 140 address labels all for about $120. That was through vistaprint as Karen mentioned above. To have a look at my invites look at this forum... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29462 But it's all said & done its completely up to you!

BachataBride replied to Bing & Win Win's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Ah!!! I knew what is was...just not what it stood for!!! lol Thanks!! (and thanks Bing & Win Win for asking!) -
This is so cute!! Kids are so funny!!! Thanks for the laughs...I needed them this afternoon!

If she wants to do it, then I say go for it!! As long as you don't have to pay for it or plan then what do you have to lose? You will make your FMIL so happy...and you'll get presents!! What can be so bad about that!! But I agree...let your MOH know since she wanted to plan one for you...they can plan together!

Ceremony Locations--HELP
BachataBride replied to Cassondra2009's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic

Once I saw the gazebo over looking the ocean that was it for me!! It's just so breathtaking!! And I sacrificed the beach for this view! But if you are looking for a nice beach Punta Cana is it! Another beautiful spot that is getting a bit more popular now is Samana. FI and I were there in February. It is amazing there!! GBP Cayo Leventado has an AMAZING beach (although its pricey!). I don't know if you could stay at one of the other GBP's nearby & get married at Leventado. We stayed at GBP Cayacoa! Let me know if you'd like more info! -
ribbon wands
BachataBride replied to mandalaybay3071's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
LOVE this idea!! I think I may vary it to incorporate with the sandalwood fans I have ordered! (Add to Cart) I may fix the ribbon (personalized with our names, location & date!) to the end of the fans & use them as the dowels!! Oh my...I'm so excited!!! -
Good Luck!!!

What's your first dance song?
BachataBride replied to DRbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Some very great choices here!! FI and I are HUGE Dave Matthews Band fans! So it is only fitting that we have a DMB song as the first one we dance to as man & wife! We picked Steady as We Go - I love the words & the melody! We will be dancing our first dance on the clifftop where the wedding gazebo is immediately after the ceremony. I'm going to try & post the pics!!! Here goes... YAY!!! -
If you're TA said it is booked this could be the case. I just know from past experience (about a month ago!) that just because it's not showing up online doesn't mean its not available. I was constantly looking at the prices, gateways, etc for our trip, and one day I noticed that nothing was available!! I FREAKED!! My MOH still hadn't booked now there was nothing available!!! I contacted my TA in a panic & she said there were still seats available. Also, I checked a day later & it was available online again! Weird! Just their way of getting slackers to book I guess!! lol If this is not the case then I wish you luck in finding a flight for your MOH.

A simple elegant chain, with one teardrop crystal, or something like that. Personally, I am not a fan of the rounded necklaces, cuz I think they tend to look flat or something. The pendants give definition to the neck and chest area. I chose not to wear a necklace for my wedding, cuz I didn't think I needed it in my low v-neck dress. Looking back at pictures, I really wished I had a necklace on. Not sure really why, but then I did wear one for the AHR and I think it looked so much better. Ohhhh! I just thought of something that could be perfect! Well, the style anyway, not so much the color. but I just saved this etsy item to my favorites, cuz I really liked it for a dress that I am wearing to a wedding next month. Something with this simple style would be nice with your neckline. Etsy :: opheliax :: Golden Shadow Swarovski Wrap Necklace Actually looking at it again, it's kinda big as well. But I like the general style of this better for your dress.... I agree!! Well...with the idea!! I like the drop...but something a little simpler. Than the one posted above! I'm going for a casual palm tree pendant (my whole theme!!). Check out this forum... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29355 Good Luck!!

What is TTD?
BachataBride replied to mandalaybay3071's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Very nice...that's a great idea! Coerce Jeff into the shoot by having women rolling around in the water!! Why didn't I think of that!!
