Father daughter dance - NO
BachataBride replied to Bavaro-Princess's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
BlissfulMsMiranda, another option would be to walk yourself down the aisle. That way you don't offend anyone, and you don't have that nagging feeling of wishing it was your mom instead of your step-dad. Just a suggestion! I personally don't care if dad is offended if he has to "share" me with mom that day! He's just lucky he gets to be by my side at all!!! -
OMG! Our town is in shock & no one wants to go outside!!!
BachataBride replied to EricaG's topic in Just venting or funnies
That is so sad! I know if/when I ever have children I will frighten the crap out of them if I have to to make sure they are safe!! You just never know what could happen! I am thinking about you & the people in your town. Please god they find the b@$t@rd!! -
She got back to me that evening (Friday I think) twice! Maybe you should try again and just mention you're sending the second one because you're not sure if she got the first one. I have not heard from her since Friday though. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything!!!

I received an email from someone who recently was married at the RIU Bachata in Puerta Plata, Dominican Republic. This is what she had to say about the photographer... We were there for 2 weeks and our guest for just one. The photographer told us to come to his store friday to go through the picutres. We went and were told they weren't ready. Saturday morning we said our goodbyes with our family and friends and went back to the photographers store. Again were told not ready. Again Sunday we were told they're not ready. So finally sunday night i was getting upset and demanded to speak to the manager, CARLOS, who was one of the photographers. They called him at home and he said he'd be there in an hour. So we waited for Carlos. He finally arrived and brought us upstairs to his office. THEY LOST ALL OF OUR WEDDING PICTURES. He said they we're trying to retreive them on the computer that's why they kept telling us to come back day after day. He offered to do them all again, but everyone had already left as well as my wedding dress went home with my mom. I was so upset and crying, he told me it's no big deal. NO BIG DEAL!!!! It was a big deal, not only did he loose all of our pics but we lost 2 hours of our wedding day for what?!? We had pics on our camera as well as our families cameras. We contacted everyone that was there and got them to email their pics to Carlos. He played around with them and got us some pretty good pics. Not professional but good. He gave us 50 thanks you cards, bottle of rum with our pic on it, 2 mugs with our picture and 18*20 picture, and all of the pics he played with on a CD. We paid him NOTHING! I was soooooo disappointed with Carlos and the photography team at the Bachata. Oh not just our pics were lost but another couple that were married there the same day. Carlos assured me that he would continue to try to get our pictures, and gave me his email address to keep in touch. I've email him 4 times in the last year and a half and never gotten a response. Just thought I would give you RIU Bachata/Merengue/Mambo brides the heads up!! I am so glad I decided to hire my own photographer!!

Have you exercised today?
BachataBride replied to destinationbride07's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Well...I'm not really the athletic type!! I don't usually do much exercise, but I'd like to lose a few pounds before the wedding (and the bikini wearing!!). I walk my dog 15-20 mins every morning and then 20-30 (sometimes 45) every evening. I've also started doing a few crunches when I get back from my walks with the pooch! My friend and I are starting a Zumba class this evening - I'm soooo excited!!! I hope it's fun!!! -
For lost loved ones?
BachataBride replied to BachataBride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I went shopping across the Niagara Falls border to the US on Saturday with my girlfriends. I wasn't thinking about going to David's Bridal, but we happend to drive by one & we stopped in. I found this amazing charm for my bouquet. It's the memory frame type like you all suggested - and it's PERFECT!!! David's Bridal - Accessory C01349 FRAME THIS charm with 12mm lobster clasp. This is not a great pic, the other side of the top heart has CZ stones in it, so it's nice & shiny. I will have to take a pic of the one I have so you can see it better. Thanks everyone for all your help!!! -
Father daughter dance - NO
BachataBride replied to Bavaro-Princess's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am in the exact same position! Although we are not having the traditional dances (other than our first dance) I am a little stuck on the whole "who walks me down the aisle" bit. My step-father (who raised me) has passed away so he cannot do it. I would really love for my mom to do it since she has always been there & is my best friend. However, my biological father (I like to call him the sperm donor!) is attending my wedding and I feel bad not having him walk me as I'm sure he will be expecting to. I know it's my wedding and I can do what I want, but I don't want to feel any awkwardness that day either! I have decided to get both of them to do it - that way my mom is at my side (as always!) and my dad doesn't get hurt. Maybe you could dance half the song with your step-dad & the other half with your mom. Or you could have your father/daughter dance and then have a special dance with your mom. I have seen this done for people with special grandparents, or other special family members. Good Luck!! -
Welcome & good luck with the planning!!!

LOL...I'm just kidding!!! I'm not really sure if I will need it, I might go with real flowers. I was just thinking if shipping was cheap I could get it just in case. I'll see what shipping is!!

I think this will work out well. Good luck to you! That is exactly what we're doing! We are both flying to Newfoundland next summer (along with some of our friends from Ontario) to have an AHR (aka backyard BBQ!)!! I think I'm almost as excited about this as I am the actually wedding!!

Think thats about $8000 You don't have to hire a "home country" photographer. I live in Canada and am hiring an American photographer. Maybe you could look into that as an option! Good Luck!

Nutritional Cleanse - added bonus - lose weight!?

Chances are, they would advise against it. Oh my goodness no!! I would never! I don't want to mess with it...not while its settled!! -

Translation of documents - HELP!

MOGroom Thanks!!! If we did the legal marriage first we would need nothing but the marriage certificate though right?? No docs translated, etc. Would we still have to pay for the judge down there to do the renewal?? This is something to look in to. But I just don't think I'd feel the same...I'd love for us to look at each other during the ceremony on the clifftop & know that we becoming man & wife...other than that I feel that it's just a "show". Lovely, more decisions!! I thought this DW thing was supposed to be easy!! LOL -

Any one else taking a strip-tease class?

Just a little side note for everyone looking to lose weight in a "fun" way. I highly recommend Zumba! It is soooo much fun. It's a cardio class that utilizes samba, cha-cha, mambo, merenga, salsa, reggaetone, bellydance, and other moves to upbeat latin and american songs. I'm completely addicted and almost have all my coworkers convinced to take a class with me. It's a great way to shake your hips and booty. No dance experience needed. check out the official zumba website to learn more. So funny...a friend of mine & I just decided yesterday that we were going to try this out!!! We couldn't find any stip-tease classes...but thought this would be fun! I will keep you posted...I just hope I don't pull something with all the shaking going on!!! LMAO!!
