  1. Hi Yari, Those passport covers are so cute that I'm thinking of ordering a bunch of them and giving them out as guest favors. I was just wondering if you could describe what the quality is like. Is the material super thin? Does it feel like leather? Any info is appreciated! All the best, Myen
  2. Our guests are paying $2249 (incl tax) per person for 1 week at the Moon Palace in May 2009 from Calgary with Air Canada Vacations. We have a couple of guests that have an RCI membership that are paying $950 for all-inclusive accomodations only at the same resort and are hoping for a seat sale closer to the date of the wedding.
  3. Thanks for the info Pookie! I was worried about the wristbands as well, but kept forgetting to ask.

    Hi!!!

Hi Mikey, Welcome to the forum!
  5. Our group rate from Calgary with Air Canada Vacations for May 2009 was $2249 including tax. We're staying at the Moon Palace. I'm kicking myself now because I had gotten a quote back in February for $1891 (tax included) but hadn't entirely decided on the date for the wedding and procrastinated a bit and the price had gone up significantly. My advice is to book well in advance. Good Luck!
  6. Everything looks beautiful. Fantastic job! May I ask where you bought your passport covers and starfish necklace?
  7. You look beautiful in both but I love the first one. It's unique. The material looks so flowy and the color better compliments your skin tone.

I will hiring an outside photographer, however they will be staying at the Moon Palace as our guest for 2 nights. Will this pose any problems or conflicts with your outside vendor policy? Also, our Deluxe package includes a photo & video package. I wanted keep the videographer for the weddding, but since we have our own photographer, can we use the photo package for a different function like the welcome dinner? And this was her response: Hi Janice, Yes that would be fine if your photographer comes in as a guest. It’ll also be fine if you choose the photo package for your welcome dinner. So it would appear as if all is kosher with the resort. I would suggesting sending a similar e-mail with your WC to make sure you have it in writing so as to avoid any problems at the resort.
  9. wow, that's a lot of stuff for $15. I just might have to go this route! Thanks for sharing.

What a great package, far better then the hotel add ons. I may book them through CAA (our current travel provider-they have already booked the entire wedding group) Or if I can get a better price through another provider I will. Have you received any quotes yet? What are your plans? Great to chat Laura Hey Laura, My plans are to host an indoor private function in the Ballroom Carey. I believe that there is a 10:00pm time restriction with all of the outdoor venues so the ballroom gives us an opportunity to party and dance the night away! We're doing the same thing with Tamm's in that we're booking her a night's stay the day before and the evening of the wedding and doing the TTD/honeymoon shoot the day after. I'm planning on booking her accomodations through expedia as it comes out to $365/night, which is cheaper than what the resort charges at $380/night. I hadn't realized that you were a fellow Canuck. I'm in Calgary!

My WP had emailed me the following price list for the DJ earlier this year: Package 1 - Full 4 hours DJ, Sounds & Lights ($1150 tax included) Package 2 - Full 2 hours DJ, Sounds & Lights ($750 tax included) Package 3 - Full 4 hours Self CD or Ipod Music System ($350 tax included) Package 4 - Full 2 hours Self CD or Ipod Music System ($200 tax included) It doesn't look like the lights are included with the DIY sound systems. We're planning to go with package 1 and perhaps arrange for the DJ to stick around longer in case the guest don't want to stop dancing (which will likely be the case). I am super excited about Tammara. Are you arranging a 2 nights stay for her? If so, how are you planning on booking? We were thinking of just booking through expedia.
  13. Hi, I'll take the cake topper and all 11 Spanish for Dummies books. I'll pm you
  14. Hi Ladies, From what I've read so far, it looks as if everyone that has had their wedding at MP has brought their own music and plugged in their ipod/laptops into the music systems. Does anyone happen to know of any reviews where the couple has booked the resort DJ? We're looking into booking the full service DJ package ($1,150) but I was just wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with using them. Any advice will be much appreciated. On an another note, I've just booked Tammara of Tamm's Photography for our wedding! Cheers, Myen
  15. MP Ladies, Just wondering what you guys were doing for favors? I'm worried about having to haul a bunch of stuff on the plane. Cheers, Myen
  16. Andrea, Thanks so much for the detailed review. I am so glad I stumbled across it as it answered so many of my questions. I'm actually thinking of booking Tamm's Photography for our wedding. Were you 100% happy with her work?

Hi Lor, I'd be interested to see the DJ's top 200 playlist. We're going to be booking them as well, but will likely bring some of our own cds also, but it would be nice to see what tunes he already has handy. Thanks in advance! Myen

Jennifer, We're going to go with the resort photographer. We had purchased the Deluxe wedding package, but I think you have the option to upgrade the photo package with the WC when you get there. We'll likely end up doing that.

Perhaps I'll swing by and watch from the distance as I wouldn't want to intrude. Do you know what your plans are for your reception? I'm going to try to book the Ballroom Carey as I plan to hire a DJ (sound, lights and all) and I don't want to be restricted with the 10:00 curfew imposed on the outdoor terraces. Have your RCI guests book their flights as yet? My family is hoping that a seat sale comes up between now and May. Right now its about $950 for a flight from Calgary to Cancun.
  20. Congrats! We got enagaged in Venice four years ago. It's my favorite city in the world. Did you end up going on the gondola afterward?

I tell my guests 90%. ... for the guests that are REALLY concerned with the costs... I suggest they stay 3 nights at MP and then go find a bargin basement place elsewhere for after the wedding. I have a good majority of our guests that prefer it that way... especially those with timeshares, ect. They get to be a part of the wedding festivities... and then they get to have a vacation. I'm still working on a cost comparison... I just got back from a surgery, so I had to put it on hold. I'll keep working on it and see what I can come up with in the next week. Thanks Ash! I'm starting to make some major headway. I haven't sent out the invites as yet, but several family members who are RCI members have already booked the week of the wedding at the MP. One of my girlfriends that originally asked if she could stay at another resort and just come the day of the wedding is now opting to stay a the resort. Ash, is there a 3-day requirement for guest to stay at the MP or can they stay for 1 night and go back to their resort the next day? I've left a message with my WC inquiring about it, but have not yet heard back. Thanks
  22. Hi Ladies, Newbie here! Just wanted to introduce myself - my name is Janice. My FI and I are set to wed at the MP on May 14, 2009. We've arranged for the Deluxe Symbolic Package several months ago. I just happened upon this website and spent the last two days reading all 87 pages of your posts. There is so much valuable info that so many of my questions have already been answered! My original WC at the FL office was Elizabeth and thanks to you wonderful ladies, I found out that she was no longer there and called the office earlier today and discovered that my new WC is Marlyn. If it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't have known otherwise. Anyway, I am currently in the process of arranging for a group rate with my TA. I've gotten a lot of feedback already from my family and friends that it's going to be too expensive, as it sounds like many of you ladies are getting. My friends and family are all too accustomed to last minute vacations at bargain basement prices, so the quotes I'm getting back seem outrageous to them. I've had far too many people ask me if they can still attend my wedding if they stay at another resort and I don't really know what to tell them as I would prefer that everyone stay at the MP, so needless to say the last week or so has been a little stressful. So that's me and where I'm at in the wedding planning. Sorry for the long winded message. I can't wait to hear more about your special day and I can't wait to share mine. Cheers
