I'm not sure why some are saying negative things about the MP photographers but everything I've seen has been amazing. My own pictures receive compliments like "I've never seen wedding pictures like these!" or "The colors are beautiful!", etc. Now if you are looking for something different, more artistic, etc....that's something quite different but that doesn't have anything to do with the quality. I was thrilled with my photographs from the very beginning and remain so.

I had dinner at the arrecifies restaurant twice during my stay (my husband loved the skewered meat) and there is no indoor pool. It's still a good, fun place to have a welcome dinner though. There is still a lot of construction going on at Grand...more buildings, etc. so I'm going to guess that's why it has yet to be added to any map. It's beautiful at Grand...very quiet, very elegant with classical music playing in the background. There's not a whole lot going on there but relaxing. It's very close to the Tucan gazebo (within walking distance). We had an oceanfront room (as close as you can get) in Nizuc in the building beside the Tucan (I think it was the monkey building). It was absolutely beautiful....there aren't oceanfront rooms at Grand as far as I could tell. The buildings are a bit further from the ocean than the other parts.

Sorry I didn't get back to the questions sooner but after posting I awoke the next morning to a vicious ice storm (Tuesday morning) and have been without power ever since...I'm actually at my aunt and uncle's at the moment. I'm hoping that my power will return sometime next week. I've been living like a nomad nearly since I've returned from Cancun and I'm ready to be HOME. I'm not sure about a more detailed review. My wedding was VERY intimate (only my new husband and myself) so I didn't have to worry about a lot of details...basically the only focus was on THE WEDDING. As a matter of fact, after the ceremony and pictures, my husband and I went back to our room and changed into swim suits. We had our wedding dinner at the Italian at the golf course at 8 pm. I'm just not sure I have a lot of details left to add. The gazebo was the Tucan. It was my favorite. It was also the most private since it was closer to the end of Nizuc. We did have some trouble with people trying to cross the beach when we were in the middle of the photo session rather than simply going around us and our photographer had to stop several times to either wait or ask people to go around. I can't imagine trying to do this in an even busier area. Another problem was the fact that the morning of our ceremony, a "caterpillar" was on the beach close to our site moving around sand...made a mess. While the work had stopped by the time we were getting married, the sand in that spot didn't look "pretty" so we were limited in the area where we could take pics. It turned out okay though. My flowers were included in my package. I used the "tropical" mix that comes free with the packages and then chose the shape I wanted. I do wish that I'd asked them to add a few colorful roses into the mix but they were still beautiful. Another suggestion...I know the petals are an additional $35 per bag BUT they make such a splash in a few of the pictures. If you aren't planning to bring your own freeze dried ones, splurge on the petals.

I just got back from my wedding/honeymoon at MP yesterday. It was wonderful and just what I imagined for my private wedding. The pictures are divine and everything was beautiful. The salon at Nizuc did my hair and it was EXACTLY what I envisioned and exactly like the picture that I gave to the stylist. I had called to talk to someone about possibly doing my makeup but decided against it when they didn't want to use my makeup (I use minerals makeup because it works so much better on my sensitive skin). Kalena was my WC and she was so helpful (even explaining ways for me to get better deals...for example with the photo package and with flowers). You can actually have a lot of choice with your bridal bouquet...I chose the flowers that I wanted used and then I chose the "shape"...from the "free" choices with the packages. The photographer and videographer work together. They tell you exactly what to do down to where to put your hands, etc. They told me that I could chose poses/shots that I wanted but when I was in the moment I couldn't remember anything that I wanted to do. I would suggest having examples of some of the shots that you want so you don't forget. Don't get me wrong though...my pictures are wonderful and they really reflect how much my new husband and I love each other (I'm so THRILLED with them!) but I am having trouble deciding on one that's appropriate for our wedding announcement in the local newspaper. A more "formal", posed shot would have helped for this purpose. The MP is AMAZING. My husband and I actually visited both Cancun Palace and Sun Palace and the service at MP is second to NONE. While the beach at MP isn't perfectly clear, even from the beachside lounge chairs, it's still beautiful...and not many were actually "swimming" in the water at CP or SP either. The sand is cleaned of the sea grass several times a day and walking on the beach near the water is PERFECT. I can honestly say that I loved the beach at MP. It's so much wider and MUCH more expansive than the other hotels on the strip (that are practically on top of one another). You can find complete privacy when you want or you can sit near the activities area and watch or join in on the fun. The servers are wonderful and many remember you after a day or so and will say your drink preference before you even have to say it to them. They are truly there to serve you. We tipped at least a dollar...sometimes more (like at the Brazilian restaurant). The first/second day we arrived, we walked around the resort after waking up at about 3 AM after going to bed at 7 pm after a seemingly LONG day of travel. It was PERFECT. The only ones out and about (besides a few drunk people) were the staff who were working their tails off making everything at the resort perfect and yet would still stop to wish you a good morning or possibly ask if you needed anything! It was an amazing time.

I'm so happy that you had a great time. I'll be there next week!

Sarah, my wedding is next Wednesday and I've been worried about the time frame between getting my hair done (8 am) and the ceremony (11 am). I have been considering changing it. Did you think that you had enough time between the two? Or did you feel rushed and worried while your hair was being done? Thanks in advance!

1. To veil or not to veil? I'm not using a veil but this is my second wedding. I have a flower for my hair that I bought off ebay. 2. Have you seen the beach at MP b4? I haven't but it looks beautiful even with some of the seagrass. 3. Bug bites…We are bringing bug repellent of some kind. I would definitely let your guests know that they might need it or provide it for them. 4. Photogs….I'm using the resort photographer...the brides who have posted pictures seem happy with them. The beach shots look AMAZING! 5. What package are you doing? I am doing the free package and adding photos, CD, DVD, flowers (bride's and groom's), carriage, hair (undecided about makeup...I know, I'd better decide FAST!), and a small cake.

My situation is different. This is my second wedding and I'm in my mid 30s with 2 teenagers. My fiance has never been married but is extremely shy...he wanted it to just be us. I am very close to my parents and my sister (as in I see them almost every day)and he's close to one of his brothers but since I'd already been married, both of us felt that it was appropriate to have a dw with no guests. I did, however, want a WEDDING because this, really, is my first one...my first legal marriage was not a good one. If we had gotten married closer, it would have become a circus as I have a large extended family and my fiance didn't want that. We are going to have a party in the spring when it's warmer...it's not exactly going to be a reception but it kinda is and that part satisfies my family.

Hi! I'm really worried about my hair appointment. I have an early wedding on January 21 (my fiance wanted it as early as we could get it...11 am) and my hair appointment is at 8 am that morning. I'm planning to show up with my hair washed and dried already to save time but I've heard about wedding salon appointments taking 2 hours to complete. That would put me at 10 am with only an hour for dressing and makeup before the wedding starts...and I've also heard that you should be ready about 30 minutes before wedding because of various reasons...getting there on time...pictures...flowers, etc. I just hate to be rushed (and sweaty) when I'm getting married! My question is....what would YOU do? It doesn't show that there's a wedding scheduled after mine on the website...actually the next wedding seems to be 4 hours later so I could likely change the time for an hour later without much fuss. Remember, it's just me and my FH so I don't have to worry about already have the time on invitations, etc.

Friends engagement- am I overreacting?
Shires replied to jamaica2009bride's topic in Just venting or funnies
I guess it's just me but it doesn't make sense. She's already got it planned to the day that she's going to get engaged and how it's going to be done? I guess I like the element of surprise...sure I knew fi would propose soon but I would feel disappointed if I planned out exactly how it would play out...like I was an actor in a play. -
I'm getting married on Jan. 21, 2009 but I'm not having an AHR right away...we wanted to have a barbeque so we're going to wait for warmer weather...likely in May...need to set that date. I have a 4 year old nephew (I spoil him rotten) and several young cousins so I'm renting a couple blow up bouncies for outside and having it in my sister's HUGE garage and under a tent. I'm definitely not wearing my dress since it's very informal but I think it will be fun.

nibsmom, my wedding is a private one with just my fiance and me...so no worries about receptions or making other people comfortable. I really don't know what we'll do the rest of the day though. I cannot imagine trapsing around the resort wearing my wedding gown all day long...it's not *that* comfortable anyway. I want to do something fun and special...

Your pictures and review are wonderful. Who took your pictures? A question for anyone who might know...I have the earliest wedding time, 11 am. I am trying to find out what time the salon opens so I'm not rushing to get ready after my hair is done. Anyone know the time? Or if they work early just for this reason?
