I used Drysol for years, and it really was a miracle worker... BUT, if you use it too much (like every day), it can cause your skin to burn like you wouldn't believe--I mean the kind of pain that makes you cry. It also left a lot of red irritation. SO, I definitely would not put it on your face! If you're serious about using Drysol, make sure to start using it months before your wedding so you can have a better idea of what your skin can handle. Personally, I switched to Clinical Strength Secret, and I think it really almost as good. Just put it on at night--deodorant works better if you apply it at night.

Parasols for BMs

I just checked out both Asian Ideas and Koyal Wholesale's websites, and the straw fans on Koyal are less expensive. -
Parasols for BMs
Bridget810 replied to Prettyhazardous's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I didn't use Asian Ideas, but I used Lunabazaar for my BM's parasols, and I was pleased with them. I got the "mango swirl" parasols, and they are very cute. As for the straw fans, I'm thinking about getting mine at Koyal Wholesale. I'd love to hear some feedback from others on Asian Ideas though. -
I think it's okay to tell your FI that you knew/know his old best man, but if I were you, I wouldn't tell him any details--especially sexual ones! Trust me, guys really don't want to to know those things! Now, if he asks "did you date him" or anything specific, it's probably best to be honest. But if I were you, I'd only spill if asked.

Okay, what seems like in a span of just a few months, I've developed a serious case of eye wrinkles. They are there even when I'm not smiling! AND, I'm only 28, and never go in the sun. I think it's just bad genes (my younger brother seems to have a similar problem). Anyways, my wedding is 3 months away and I need to find anti-wrinkle eye cream that works (and no, I'm not expecting a miracle, just something that will make a difference). I've been using Garnier's ultra-lift anti-wrinkle eye firming cream for months now, but I swear it's only gotten worse. Does anybody use something that actually makes a difference--preferably something OTC and not hundreds of dollars?

bcbride: my dress is ivory (though, due to the dressing room lighting, it makes it look a bit more ivory than it actually is). As for the dress you may be interested in, I would at least try it on and see how it looks. The dress I bought was not one that I was impressed with at all while looking at a picture of it, or seeing it on the rack. But once I put it on, I knew it was perfect for me! Furthermore, dresses often look a bit different on the models; check out the "You vs. the Model" thread to see what I mean!
-
To bcbride; yes, on the model it looks a bit cheesy; however, I think it might have to do with how little she is! It might look good on a "real" person. On her, it overwhelms her! Do you have a picture of yourself in it? **ducks and covers over expressing opinion due to drinking 3--and counting--beers**

Okay, so apparently I was born without the gene that most females are born with; the shoe and purse gene. I honestly just don't care (usually) about either. I go for comfort and practicality. However, for my wedding, I would really like a nice pair of heels to wear. Here's my problem; first of all, they HAVE to be comfortable--I'm a flip flop/sneakers type of girl, and I don't want to be miserable on my wedding day. However, to a girl that wears heels all the time, her idea of "comfortable" might be different than mine (my problem with asking my BMs for advice). Secondly, I'm really short, so I would really like to wear a 2 1/2 to 3 inch heel to make me look slimmer and taller. I've heard that such heels exist--comfort and beauty... but where? I'm wearing an ivory dress that has some crystals on it (Maggie Sottero's Alexandria). I would love to hear from brides-to-be or brides who have purchased feminine/pretty/comfy heels. Please help!!! (PS I did a forum search, but couldn't find anything that related directly to my inquiry). (PPS FYI; I do not have those wonderfully dainty narrow feet that some girls are blessed with; I did gymnastics for too many years and broke too many toes!)

I'm going to have crystals sewn on to make it look a bit fancier (and to match my dress). My sister-in-law used a Hobby Lobby veil for her wedding (she had some lace sewn on hers), and it looked just like a $250 one, so I figured I'd copy her idea and save a hundred or so dollars! So, if you have a Hobby Lobby nearby, I would suggest picking up one of their veils and see how you like it; you can always return it if it's not what you want!

Davids Bridal
Bridget810 replied to nikkigard's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
FYI: David's Bridal sells your phone number and email address to other vendors (they make you "register" before you can try on dresses. I get so many annoying phone calls, from 8am and even at 9pm. It's ridiculous! Other than that, my actual experience at David's Bridal was so-so. I went to one that was chaotic, and I was completely miserable, but then I went to another one, and it was much nicer, but I still wasn't really impressed with their service. I personally preferred the smaller boutiques (where I ultimately got my dress). But, of course, it really depends on the specific store! -
What's your favorite "midnight" snack???
Bridget810 replied to KLK's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
An organic/whole wheat version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch our local grocery store sells--with Skim Milk.. it's just so crunchy and delicious! (Or whatever is in the fridge that's leftover!) -
I didn't give much thought to this until I read through some of the "unread posts" on BDW... .I'm getting married on May 11th 2009, and not a single person has booked or made any type of reservations... (although I have about 30 people who say they are planning on coming). To be fair, we haven't made our hotel or airline reservations yet either (hoping for cheaper rates), but I started to panic reading through posts that say "only 20 people have booked, and I'm getting married June 2009!!!" or what-not. Just wondering if I should start panicking, start harrassing my guests, or just wait a a bit longer. I just started to think: OMG, what if no one comes So, what I guess I'm fishing for, is when did people start booking for you guys?

Yup, I'm with Cattie. I doubt his wife would find it romantic that he's piggy-backing on someone else's day! So, if you want to take the blame off of yourself, just suggest that his wife would probably appreciate her "own special day"; not one that she has to share with someone else. And, yes, men are often clueless! If I had a nickel for every time a guy friend proposed to his girlfriend during a wedding day (completely tacky), I'd be a very rich girl.

Found The Dress!!

The back of your dress is absolutely jaw-dropping! Gorgeous! (And the front...wow!!) -
How many people are you having?
Bridget810 replied to RRsmile's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
It's looking like it will be around 25 to 30 people for me. No one has booked yet (though to be fair, we haven't made any reservations ourselves), so that number may increase or decrease. -
Definitely check out TripAdvisor for reviews of the hotels. Also, go to the forum at TripAdvisor, and do a forum search for "wedding"; and you'll get a wealth of information. And, of course, do a search of BDW, and I'm sure you'll find even more information! Good luck in your planning, and congratulations

Any Other Georgia Peaches Out There?!?
Bridget810 replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in Random Thoughts
Oh gosh, Grant Park has been in news so much lately. When I lived in Decatur, I used to visit friends in Grant Park all the time, and it always seemed like such a safe place! Regardless, what a beautiful and neat area to live in. -
Any Other Georgia Peaches Out There?!?
Bridget810 replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in Random Thoughts
Hello girls, I'm a Georgia Peach as well! I live in Athens right now, but I've also lived in Sky Valley, Milledgeville, Young Harris, and Decatur. It's nice to know there are other Georgia gals on BDW!
