Battery Powered Paper Lanterns
sunsetbride1 replied to avramnanan's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Do you have an example of what you are looking at? I think that battery operated lanterns are safer... you can probably buy paper lanterns and then put Battery-Operated 4-pc. Flickering Tealight Candle Set : Target in them. They burn for 48 hours. No clue how bright they are though... -
All of these posts going around about using tequila as a wedding favor and having shots instead of a toast really have me inspired. My family and my friends are a hard partying sort of group. Needless to say, there will be a lot of drunken frivolity at our wedding. I love the idea of liquor as a favor and/or doing shots as our toast. But, I am stumped on what kind of alcohol is DR inspired? Any ideas?

Sometimes mothers can be difficult... It's hard when the child becomes the parent and the parent becomes the child. I agree with everyone else... I would sit your mother down for a real tough love heart to heart. Tell her that you love her and value her opinion; but need her to support you even if you don't incorporate her vision into your wedding planning. And if that doesn't work, tell her if she has nothing positive/supportive to say; then don't say anything at all. I will echo sentiments voiced on BDW many times over; this is your wedding.. make it your vision. Those that love you will be happy when it's all said and done; because you are happy by having the celebration of your dreams. Hang in there!!! I completely understand when it comes to difficult mothers.. (mine isn't even coming to my wedding nor does she have anything to do with it!).

Dreams PC - Booking the Date
sunsetbride1 replied to Jocy's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I booked mine back in July 2008 for August 2009... the only thing is with booking so far in advance is that the prices for the following year may not be available yet. I worked with Miguelina (the Dreams PC WC) on it and secured my prices early. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions. -
Tequila wedding favors?
sunsetbride1 replied to misha79's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
What a great idea.. we were considering doing something like that either as a favor or in our OOT bags. But, its pure genuis to buy small bottles and fill from from a larger. Go for it!! If I were a wedding guest, I would love to get a bottle of tequila or other liquor as a favor! -
I think that you are both going through a huge transition. Living together is a very, very different ballgame than just spending all your free time together. Before, not matter what.. you each had your own space to retreat to (own home) if you needed to get away; taking away that safety net even if you never used or or consciously acknowledged it was there is a huge shock to your relationship. Personal space is such an important part of having a partner; and that is what your Fh is... a partner in your life. You need to both have yourselves and yourselves with eachother. Part of the fighting may be both of your subconscious' way of fighting for your identity. That's one of the biggest fears for an independent person when they move in togehter and especially get married; the loss of their own identity. And in the end, once it's realized that you can still be yourself, have your own space and identity - along with having a blissful partnership... the little stuff will stop bothering both of you as much. Personally, Fh and I will spend time in the same house doing different things for periods of time. He loves to play computer games (I know.. sigh..) - so he gets his game night once a week and I either go out with my friends or sit downstairs and watch silly Lifetime girly movies. The most important thing (as someone else said) is learning to let the little stuff go.. is it really a big deal that he never changes the toilet paper roll or I leave the kitchen cabinets open?!?! Fh and I do fight.... that's part of what we do! He tellls me when I am being a complete and I tell him when he is being an . That is why we work, we keep eachother in line. As long as your fighting NEVER EVER crosses the line of respect; then you have nothing to worry about. It will get better. Fairytales romances that are perfect.. are just that.. fairytales.

"The Straw That Broke This Camel's Back"
sunsetbride1 replied to sunsetbride1's topic in Just venting or funnies
Thank you again everyone!!! =) I signed up for the WW Online.. so we will see how that goes! Just taking control of it and knowing that I am not the only one; makes me feel so much better... Now all I have to do is lose 25 pounds... LOL. -
They are both stunning!!! I am also considering a non-traditional gown; but you never know.. I may go back to traditional by time I buy one. All of the suggestions on here are good ones for non-traditional gowns. I also am a huge fan of Nicole Miller gowns. I am considering getting one myself... she has some amazing colors and shapes. Although, they may be a bit more tame than what you are looking for. =)Long Dresses - Nicole Miller Official Store Also, check out this site; they have location in Manhattan.. but you can find most of their dresses at department stores or the designers stores. And they have a great return policy. Formal Gowns and Dresses

"bridesmaids being picky"
sunsetbride1 replied to latinalocany's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
The 2nd dress is very flattering on all shapes and sizes.. I had all of my BM's try it on togther and they all looked great (from the tall, thin, size 0 yoga master to the 5'2 with amazing curves). Needless to say, all of them couldn't agree it on it; so it didn't matter anway. LOL! I am with a lot of the other girls in considering the VS 7-1 Convertible Dress. I just have to find my dress so I can choose a color scheme. Either way, I do agree that it is YOUR day and your vision. Pick what you like and what fits your dreams. -

I had the same moment last night!! I started to look through pictures on my KodakGallery (both myself and all of my friends use it post pics of our 'outings' and celebrations).. I freaked and barely recognized myself from pics 2 - 3 years ago compared to now. I was showing my BM some of them today from 3 years ago and she said "OH... is that really you?" She knew me back then.. LOL. I guess when it happens gradually; none of us realize it. -

My issue is late night binge eating... Hopefully I can kill 20 lbs by April - good luck to us! Yeah for us!!! We can do this Hmmm.. binge eating. I see the veggies are 0 points; maybe eat those at night. Personally, I am a 'salt' craver... I found ranch soycrisps that I can have 17 of for 2 points. YUM!!!

Shoe advice needed please...

Thank you so much everyone for sharing your experiences with me!! It actually makes me feel a bit better to know that this is not unusual. Mind you, for me, it doesn't make IT better... but easier to deal with knowing I am not alone. Okay, Im going to find a way to track everything I eat and I added the weight loss calculator to my siggy to keep myself accountable. Maybe WW is the way to go.. I will post on that forum to see what's up and what ppl think. Thank you again everyone... *Sigh* this too shall pass!!!
