    At Last!

Welcome fellow Canadian! Good luck with your planning there is a lot of information on this forum - although I find it hard to navigate. Good luck
  2. We have finally decided after some agonizing discussions to have a destination wedding. We have looking at the Couple's Negril, and the Sandals Dunn's River in Jamaica and the Paradisus Playa Conchal in Costa Rica. I would like to get more information on the Couple's Negril and the Paradsisus? We are looking at getting married the last week of January 2009 so we need to get a jump on it! Help
  3. Your pictures are beautiful. I am totally confused as to which resort to book but after seeing your pictures and hearing your great reviews my decision will be that much easier. Thanks for that great review!
  4. We haven't picked our destination yet and as our first trip was to Costa Rica and is is very special to us we are looking into the Paradisus for our wedding. I have heard nothing but good for this resort and Costa Rica is truly a jem!!! You can check out resort reviews at Caribbean and Mexico Travel & Resort Reviews - Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews or Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor. I would be interested to hear from others who have gotten married there. Good luck!!!
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the forum. You will find lots of info here - and make friends as well!
  6. That is a beautiful little resort, would be so nice for a small wedding there. With having guest coming my thinking is 'things to do', also all-inclusive option. The larger resorts aren't as romantic. Save these little gem resorts for your one - year anniversary!!!
  7. We got engaged at the Almond Morgan Bay February 24, 2008. The resort is beautiful, clean, the staff were great and the food was amazing. If you are looking for a long white sand beach this is not the place. The beach is small and we didn't find the water to be crystal clear blue green - I've been to nicer beaches. There is a gazebo that is atop a hill which looks over the ocean (kinda pretty), we took some pics there after we were engaged. They do have a great kids club which has a pool, food, games room and staff supervising. Hope this helps - if you need further info I will try to be of help to you.
  8. Congratulations!! Your wedding slide show was amazing - definately captured the day - kudos to the photographer! So sorry you were sick, but it sounds like you made the best of it. Again CONGRATS!!
  9. I would love to take part in this sig picture challenge but I do not have the 'privileges' to post pictures yet. Guess I need to be a member longer - or am I doing something wrong?
  10. I'm only kidding about the 'quit your job' thing!!!
  11. I totally agree that the only way to keep up is quit your job and be on the computer 24/7. I find myself getting carried away (at work - oops) and spend more time then I should reading etc. This is a great forum with lots of information. I too am a newbie trying to navigate my way thru this site! Some very interesting stuff! Good luck and try not to stress out - this is suppose to be a wonderful time of your life.
  12. The new dress is beautiful! Remember that losing weight can be a struggle and you may be added more stress on yourself! Wedding planning is stressful enough! Do what makes you feel happy! Good luck with the weight loss and good luck with the dress(es)!!!

  14. I've e-mailed the Cuba Consulate and received the following e-mail. According to them if you have been marriied more than two years to need an Affidavit of Single Status as well!!!! This gives you all the information needed. Good Luck - let me know how you all make out!!!! Read carefully the information below. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO GET MRRIED IN CUBA IF YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED TO A CUBAN CITIZEN: IF YOU ARE SINGLE: Birth Certificate, Affidavit of Single Status. IF YOU ARE DIVORCED: Birth Certificate, Divorce Certificate IF YOU ARE WIDOWER: Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate If you are divorced and your divorce took effect more than two years ago, you also need an Affidavit of Single Status stating that since you got divorce you’re not remarried again. If you weren’t born in Canada you have to obtain a letter from the Consulate or Embassy of your country of birth stating that your birth certificate was issued according to the regulations of the government and that the documents can be considered valid. I am also inform you that if you got married in Cuba and got divorce in Canada it is not enough to present a Divorce Certificate from Canada, you have to register your divorce in front of the Cuban authorities. If this is your case please let us know to inform you how to proceed. Your name in your Birth Certificate has to match with your name in the rest of the documents. If not an Affidavit is required to prove you are one and the same person. IF YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED TO A CANADIAN CITIZEN OR A PERSON WHO’S NOT CUBAN: IF YOU ARE SINGLE: Valid Passport IF YOU ARE DIVORCED: Passport, Divorce Certificate IF YOU ARE WIDOWER: Passport, Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate Passports don’t have to be translated or legalized. If you are divorced and your divorce took effect more than two years ago, you also need an Affidavit of Single Status stating that since your divorce your not remarried again. I am also inform you that if you got married in Cuba and got divorce in Canada it is not enough to present a Divorce Certificate from Ontario, you have to register your divorce in front of the Cuban authorities. If this is your case please let us know to inform you how to proceed. Your name in your Passport has to match with your name in the rest of the documents. If not an Affidavit is required to prove you are one and the same person. HOW TO PREPARE THE DOCUMENTS: Take the originals to a Public Notary and get CERTIFIED COPIES of the documents stating that the documents are true and valid copies of the originals issued by competent authorities in the Province. Same Documents have to be Officially Translated into Spanish. This should include a Statutory Declaration of the Translator signed by the Public Notary. LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS: The process of legalizations takes from 10 to 15 days. The fee for legalizations is $ 160.00 CAD per document (each document in English and each document in Spanish as a result of the translation) Translations fee is $ 48.00 CAD, per page. All services requested by mail must include a non-personal fee of $ 32.00 CAD and a pre-paid envelope to send you back the documents once legalized. Rush fee is $ 32.00 CAD per documents; you will have the documents within 3 days.
  15. Hello we are planning to get married in Cuba March 2009 and I'm doing some reading regarding the documentation required.....Apparently (according to the Cuban Consulate 1. If you have never been married before, all you need is a passport that is valid throughtout your stay in Cuba and a tourist card which can be obtained from your travel agent, airline or Cuban consulate. 2. If either the bride or groom has been married before, the previously married person must, in addition to the valid passport and tourist card, also produce the following documents: if divorced: his/her birth certificate and Certificate of Divorce if widowed: his/her birth certificate, Certificate of Marriage and Certificate of Spouses' Death Also, you must have your birth certificate and any divorce/marriage/death documents translated into Spanish and certified by a notary public and legalized by the Cuban Consulate in Canada (service fees apply) Fees: $160.00 for each document legalized by the Cuban Consulate $48.00 translation fee $32.00 mailing fee. Only a money order or certified cheque are accepted - no credit cards! There is other information that you must provide - please see Travel Tips - GoCuba.ca - Cuba Tourist Board in Canada! Has anyone done this already?
