Oddly, as much as I was thinking "these aren't really the colors I was going for," the adjoining pewter colored metallic cardstock and green envelopes arrived today and the colors match perfectly. Whats supposed to be more of a pretty and soft tropical green has turned out more like split pea soup.... but whatever.

I think I crossed that line tonight when it came to our invitations. I spent hours designing our invitations in photoshop and finally took them to be printed at the UPS store this last weekend. I was happy with them when we brought them home, but the more I think about it, the colors turned out a little too dark and it's been on my mind. I made the error of asking my FI about it, and he gave the token "I could care less what the colors are" response of 'They look fine.' I don't just want 'fine.' I spent hours trying to perfect the damn things and all you can respond with is 'fine'?!?!? Well, being the rational one, he stated that I could pay to have them reprinted if I really want to, but its irrelevant. And he's right... I think... As much as we get caught up in wanting everything to be flawless, we lose sight of whats important. Honestly, you could spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars and/or countless hours on making the stupid things perfect, but they inevitably just end up in the trash. I'm done worrying about it. I'll leave well enough alone.

I'm in the same boat as you, except my FI will only budge so far.... and anything more than a $1,000 is out of the question. As important as photography is to me, we have to look at the big picture. $2000 extra toward a photographer means $2,000 further away from a down payment on a house. We're planning on using the resort photog because we simply cant afford the rates plus accommodations of a professional. Fortunately, the Moon Palace's photog looks like he's decent enough, and maybe with some guidance of specific shots wanted, we'll end up with a lovely album to show the grand kids. I wish you the best of luck! Keep your chin up!

Wow you guys have been busy in here today! Attachment 2605 Attachment 2606 Hale, per your request I've attached some photos of the ceremony locations. Marlyn responded to the Catholic Chapel inquiry. She stated that Catholic ceremonies will take precedence the day of the ceremony, however she will make a note to our file and if the chapel gazebo is not in use, we may use it. Also, the 45 minutes for photography is what the approximate time I was quoted. Fortunately, the resort is now offering some upgraded packages which include the ceremony, family, bride & groom, and two hours of the reception. Because we are not having our reception there, I've submitted an inquiry to find out if we can use those two hours for the preparations in lieu of reception shots. I haven't heard back yet about the minister's response to my modified script. As soon as I do, I will let you guys know. Is anyone aware of a price list/availability list for flowers through the resort? OR has anyone used an outside vendor in mexico for their flowers (not silk)? Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue

I love it! I'll keep an eye out for ya. I just got to thinking about it because I figured out my something old and it manages to represent a special family member who has passed. My great grandmother was irish catholic and I somehow inherited her crystal and silver rosary that had been blessed by the pope in the early 50s. I will wrap it around the ribbon of my bouquet. -
Gigi! Good luck with the planning!

Pretty much everything on our registries are upgrades in a functioning household, however there is an aluminum vase that looks like an aspen tree trunk that I'm in love with. It completely incorporates (I think) both my FI's style and my own which is almost impossible. I might actually splurge and purchase it after the wedding...

Is anyone aware of which flowers are available and in season to the Cancun area in March/April? I'm specifically trying to figure out a bouquet in shades of green with a little white, and was thinking jade roses, mini white calla lilies, green spider mums, and maybe lady's mantle. Any insight would be much appreciated!

The resort website permits you to check wedding time availability by date. On our wedding day, there currently shows that 2pm, 5pm, and 6pm are not available. Ours is the 5pm time slot. I sent Miss Marlyn an email last night stating that others have been permitted to reserve and use the chapel for non-Catholic services and that I wish to reserve it at this time. We'll see if I have any success. Its not like our event is going to be really ornate. We're having a non-denom symbolic ceremony with about a dozen guests, photos with the resort photog, and just having dinner at one of the restaurants. For the few details that there are, I want things to be just so.

Hangover Relief pills
DWandMJ replied to Cattie's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I agree with the posting about Vitamin B Complex. My mother swears by it, but it should be taken prior to indulging as the strong smell and potency after may make you feel worse. -
***More questions For those that have already wed, has anyone stood in front of the alter table, rather than behind? Can the minister stand behind the alter, as is traditional? Did/Is anyone opting to remove the red carpet and choosing to scatter petals over the aisle? For anyone that has wed or will be wedding in the chapel gazebo, were the white pew covers included? If not, what do they run?

We're getting married on April 2, 2009. Marlyn is telling me that we are not allowed to use the catholic chapel unless we're having a catholic ceremony, which we aren't. If that were the case, then why on earth is the crucifix (sp?) removable? I've read about a number of other people having their non-catholic weddings there and I'll be pretty upset if I miss out on the opportunity because my Miami Sales Coordinator isn't provided with the same information that others were. I'm not particularly partial to the arch in either of the other two gazebos, so the chapel is ideal. And don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the Miami girls, because I know their hands are tied, but it will really piss me off if the two other ceremonies being held on our wedding day get first choice of the ceremony location because they were given more complete information. I dropped an email to Marlyn requesting to be put into contact with a coordinator in Cancun because the majority of the questions I have can be better answered by them, and she stated that she submitted a request. Did you call Cancun directly to make your reservations? Or did your S.C. in Miami set things up?
