  1. Ok I'm have a completely non-traditional wedding dress. My dress is a modern/vintage art deco style. It's silk but it's lined and it's light and comfortable which you'd never guess by looking at it. http://www.matthewchristopher.com/im...etail_full.jpg I originally wanted a beachy chiffon dress and they just looked terrible on me.
  2. Hi Lilly - I've never called so I can't help you there I'm afraid. Have you been assigned a specific wedding coordinator? They have a direct line you can call. I got a group booking through my travel agent with a pretty good price locked in for a specific type of room, the swim up suite which was much cheaper than going directly through Karisma. Just depends on your travel agent though.
  3. Allisa I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope he recovers quickly! Just don't stress, wish for the best for him and even if he is a little "high" during the wedding at least he'll have fun and won't be in pain. If you feel overwhelmed try taking a walk around the block and just clear your mind. I know that might sound weird but it always helps me escape for just a moment. We're all sending you our positive thoughts, you can do this, don't worry!

  5. Christie... wow... good for you, I'd tell her to stay the hell home too! Man if my sister called me and told me she was considering getting married 3 days after me would have screamed at her telling her, she had her chance and sorry her engagement has now expired!!! HAHAHA! The funny thing is, your sister is the one being so selfish and thinking she can do whatever she wants and doesn't think how it would affect you at all. How dare she talk to you like that, she's just jealous that she's been lagging on getting married for over a decade! I'm glad your mom's on your side, that's how you know you're right
  6. Wow!!! Good taste girl, I love these dresses! I wouldn't be able to choose either... #1 - Definitely AMAZING, unique and more of a runway look #2 - Beautiful and sophisticated, would photograph well It all comes down to how it looks on you because that could change everything! Good luck, post pix when you decide
  7. My FI picked out a Tungsten ring as well! I did love the price especially when my band ended up being MUCH more than we expected, LOL!
  8. Coffee Mugs, Shot Glasses, Wine Glasses, Beer Mugs, Promotional Products, Tote Bags, Champagne Glasses, Wedding Favors , Sports Bottles, T-shirts, Promotional Pens & personalized Glassware. This website also have really low minimums on totes and some other items. Picking a bag that everyone will like is much harder than I expected

  10. Wow when I saw title of this thread I screamed in my head "THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHS!!" the back specifically. I workout and diet and no matter what I'm still in mystery as to why they don't match the rest of my body. Grrrr
  11. You are not at ALL wrong!!! It's your day and you're organizing and paying for it which gives you the right to decide who will make it special and better by their attendance. What she did was truly shady and I will no longer be friends with someone like that either! My BF/MOH's cousin has always started drama and talked sh*t about me behind my back to her for over ten years now... when she found out she wasn't invited to my wedding she asked about 10 of my guy friends to take her as their date and complained when none of them would Ridiculous!
  12. Congrats and welcome!! After awhile you'l realize that you can't really listen to the reviews too much. People have varying opinions of whats good and bad and expectations as well. I suggest you decide on what kind of wedding you want (families with kids or adults only) if you want something that caters to a particular religion, price per guest etc. Speak to a travel agent that travels to their brides destinations and knows first hand how the hotel is like to deal with. AI is FANTASTIC by the way... if you get a moderately priced and clean hotel, AI is the only way to go. It's so nice getting there and not having to carry cash or worry about what you can afford to eat/drink. I stayed at The ROYAL Cancun last year a month after I got engaged and was so impressed by how beautiful Mexico is and how good the food was at an AI that I was sold on doing our wedding in Mexico. Checking out the different threads here for various hotels will help as well. Good luck!
  13. Welcome! I too was looking at this forum before I was even engaged I'm a serious planner and like weighing all my options first. This site is a lifesaver, all the girls here are so helpful!

  15. Man that is completely thoughtless!! I would try and talk to her about it and see if they can push it back a little. You got engaged first and you have seniority over her wedding. The best part is that I'm sure you've already got people that are for sure coming to your wedding and like the other girls mentioned, Hawaii is VERY expensive. My BF & MOH and I got engaged 3 months apart, her in Nov, me in February and in our planning she took priority naturally. We changed our dates many times and she got married June 2009 and I'm getting married (like you ) May 2010. It's only fair that she make it easy for you and your guests ESPECIALLY since you're family. Just a nice phone chat might be nice, email sometimes can get out of hand if you're not careful. Good luck!!!

Welcome and congrats Lilly!! We're all happy to answer any questions you have
  17. I love these!!!! I designed my avatar with inspiration of a vintage stamp, that is so freakin' creative of this girl!
  18. Meghan - I fully plan on telling all my guests to go 5 minutes to the left, I saw on a Trip Advisor review a photo of the beach next door and it's GORGEOUS, that's my solution Ash - I thought the rental was pretty ridiculous as well, makes sense that it would be. I hope your kiddy feels better soon! Emergen-C does wonders if you can get a hold of some. Your dress is beautiful! I love the details and the flowy back

I have had some confusing moments and am sure to have more but in my research (looking at resorts in MX for a year after I got engaged before deciding) and for what I need it's perfect and I'm satisfied. In my research, other hotels have a lot of pricey additions as well and limited options, the only difference may be the allowance of outside vendors. I too am bringing my own photographer as he is a "personal friend" and no worries. If you're creative you can figure things out and get your way. It just depends on if you are looking for cost effective or amenenties. Planning a destination wedding is a lot different than I expected and a lot more fun at the same time. If I didn't have BDW I think I would have nixed the entire idea
  20. I'm glad we're on the same page! As far as the website hits, I have been emailing people every once in awhile through the website promoting the special pricing on the rooms and encouraging people to book early. I'm really staying on top of it and reminding people so that they get the best price, I'm sure I'm annoying but it's for their benefit. It's funny because MOST of the wedding party hasn't booked yet, of course, they're making life difficult! I also know once I give the RSVP by date I'll get about 10 more RSVP's. I am getting married @ Azul Sensatori in Puerto Morelos, about 20 minutes outside of Cancun
