I'm doing the Donkey Cocktail hour with the 5 Mexican passed canapes on the yoga palaps on the beach, which may or may not be offered anymore. I'm doing a private reception on the Zocollo Terrace with the Surf & Turf, steak and lobster, appetizer is a trio of ceviche & dessert is chocolates with raspberries. It was the only thing I could think of that all my guests would like.

I know it really is no one else's business! So annoying, it's mostly his BM that thinks I'm a terrible person for wanting to keep my name. FI would NEVER take my last name or a different or new name, no way, I kinda want to ask him to see how he reacts because that would be amusing -

I forgot to mention this... Karen, I fully planned to not take my FH's last name especially because I don't like it No offense, I just don't. We've gotten into many an arguement about this, FI is super old fashioned and was REALLY hurt and offended that our children (what children?!) won't be carrying on his name... anyways, my plan was to get married and let people call me what they want and not legally change my last name but I think I may have to. Only because I don't want to offend him, is this me being weak? I've gotten rude responses to me not wanting to take his name from friends! "You HAVE to take his name" "why would you do that to him?" WOW, I had no idea we were back in the times where woman were not created equal or independant to chose as they please. Anyways... I'm on the fence at this point, even got a card in the mail yesterday to "Mr. & Mrs. (FI's last name) and I handed it to him and said, "here for you and your Mrs. (blank) whoever she may be" he just laughed. Does anyone feel this weird, we sould like his parents sorta feeling? I can't shake it. -

Cindy - I had the same thought when I saw Pam but they throw in the graduates I think to associate "real people do this too" sorta thing. I completed P90X last year and am on month 3 now and I never bulked up, just toned up and lost weight. Kwaits - I'm following the eating plan, calories and portions not totally perfectly but for the most part. It seems to work better for me personally when I do. -

Wow a lot to catch up on!! Karen - Wow what a d-bag... I would have TOLD her off! Anyways, it's probably better you didn't but I'd definitely put her in her place to know that she needs to respect you and can't speak to you like that especilly since it wasn't even you're fault! We're all so close to our weddings and extra on edge and emotional so one more week and then you're done! Just keep picturing yourself on the beach with a cocktail... ahhh! Good luck with your final fitting today! Jenny - That's ridiculous! Can't they see that you will be gone and respect that People sometimes I swear... I hope you ladies are all doing well, I'm literally taking things one day at a time and doing what I can each day and trying not to freak out. So far it's working alright... knock on wood! -

So many times with this type of communication you do not have a face to put with a name. In this case I feel as if I am talking to one of my girls. I am totally freaking out because our wedding is 6 months from tomorrow and I have no dress, no invites, no save the dates, no bridesmaid dresses. I feel like I am so behind. On top of everything we just bought a house and I am trying to redecorate. I feel like a chicken with my head cutt off. I am sorry to vent but It just keeps coming. I do?? Aww that's fun! I love it when new people/friends remind me of my girls, makes it more comfortable, you're friend must be amazing! haha! Wow! You've taken a lot for sure but anything can be done in 6 months, just work on stuff every day. Dress is #1 for sure! Nail that down and you'll feel fabulous, bridesmaids dresses can be easy, are you buying them for them? I literally told my girls, "wear your favorite black dress that comes to your knees and black heels" they loved this and it required no thought or effort on my part! Are you a DIYer? I'd say send a nice email OR free VistaPrint postcard save the date out now, then either buy and print out the invites yourself and get some bridesmaids to help fold and stuff them. You can do it! Now that I'm 2 weeks away, I'm surprised by what I can get done in a night after working all day and working out. Put a list together and work on one thing at a time!

We went all the way to Atlanta to find it (there are only 2 retailers in the entire south). The whole way there I just kept hoping the trip would be productive. Could you imagine driving 7 hours only to go back home and buy a dress?! The best part of it all was my mom paid for it!! She initially told me all she could contribute was $500 and the dress was much more than that so it was all totally unexpected and greatly appreciated. On top of finding my dress I also found the BMs jewelry @ Macy's One Day Sale. This was a big deal because I got hooked on necklaces that I found months ago. I finally purchased them to find they looked horrible in person! Amy - I would like to add my to do list please. I've been trying to sick to a list like you suggested, but I got help from an unexpected place. Since my BMs fell off with helping me because they all seem to be going through stuff right now, FI's cousin has stepped up to help me. It all kinda threw me off my list because she has many great ideas, but I needed the help. So, hopefully, now I can make the list and stick to it. dstinationdrmr (Meredith's) to do list: - pick a photographer already!! - finalize FI/GM suits and ties - buy gift for officiant - buy his ring - finish compiling addresses - set up pre-marital counseling - order sample bouquets - update website for BMs Also, are any of you familiar with bloom boxes? If not look it up. FI's cousin actually told me about them. I'm thinking it may be a good alternative to renting the resort's $20 vases or packing them. Let me know what you all think about them. YAY!!! Congrats on finding your dress!! How exciting! I know we'd all love pictures if you want to share it Sounds like you're getting a lot done! It's so nice when unexpected people jump in and want to help, makes you feel good I've added it to the list!! Ok, no problem, music can be easy to choose, we just need to narrow it down. Do you want some votes? What is your processional song and what versions are the options? Also, have you searched BDW? There are a handful of threads that breakdown everyone elses options for each moment, signing the register, recessional etc. That should give you options. Maybe to compromise, you split the songs, half are you choice, half are his. Just so you choose the songs quickly Quote: Originally Posted by dstinationdrmr Amy - one more item on my to do list (sorry) - purchase cake accessories Thanks!! Added!

Looks like things are coming along great for you ladies. Also, Amy I know that it is late but can my to-do's be added to the list? They are: 1. Get BM's to order dresses this week 2. Call Wilshire Bridal and make appt for BM to try on dress 3. Figure out invitation situation (I had ordered them and then got a proof and hated them, now waiting on more samples) 4. Take FI to look at wedding bands 5. Continue to research paper mache planters for wedding flowers 6. Find out from TA if I can change my silver package to the pearl package with Sky add on 7. Find out from TA about getting a family room on the 1st night 8. Start researching custom beach towels 9. Keep looking for flights 10. Register for gifts 11. Look for suit for FI and groom's party 12. Find mini frames that fit new polaroid photos for "photo booth" 13. Make sure "photo booth" stand will work 14. Get a quote on custom table sqaures made from vintage textiles I got at sample sale (yay!) 15. Get Shalen (sic) Extreme from BM I can't believe you can't access BDW from home! That's so strange! Maybe your bandwidth can't support it? I've added you to the list! Never too late Quote: Originally Posted by amandamarieb Amy F- Another ? for you... the chairs that you are using for the ceremony. FI would kill me if he knew how much I spent renting those chairs. Trying to figure it out. Don't know why I'm so obsessed with having to have them. Thanks! My original quote was $16 per chair with pad by my WC rocks and negotiated it down to $10 per chair with the chair pad. Yes, I do have to rent them twice, SO aggrivating! I became obsessed with these chairs as well and FI told me to go for it so I did! Quote: Originally Posted by amandamarieb Okay Amy, one las thing for today. I PROMISE! Di - I decided not to get a spray tan, I've been going to tanning beds for a few weeks now because I'm pasty and I'll burn in Mexico if I don't because it's SO hot down there so this is like getting a base going. I've done Mystic tan and the airbrush tan where someone sprays you by hand (done for my BD pix) and it turned out great. I don't know if it would last in Mexico though. My plan to stay extra goldeny is to buy some tanning lotion. I've tried SO many tanning lotions and my favorite non-steak, non-orange one is the Jergen's from the grocery store, no joke. It's amazing and like $8. So there's my tan plan, LOL! Diane - that's so awesome!! I'm gonna go check out your dress... -

Shannon - awwww, don't even look at the forecast! Just think positive! Another BDW friend of my lives in Bermuda and she says you can't pay attention to the weather forecast because it's tropical rain meaning it could sprinkle for 4 minutes in the morning and that's what they mean by rain... so DON'T worry, I'm just going forward in the mindset that none of us will have rain on our wedding day and everything will work out just perfect -

Welcome all you lurkers coming out of hiding! Wow, yeah I'm right there... I stopped caring about the little details and keep making lists of what I'm going to do when I get there, FI and I skipped a vacay last year in order to effectively pay for our wedding so we haven't had a real vacation for over 2 years now!
