So far we have 34 rooms booked in about 3 weeks! I think I put the fear of god into my guests that the hotel was going to sell out if they didn't. But I must say that reading through everyone's planning journals, reviews, etc has been amazing! Really helpful! I am trying to get on the planning wagon now since we are 10 months our and i still don't have a dress but I am so excited! Congrats and Very impressed with all the rooms booked, you're smart, glad they are listening to you!
  3. Thanks Linds!! Man I love that dress too, it almost made me sweat to DEATH but I kept telling myself... suck it up, it's too pretty to change out of, LOL! Welcome back Diane!!! Love your siggy picture, can't wait to see more!

You must be so excited to see wedding day ones! I know I can't wait How did he like the BD book/pictures BTW? I don't know if you've seen my link but my photog put like 30 teasers up of wedding day/TTD on his blog Azul Sensatori Wedding in Cancun with Amy and Daylen | Chris Schmitt Photography Blog

  9. Oh and Lindz regarding the BD book... my FI didn't really get it when I was telling him about it too. It doesn't matter, when he sees your hot photos, there will be ZERO confusion on the subject I was hanging out with one of FI's groomsmen and my MOH on Saturday night and he was telling me that after Daylen was delivered his book by my Matron of Honor, she took him outside on the patio to look at it, he ran back inside to the boys and say... that book is the most AMAZING thing I've ever seen and you'll never see it... but it's incredible! He said he was just glowing, I love it
  10. Meredith - Multi-quoting is easy, just click MQ on the bottom of the post instead of Quote and click MQ on all the ones you want to respond to then click quote when you're ready! Wendy - I totally thought of you when I was typing about the Mrs. Club, I was like... "I think Wendy will know what I'm talking about" haha, so nice to know I'm not the only cheesy one here LOL! Lindz - I know I already BBM'd you my love of your engagement photos but the one in your siggy makes me feel so happy and warm inside, it's so obvious you two are so in love, I love pictures like that <3
  11. Congrats Karen!!! LOVE your pictures, you look so happy I love that we have the exact same legal day dress! I am so excited for you, have an amazing wedding I'll be thinking about you! Di - I hope you have an amazing wedding and you will definitely be on my mind. Can't wait to hear all about it when you girls get back!

I found this site after searching for reviews on MR photographers and I have been lost ever since. :-) I spent hte past 2 days just trying to read this thread alone and have only gotten about 75 pages completed. I posted twice, once as the automated welcome email asked me to, and another in a 2011 Brides thread. I have not received any responses thus far, so I don't even know if I'm posting correctly on this site. :-/ Anywho, it looks like there are quite a few of you in here and if anyone who has recently married at the Azul Sensatori is game to "initiate or haze" me into what what to expect and which vendors I should be looking at closer, please feel free! I am all ears and eager to accept all advice I can get. Oh and I have to share with you all that I am trying to break the bank to get Elizabeth Medina to photograph our wedding!!! I found her site by accident and I AM IN LOVE with her work!!! If anyone has experience with her as well.....I'm ALL ears! Have a great Sunday, Ladies and I so look forward to getting to know you all! All the best! Congrats and Elizabeth Medina is amazing, I didn't use her but all the photos I see of hers are wonderful! Great choice indeed LOL, no initiations or hazing, too funny! Just hang out with us, ask questions and show us as many pictures of your planning process along the way, we all love pictures Amy
  13. Meredith - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I know it is rough, even moreso going through wedding planning I'm sure ( I know I was very emotional planning my wedding) so just know my thoughts are with you and vent to us if you need. Why don't you take over and do the to do list's for the thread if they helped, I think you'd be perfect for it Also, the best advice I ever got planning my wedding was, don't listen to anyone HAHA, catch 22 I know. I agree with Meaghan, I think it's actually rude to send invites to guests who have already told you they aren't coming. I didn't send invites to guests not coming, I plan to send them announcements when I get all my photos and I'll do like a photo announcement just letting everyone know we thought about them and they are included. Wendy - LOL! Dear husband, now that makes sense Destination husband I guess does too but it's funny the first thing your mind goes to. Amy - Holy cow girl... no words can describe how excited I am for you!!! You think you're excited now? You're in for a brand new feeling... I feel like a part of a special club and have felt something that only happy married Mrs. feel and can't wait for all the amazing bride to be's I know that are about to join <---- sooooooo cheesy! LOL! Sammyhawk - Congrats Mrs.! So glad your day was unbelievable! I thought the same thing on my wedding day, you know if it rains, it wouldn't have even mattered, I would have had a blast regardless. Besides rain on your wedding day is gooood luck!
  14. What I would do again: - Destination wedding for sure! While I planning it, I definitely was doubting this, now no doubt in the world I would do it all over again! - All my DIY projects, they were labor intensive but totally worth it. - Wedding website with lots of information - Send my DIY STD's one year in advance - Hire Chris Schmitt as my photographer... all my pictures are unbelievable. He was a lot out of my price range but I'm SO happy with my pictures I can't even explain it - Doing a BD shoot. It was so nerve wracking to take pictures in lingerie but it was so empowering and husband loved the book I had made for him so much! - Buy my wedding dress.... out of my original price range but my experience was amazing meeting my designer and the dress looked amazing. It was very HOT in humid hot Mexico but it was worth a little uncomfortable sweating to rock it all night. - Getting private dance lessons and choreographing a dance with hubby... we had SO much fun and bonded on a whole new level, he now loves to dance and I never thought that would ever happen - Buy real touch flowers... wow I saved easily $4,000 or buy going with real touch and they looked amazing, no one knew they were fake and I get to keep my bouquet forever! - My bridesmaids were so excited to keep theirs too. - Being obsessed with Etsy... I met so many amazing vendors, got some of the most unique items for my wedding and got some much custom made or personalized I'm happy with everything. - Not getting married on the sand... I got married on a Sky Deck and it was so much more comfortable with everyone. - Getting married at Azul Sensatori... despite questionable reviews on Trip Advisor when it first opened I trust my gut and went there anyways. It was absolutely perfect and gorgeous and accommodating. - Speaking of Trip Advisor... I was obsessed with it for awhile and it was really stressing me out, I decided to avoid it at all costs and move on! - Moving resorts after my wedding to Le Blanc. It is such an amazing place and helped us unwind and relax which was exactly what we needed. - Staying 5 days before the wedding and 6 days after... really felt like a getaway, lots of time with friends and family and relaxing after. - Giving OOT Bags... everyone flipped over them, used everything in them and had a blast. - Enjoyed every moment of my wedding day, paid attention, made sure my husband stayed close so we could enjoy it together all night long. - Having an after party in the pool after the wedding and then at a bar until 4:30am... had the time of our lives - Do my own makeup. I bought Bobbi Brown makeup, got a lesson and practiced. My makeup looked exactly how I wanted it and I looked like me. - Waterproof EVERYTHING! Makeup & eyelash glue, I sobbed walking down the aisle and after the ceremony my makeup had not budged, I couldn't believe it. - Write the entire ceremony ourselves and write and say our own personal vows. It was a daunting task and I don't like any sort of public speaking but we had every single person at our wedding crying and it was such a wonderful bonding moment! - Having a donkey at our cocktail reception... I was skeptical at the potential tackiness of this but figured what the hell! Everyone was in totally shocked and gave him lots of love and he was totally adorable - Keep traditions. We slept separately the night before which was difficult but the anticipation made it very exciting and even more emotional the day of. - Have my BD book delivered an hour before the ceremony by my MOH, my husband LOVED it and I had a photographer capture his reaction - Have a welcome cocktail reception the night before the wedding where my MOH gave everyone name tag stickers with titles. As lame as that sounds... everyone ended up introducing themselves to one another and by the next day everyone knew one another and it was amazing. - Have a farewell breakfast then following morning after the wedding. We were all slightly sleep deprived, slightly hungover but it was so much fun recapping and laughing together and almost everyone showed up which I couldn't believe! - Do a TTD session in another dress. I had a blast - Do zipling!!! So amazing, everyone should do this once. - Doing P90X, got me in amazing shape and I looked just how I wanted for my wedding - Decide to have my legal wedding day after the wedding in Vegas. It hasn't happened yet but everyone is so excited for my more casual Elvis Wedding and can't wait to go. What I wouldn't do again: - Use DestinationWeddings.com... Wow ok, my first TA was HORRIBLE, he screwed so much up and caused SO much frustration, I really regret not using a BDW TA. I did request a new TA from them 5 months out who fixed everything and was pretty great to work with. - Stress. Wow, I stressed a LOT, people not coming, people cancelling, no parents coming, drama etc. This was pointless. A wise bride (Nicole) told me to stop stressing, it didn't matter and my wedding would be perfect. She told me quote "you won't miss ANYONE once you're there" and she was absolutely right. All those people who didn't come or cancelled or fell out at the last minute didn't cross my mind once, I was having to good of a time to care. I wasted a lot of tears and restless nights. - Not letting people help me enough. I am a control freak and a perfectionist and couldn't people do much for me which added to the stress. - Continue to look at other options AFTER I had already paid for and decided on something, that just drives you crazy!! I hope this helps! This thread was so helpful to me while planning my wedding
  15. Wendy & Amy, you're right... I'm gonna suppress my control freak nature and show show up looking pretty and ready to party. I just got the invite in the mail today, it's so damn cute and it's a cocktail reception which is PERFECT, exactly what I would have done. AHR - At home reception reception Wendy - What's DH stand for.... something husband? Destination husband, LOL! AmyB - 54 HOURS, OMG you must be tingling with adrenaline and exhausted at the same time... that's how I felt
  16. I just returned from my wedding one week ago today. I was there for 12 days and had 7 suitcases, a laptop and a large carry on bag and my dress. I gave 2 suitcases to my bridesmaids and we took 5. I brought down OOT bags and stuff for them, paper lanterns, candles, real touch flower bouquets and centerpiece flowers, bouts & corsages. I brought down all the guest book table stuff and menu's, programs, etc. So be prepared if you plan to bring a lot down, it was fine, not too expensive and it all worked out, nothing broke, nothing lost, nothing questioned!
  17. Shannon - yep, still doing Vegas June 26th, we may end up having as many people there as we did in Mexico! Should be SUCH a blast, more casual etc. Di - Good advice... but I'm a control freak, I don't know how to let other people take care of something for me, I always butt in... but I think I'm going to bite my lip and just let it happen
  18. Ladies, I just found out my AHR (being thrown completely for me financially and all by some of my friends & MOH) is next Saturday! I'm actually completely freaked out by this... I feel like I've easily put on 10lbs during my honeymoon week... which lasted throughout this whole week as well, I'm not gonna lie For you girls doing an AHR (or already did one), any suggestions?? All I can think of now is to bring my guest books for people and maybe the wedding photo pictures of my parents and grandparents etc. It's weird being totally in the dark about everything except, where and when!
