  1. Don't feel guilty, it's your day. If people can't afford to go, then they can't make it. We decided that we were going to Jamaica for the wedding, WE decided. We invited a small group of friends to join us there, and then we're having a reception when we get home to celebrate with everyone who couldn't make it to Jamaica. So we'll have a group of 20-30 (currently 22 confirmed) in Jamaica, and then a reception for 150-200 when we get back. For us, this seemed like a good balance
  2. When we looked into booking a group rate, it always seemed that we needed to have 10 double occupancy rooms booked for the exact same stay/room level. If we wanted a group rate on air/hotel combinations, we needed to book the exact same trip for 20 people (10 rooms). This didn't work, as we have people coming in from different cities and staying for different lengths of time. Our travel agent is taking care of everyone though, and has negotiated some discounts for us in the process.
  3. As far as insurance goes, it's best to get a separate policy for your jewelry. Some homeowners insurance will cover it, with the proper rider, but others will only allow you to use their jewelers, etc. We insured our rings with Jewelers Mutual insurance, which will definitely allow us to work with the jeweler we choose if something were ever to happen.
  4. I believe that your guest could also stay at any Palace resort if you decide to stick with the Moon Palace. The only problem there, is that the Moon Palace isn't very close to the others. We were guests at a DW at the Moon Palace in Feb. 2007 and I believe that we could visit any of the other Palace resorts in Cancun/RM free of charge. I could be wrong here though, that week of life is rather foggy
  5. Thanks, we have looked at tripadvisor some, but we obviously need to dig a bit further We booked the trip, have 22 others booked right now, and are pretty much concentrating on the AHR at this point. Hopefully somebody from TA forums will respond with some first hand experience though.
  6. Thanks everybody! That seems to be the consensus, that it's small, but it's very "Jamaica". That's what we're going for, as we've been to other DWs in Mexico and Punta Cana that were at large resorts and, to be honest, they were pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, they were great... but it's time for something a little bit different
  7. Anyone else ever been there? had a wedding there? Our wedding is planned for 3/11/09 at Breezes Runaway Bay. We've read some good reviews on tripadvisor and it was suggested to us by 2 different travel agents, but as always, first hand information is appreciated
  8. Anyone get married there or have any information on the place? We've been told by two local travel agents that the place is GREAT and comes highly recommended, but if we could get some first hand testimonials that would be even better

    Hello Hello

Name - Jeff and Jill Wedding Date - Not sure, spring of 2009 Wedding Location - Not sure either We've been to two other DW's in the recent past. One was at the Moon Palace in Riviera Maya, the other at the Iberostar Bavaro in Punta Cana. Both were nice, but we would prefer to go someplace different than those two... we're thinking Jamaica, possibly. If anyone has other suggestions, feel free to let us know We're trying to keep it affordable for our guests, but at the same time it is still OUR wedding so it has to be nice!
