  1. Thanks for all the info ladies! I have convinced the FI to go with Mammee Bay and the Seagrape!! Does anyone know how flexible the limit of 50 is for Mammee Bay? If we have say 55 or 60 guests, will they allow it?
  2. Thanks for the advice! I did think about the disco, but with everyone saying it was damp and had a smell to it, I changed my mind. Plus, people can go there later if they choose to. I hate having to make these decisions so far in advance!!
  3. Initially I was leaning towards MB and then the Seagrape. I would have tables and chairs set up so people could sit if they choose. After talking it over further with my FI, he thinks it would be better to do everything at Plantation and skip the sand. I love the beach and don't mind sand... he is not so crazy about sand and neither is his family.... Not quite sure what to do! Thanks for your opinion about the food! I will definitely mention this to him and see if that sways him at all!
  4. I am thinking about the instrumental version of "Love U 4 Life" by Jodeci....
  5. Hey ROR Brides! I am trying to decide whether to do a private dinner at the plantation or the semi-private at Mammee Bay and then the Seagrape after I have read the threads describing both and have seen pics of both types of receptions. What I need to know is how do the two compare?? Is Plantation worth the money?? I really like the idea of a bonfire on the beach, but don't think it would work well for all my guests as some of them are older. Any advice/opinions are appreciated! Courtney
  6. Great idea!!! I am going to have to join the band wagon!!!
  7. Several brides have mentioned bringing a CD with the songs they wanted burned onto it. A few of them even said the WC handled that for them during the ceremony. I plan on doing the same thing.
  8. Welcome back and congrats! Can't wait to read your review!
  9. Fabulous pics!!! Your photog did an awesome job. I loved your color choices. Did you pay extra for the bonfire?
  10. Congratulations! Your pics are great! It looks like everyone had a fantastic time! Seeing your pics made me feel better about choosing to get married during hurricane season. Did the price of the chair covers just cover the white slip covers? Did you bring the bows from home to match your color theme, or did the RIU provide them?
  11. I know this is very late... how did your flowers turn out from Kreations? Would you recommend them?
  12. Good luck to all you ladies getting married within the next month!! You must be sooo excited! I feel like my day is sooo far away! Can't wait to see all of your pics and reviews!!
  13. Your pics were amazing! You two look great together! Loved the lilies! It seems like a lot of people are having issues with the rooms having twin beds pushed together! Thanks for the heads up, I will make sure my TA brings this to their attention! Thanks for sharing and congrats!

I am hoping to do the seagrape for after dinner and wanted to use my ipod.

But definately do a search on the forum and you will find all kinds of helpful information. Any other questions let me know!! Did the $15 cover the bar and the tables and chairs? So the bar is $10/person and chairs $5/person? Are they providing enough chairs for every guest?
  16. I have my TA working on it... but the Riu has not gotten back to her yet. I will also let you guys know whether or not they do it.
  17. Does the ROR offer a discount for a site visit? I know several have you have gone to check the resort out before you got married there. If so, how much of a discount?

  19. Thanks for all of the info. I was thinking about doing the disco, but know I think poolside sounds great! Has anyone done poolside with an Ipod? How was the sound? Do other people walk through that area, or is it completely private? -Courtney
  20. Thanks for sharing that info. The packages are definitely the way to go!!! You save so much money! Although, I do think the 16.5% tax is a bit much considering that doesn't even include your tip! -Courtney
  21. According to the ongoing list with all of our wedding dates, several brides were supposed to get married during the last 3 wks. I am curious to see how those made out that were there during the storms....
  22. You did a fabulous job! I hope everyone enjoys your wedding! Don't forget to share your review and pics when you get back! -Courtney
  23. I just returned from a vacation at Excellence to celebrate our engagement. We were there from 8/29-9/2. I had a fantastic time! This is one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. I felt guilty not tipping all of the wait staff b/c they were all soooo great. The food was awesome... especially the breakfast buffet at the Barcelona. Room service is included in the all-inclusive... I thought that was pretty awesome. I have never stayed at an all-inclusive that included that. The Spa was amazing. My fiance and I got a couples massage. Unlike some spas, the steam room and water therapy are a standard part of the massage. The lazy river and pools are great. We did an excursion to the Mayan ruins in Tulum. The beach at this site is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! The white powdery sand is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Courtney
