  1. I have noticed that many previous ROR brides mention that tipping helps to get better service. While I am somewhat disappointed by this, as I don't want to have my guests have to spend any extra money, realistically I do want to be prepared. I really don't want to have to use an ATM down there and be hit with the fees, so I would like to bring whatever cash I am going to need. How much money would you suggest bringing along for tips? I have read that some brides had to tip housekeeping to get their rooms cleaned well, for better reservations for dinner, for some front desk assistance, for better drinks, etc. Just wanted some feedback from previous brides or to see if future brides are planning to bring tip money as well.
  2. Thanks for sharing. Do u have any pics? Thanks for the heads up about the tips!
  3. The pics are awesome! I love how you captured the colors of the water! Thanks for sharing!
  4. I wouldn't waste the money on reminder post cards. You sent a Save the Date and you will send out an invite. Do you have a wedding website? I found this to be helpful. I put all our info on their including the travel agent's info, so when they are ready they can contact her. We purposely chose not to do group rates b/c we know our families (even though we love them) and friends can be procrastinators. You could just send out an email reminding them. I wouldn't spend anymore money considering that those that will plan late will do it regardless of how many times they are reminded. Keep in mind you still have until July. That is ALOT of time for people to book. Its their own faults if they have to pay more and don't let them make u feel bad about that!
  5. The airport is in Montego Bay, so if you stay at any of the other resorts, there is more travel involved. We chose ROR and it is about 1 1/2 hours away from the airport. This may be something you want to take into consideration.
  6. Thanks for the review. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Can't wait to see your pics! Congrats!
  7. Does anyone know if it is possible to pick the music that they put on your video? I think I read that some of the brides had cheesy music on their video.
  8. 34 people have already booked? That is great! Your guests are on the ball. Alot of my guests will be flying out of Philly. I see that is where you are from. Are most of your guests flying out of there as well? If you don't mind me asking, how much was your airfare? Did everyone get a good deal and that is why they booked so early? We chose the poolside reception after reading all of the rave reviews. Initially we were going to do the disco, but thought we should do it outside since we would be in Jamaica! At first we were going to do the seagrape, but then I read several reviews that said the mainstage was right above the seagrape and that the music was very loud. So that's how we ended up at the poolside.
  9. Thanks for the info! I will definitely check this site out and pass it along to my guests!
  10. Congratulations! Your wedding looks picture perfect! I can't believe how great ur pics are considering they were taken by your guests. They look professional! Your pro pics will be fantastic!
  11. I am using TA Maureen and she has been really helpful. Normally, she responds within hours to emails. She is only taking one week for "maternity leave" and will be working from home. She is worth it to wait until she is available next week.
  12. I also read on the website that it cannot be someone that is related to either you or your FI. I don't really understand why it can't be...
  13. Congrats! I switched to the Poolside as well after seeing everyone's photos!
  14. Thanks for sharing! I will definitely check out their website. Your table settings will be beautiful!
  15. Thank you for sharing! I love that you guys had fun with your pics and got some great candid shots! Congrats!
  16. Thank you for sharing! I love the pic of you and your hubby on the wave runner!
  17. Even though u had some bad moments, it seems like overall your wedding went great! Your pics look wonderful! Did Chandlyn ever give a reason as to why they would not reimburse you your money for the reception since they basically didn't even give u one? If I were u, I would send a letter to management about that.
  18. Your dress is beautiful! I think longer bridesmaid dresses would compliment your gown. I would go for more elegant looking BM dresses, rather than casual, party type. But I wouldn't do them with any kind of lace, so that way your dress stands out more.
  19. Congrats!!! Thank you for sharing. It looks like you had a great time. I will definitely take your advice about the OOT bags!!
  20. JenJoe08- Thanks for asking this question, I was wondering the same thing! I figured I would check out the airport gift shops as well. I know that they can be overpriced, but it is an option if you are strapped for time before your guests arrive.
  21. Was there a fee for using the credit card? When I went to Mexico, I used my credit card at the resort and was charged a fee for using it out of the country.
  22. I am glad I am not the only one that has seriously been contemplating this! My daddy only has daughters and I always said i would hyphenate when i got married to carry his last name on a little longer. My username on here is actually what my new last name would be if I hyphenate, I wanted to get used to how it would look. Lately, I have been wondering if I should just take his name to make things easier for when we have kids. They will take his last name, but mine will be hyphenated. My FI says he will support whichever I decide, hyphenating or not. I don't even know why I am stressing this when there are so many other things to worry about!
  23. Hope u are having fun at ROR! Can't wait to read your review and see your pics! Congrats!
