  1. This is not related to the question, but Alyssa, I LOVE the pic of you and your hubby! Very cute!
  2. For those past brides at ROR: I want to upgrade the flowers that the RoR offers. am I able to do this during my meeting in person with Chandlyn? Is this enough time? Or would you recommend dealing directly with them (Tai Flora) before I arrive in Jamiaca? Did anyone have issues receiving the exact flowers they wanted? I am leaning towards star gazer lillies.
  3. Dr Brainfreeze and ROR Jamaica Bride you guys could share the chair covers, since you have around the same number of guests, and each of you bring half to cut down on how much each of you has to pack. This would save you money and room in your suitcases.
  4. Ashsmith - I am getting married 2 weeks after you! From what I remember from other people's posts you can play your Ipod on a dock station during your dinner. You are sort of seperated from the other parties in the restaurant, so playing the music shouldn't be a problem. If you do a search, these posts should come up.
  5. Congrats! Thanks for your review! Can't wait to see your pics!
  6. Congrats and thanks for sharing your review! You looked lovely on your wedding day and it looked like you had perfect weather! Be sure to share the rest of your photos when you get them! Your wedding day sounds like it was so laid back and relaxed. I have my fingers crossed that mine will be the same. Congrats Mrs.!
  7. Beautiful ring! Glad it all worked out! Everything happens for a reason! If he wouldn't have broken your prong, you never would have found that band!
  8. Welcome to the forum! Unfortunately I don't know much about either of the spots you have narrowed down to. If you go under that particular link for DR or Mexico, you can just do a search under those and find more info than you ever wanted! Congrats and happy plannin!
  9. Welcome to the forum! Congrats and happy planning!
  10. Congrats and good luck with the planning! You will find sooo much info on this forum that will help you to decide where you want your wedding!
  11. Have a safe trip and a fabulous wedding! I can't wait to read your review and see your pics!
  12. Thanks Soon2BeWed09 and DivaDivine for the heads up about those websites! I will definitely be using them!
  13. It seems strange to me that places won't let you take pics of dresses before you buy them. I have been to 3 places and all of the consultants have gladly snapped shots of me in gowns that I did not buy. My sisters are out of state and I wanted to send them pics and get feedback before I buy. I am also leaning towards a Nicole Miller dress, but I found it at a bridal boutique that does their own alterations. LOVE Nicole Miller prices!!!
  14. I was wondering if anyone has received pics from Chandlyn of what the current flower options are if you choose to get flowers through her. I did a search on the forum and all of the pics posted were from '07 and '08. Most of the previous brides said that carnations were a majority of the options. Hope this has changed! If anyone has the current options, could you please post the pics? Thanks!
  15. Great!! I am not real crazy about the first menu options. It doesn't seem like there is enough variety. It is looking like our wedding will be less than 30 as well.
  16. Thanks Dr Brainfreeze! Are u going a poolside dinner/reception as well? If so, which option did you choose. Or for anyone that choose a poolside dinner, which menu option did you choose? Is it worth the extra cost pp to updrade the menu?
  17. Maureen- Thanks for the idea about the cards! For the officiant, Chandlyn, and Michael how did you base your tips? For example, restaurant tipping is customarily 15-20%, hair services are 20%, etc. Is there a rule of thumb for wedding related items? Hope that question makes sense!
  18. Thanks for asking this question. I was wondering the same thing! If u email her, please post her response. Thanks!
  19. Has anyone received a sample menu from Chandlyn for a poolside dinner/reception? If so, can you please share?

You should ask Chandlyn if the menu can be upgraded at Mammee Bay & at what cost. Although we didn't have Jamaican food at our reception, the food we had was very good. Also, we had Jamaican food throughout the time there at most of the restaurants for lunch or dinner. I do know that Marsha, aka Precise Plans, had her reception at the Plantation. I don't remember if she upgraded her menu. You may want to PM her or look for her wedding review to see if she mentioned that. Justustwo- Do u know if this additional cost is on top of the $55/pp that is already charged just for a private reception?? That is a bit steep to me! Thanks!
  21. We chose Jamaica because it is usually more affordable and we didn't want our guests to have to spend a whole lot to come to our wedding. Our family and friends are spread out across the US, so just like your's, they would have to travel for a wedding anywere. We chose the ROR based on the reviews and pics we saw here.
  22. Thanks ladies. I guess I asked this b/c last year we took a trip to an all-inclusive in Mexico. We had excellent service the entire time we were there and the people that worked there did not expect tips, in fact they weren't even supposed to take them if offered. I actually saw some politely refuse. This great experience has skewed my view of tipping. Like u said it is a double-edged sword at an all-inclusive.
