  2. We gave cigars as favors for the guys -- and EVERYONE loved it! Including the girls -- who stole some puffs :-) I just tied an organza bow around them in one of our colors (aqua) so they looked pretty, lol:-) We bought ours and brought them down, but only b/c we had heard mixed things about getting good and "genuine" cuban cigars there... but it turned out our resort had a cigar shop and cigar bar and sold the exact same kind we brought...and for not much more price-wise. Maybe check with your resort...? (The mixed things we heard were about cigars sold outside the resorts... that some claim to be real cubans but aren't...etc etc...who knows if that's true or not though :-)) Also, I guess if you're in the U.S (we're in Canada) -- you can't buy Cuban cigars there I don't think...? (if that's what you want...) So maybe it's best to buy them in Mexico if you want Cuban... Good luck!

  4. Guess I'm alone here, but I'd go for nice flip flops (like havianias), pashminas, or really nice cigars. Or, maybe spend the money on a caricaturist and that way they'll have a funny pic to take home? Or maybe spend it on an "experience" for them, like paying for a snorkelling trip, or an excursion to the ruins...? Good luck! (either way, your guests will be lucky:-))
  5. Oh, and buy extra everything! You'll more than likely screw a few up, so it's nice to have extra paper on hand :-) I don't know how many times I went back to the paper store near my house... and every time I thought, for sure, THIS time, I have enough, lol:-)
  6. I'm not sure about how to make sure everything's straight, but I do recommend you buy double-sided tape! That stuff is the BOMB for making your DIY invites etc look very professional... and no mess to clean up:-) You should be able to get it at any crafts/art supply type store... Good luck!
  7. I think if you can afford it, you should have speakers and a mic... It would kind of suck if your guests couldn't hear anything you guys were saying:-) (especially if you wrote your own vows...)... We had a speaker and a mic (got married on the beach) and they were DEFINITELY needed...between the wind and the waves, no one would have heard anything :-) Good luck!
  8. Hey ladies! Just checking in to see if anyone has designed and/or orderd their DIY flushmount from Black River Imaging or any other company..?? Would love to hear a review/feedback! Also, found this other company that does them...couldn't find any reviews...I think maybe they are new-ish... But I think they're based in Montreal, so may be easier for the Canadian girls? :-) Here's the link in case anyone's interested or has a review of their services... DreamStudio flush mount albums, coffee table digital albums. photo albums, photo books, magazine photo albums, professional photographer album Cheers!
  9. Are you talking about that GORGEOUS Nicole Miller dress you have!! Keep it girl...you're gonna look smokin' in it and I highly doubt anyone but you (and maybe the WC :-)) will know someone else at your resort wore the same dress... Plus, as the others said, you'll make it your own:-)
  10. We had NO speeches at our reception! My husband spoke and I spoke...but that was it :-) Both of us had been to weddings where some drunk relative had made either a very long and boring and/or inappropriate speech...so we nipped the potential problem in the bud :-) But yes, I think it depends on your crowd...there were a few people at our reception we were concerned about... (and not just about fun, drunken speeches...we saw the potential for making people feel uncomfortable...Uugh:-)) Plus, my best friend said she gets nervous speaking in public and would prefer not to.... It's just what worked for us:-) DH's dad made a speech at a dinner the next night :-)
  11. I think they just went on sale, so there seems to be a lot of sizes left...they're super nice and come in black and white (wish they'd had this deal before I got married, lol:-) Anyway, in case anyone's interested...here's the link... http://www.stevemadden.com/item.aspx...mens%20sale%7C If it doesn't work, just go to stevemadden.com and search for the flip flops...their style name on the site is: GLAMMM good luck!:-)

Have you tried: Once Wed | Wedding Ideas, Used Wedding Dresses, and Wedding Blog It's free to list...that's where I sold the first dress I bought...(Yep...I was a two-dress bride :-)) And here's where I sold the one I actually wore... 15. If you use the search button on the top right of this page and search "Juan Navarro", you should be able to come up with LOTS of info from brides who have used him... 17. BTW, if you're open to having a band that's NOT a mariachi band, we had a GREAT one play for us during our ceremony and our cocktail reception. Sol Tamargo (of Del Sol photography) used them for her wedding too! I'm not sure if they have a name, but it's a husband and wife plus I think two more members... The wife is named Jill Kirkland and she I think is American (so speaks English) and is easy to communicate with. I spoke to her once on cell but mostly communicated via e-mail. They can play pretty much anything, but they're NOT acoustic (i.e. they have amps etc to plug in). Honestly -- they were the HIT of our cocktail hour!:-) I think we paid $500 for two sets (45 mins each) plus a travel fee. (maybe $50?) She can be reached at: [email protected] If you DO want to contact her and have trouble reaching her through that e-mail, let me know...I'll dig up her cell number for you! :-) Whoo-hoo! Just found it: home: (984) 803-0308 cell is (984) 119-3622

She SO needed one... many previuos SMB brides (myself included:-)) lamented the fact that Cecilia was on her own and just didn't seem able to get to all the details she should... So yay for future SMB brides! Sounds like you'll be better taken care of :-)
