We just got back from the Blau Varadero which is in Varadero (obviously). Check my review in the Cuba section, as I included some pictures. It was a 4 star resort, and we went for $1587 including taxes (each), and the wedding was $350. It was awesome and I totally reccomend it. The food in Cuba is a concern, but only if your really picky. There were 25 of us, and I'd say 20 of us were happy with the food. The other 5 were picky with everything. Just have to understand that its a different country, and they aren't going to have Alberta AAA Beef! Although I must say I loved the beef, its from Argentine.... Anyways...no the food is fine as long as you have an open mind. We sure didn't starve!

The beach should be okay to get married on, you just have to realize that people aren't very respectful and will walk right threw! They can't just reserve part of the baech, as it is public. That's the case on all beaches. I never saw that restaurant on teh beach..hmm...it must be very new or its just part of the beach bar. And yes, you can pick basically any kind of flower. They have tons to choose from. If you need anything just let me know!

Is your marriage in Cuba legal In Canada?
alishadawn20 replied to jackobelle's topic in Cuba Weddings
Your marriage is legal in Canada. All you have to do is wait for your marriage certificate to come (they have to register it in an international database so this takes awial....5 months about). When you sign papers int he ceremony in Cuba, there just isn't one - there are several. I swear my hand started cramping. But its so that its legal anywhere. Once your marriage certificate comes, most places will accept it. And if they dont, its only becasue its in Spanish so you simply have to get it translated. Mine was accepted everywhere, including the banks. You'll just have to keep your maiden name for awial until you get your certificate. -
Hello! My wedding at the Blau was December 12th and it was AMAZING!!!!!! I could not have asked for more. You ladies that are getting marrried there, or Cuba in general are going to have the time of your lives! I am happier then ever that we decided to do a destination wedding - they are totally the way to go! When we first got there, the wedding coordinator sat down with us for a quick half hour meeting and I picked out my flowers, location, etc. I also made my hair appointment and double checked she had a photographer. The wedding took place at 2:00 pm, I had thought having a hair appointment at 12:00 would leave enough time in between, but it was cutting it close. I was literally running down the aisle! So that would be my only recomendation...make sure you leave enough time! The hairstylist is amazing! It is a man, and he did a wonderful job - he's just a tad slow. The ceremony itself was awesome, we didn't do it on the beach becasue it was really busy that day and you can't have chairs on the beach ( we had some elderly guests). We had a hard enough time trying to keep people out of our pictures when we went down there for pictures! As far as flowers, my boquet and my husbands "thingy" were provided and you can get any kind of flowers you want (basically...). If you have a flower girl, for no extra charge she can get you some petals too. Which brings me to the photographer - he was great! For $150 we couldn't go wrong! I'll attatch some links for y'all to check out so you get an idea. Supper was great, cake was great (we brought a cake topper), the whole day was just great!!!! If you have any specific questions I'd be more than happy to help you!! I'm excited for those who are getting married there, and wish It was me!! We will definently be going back in the near future. Canadians Getting Married in Cuba - Important!!!
alishadawn20 replied to Martee's topic in Cuba Weddings
Sorry, I was just about to say something, then I double checked myself and I was wrong. You DO need a divorce certificate legalized and translated, AND, also an affidavit of single status to prove that you havent been married since your divorce. This needs to be translated and legalized too. E-mail the consulate they can tell you everything! Sorry for misleading you, I was under the wrong impression! Good thing I double checked. -

Yah I guess ours only took so long because we had hassle trying to get the divorce certificate from our lazy lawyer. -
Canadians Getting Married in Cuba - Important!!!

Hey I've done this. My fiance has been married before so we have had to work with the Consulate to get all the papers in order. If anyone needs to do this, my advice is to do it ASAP. So far for us it has been a 5 month process and we're still waiting on a couple things. It's a definite pain in the @$$. But it'llbe worth it For us we saved so much money deciding to ge married in Cuba as opposed to having a big at home wedding, that spending the money to get the documents in order wasnt the hugest deal. Oh and if you've been divorced for more than 2 years, you don't need the documents. We found that out too late. We're going in December, and for my fiance its been 2 years in January! If we would have known we would have waited another month! If anyone has any questions I can try to help. -
wow lots of money out there. Was it so expensive because you did everything on your own, or is that how much a package was? In Cuba i'm only spending MAYBE $1000 including the meal, ceremony, paper work, photographer, cake, decorations, etc. And will spend an extra couple to make it personal. Our trip is only $1500 becaue one of us get to go free since we have 25 people coming. We'll probably come in all together under $5000 by the time we pay for some small things.
