  1. Thanks for the feedback! I love my dress too!!! Swoon..... I do love that orange twist dress - gorgeous! I'm still waiting to hear back from my last BM, but the other 2 are split (but of course, have agreed to wear whatever I decide.) It'll be a tough decision, since I am trying to keep the whole affair casual and laid-back. (Aren't we all?) I was concerned at first about my dress being too formal, but the FMIL cried when I walked out of the room and my mother and I love it, so we're working with it. The FI will be wearing a tan linen suit with a white button-down linen shirt, no tie. Also, 2 of the BMs aren't exactly financially set, so I'm trying to keep dress costs for them down since they're already paying for the plane tix. Maybe some dressy accessories..... Have a great weekend ladies!
  2. Okay, I've posted my dress pics on my wedding website since I can't access anything else at work. It will only be up there temporarily, as I don't want the FI to see the pics. Ben & Rachel - wedding website by mywedding.com (There are 3 pics in the folder)
  3. Hi everyone! I have been going back and forth on the bridesmaid dresses, and I think I've got it to this choice - I think I just need more affirmation. What do you think of this dress? I love the print because it's different and seems reggae-ish somehow, all of my wedding colors are included in the dress, and there are pockets (pockets!), but I'm concerned that it might not be bridesmaid-sy enough. I've got a pretty formal dress. Also, the GMs are all in white/tan striped tunic shirts. Speechless Strapless Tropical Bubble Dress
  4. Good Morning Everyone! I must say, I've never had such an avid interest in the Caribbean hurricane season before. At first it looked like it was going to totally miss Jamaica, but has now swung back down to ride right over the island. Thankfully it's only a category one, but here's to hoping all of our wedding venues and the Jamaican people are safe and sound!
  5. Congratulations! Stacey will be photographing my wedding as well, and I am just as pleased with her portfolio. So exciting!
  6. You can find some super-cute veils and hair pins on Etsy :: Your place to buy and sell all things handmade. My favorite designer is qgdesigns - awesome!
  7. I am using Stacey Clarke Photography for my wedding in Negril. Here is her website/blog. Negril Jamaica Photography, Stacey Clarke Photography It seems that she spent some time with Island Multimedia Solutions before she branched out on her own. Very reasonable prices. We chose: Package #3 Up To 5 Hours On Location Photography, All Images High Resolution Edited On a Copyright CD and Delivery Photo Slideshow $1475us I'm not sure how to post the actual price list, but I can send more info if you're interested.
  8. I (almost) completely feel your pain. However, if my man forgot our plans on our birthday, he would be feeling some serious pain for at least the following month. However, I have heard the "You didn't remind me" excuse several times already in the wedding planning. My solution? iGoogle. iGoogle has a calendar where you can make appointments on your calendar and on his, and you can view each others' calendars. There is also a Shared Documents section where you can keep planning stuff together, and keep the updates current without emailing new versions back and forth. Very helpful, and highly recommended.
  9. Here's mine: Me: Babe, we need to check out some china patterns since the families are pressuring us to register. FI: What is china? Me: Really, just a loose term for dishes. FI: Do we have to have dishes from China? Can't we get some here in America?
  10. I'm having trouble with this issue too. We are having our DW in April 2009, but the groom's brother is getting married this December. His aunts are throwing a huge shower for both couples, and I don't even know half of the people on the guest list, let alone inviting them to my wedding. We are definitely having an AHR, but I still feel like we're doing a gift grab. It all makes me very uncomfortable.
  11. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!
  12. Hello Everyone! My name is Rachel and I am getting married April 18, 2009. (I almost feel like I'm introducing myself at an AA meeting or something) We decided on Jamaica right away, and picked Negril as the area that sounded most like our ideal destination. We will be staying at the Negril Escape Resort and Spa with 40-50 family and friends. Our travel agent is Debbie Chapman out of Indianapolis. Our photographer is Stacey Clarke (Stacey Clarke Photography) based out of Negril. We have reserved the penthouse apartment at the Blue Cave Castle for 4 nights, and 2 nights at Taino Cove on Treasure Beach for our honeymoon. I found this forum when I was searching for things for our OOT bags. This is an awesome resource! I'm sure I will be trolling the boards for the next 8 months, picking your brains and searching for advice and tips. Thank you all in advance!
