    I spend about $50 usually. If it is a close friend or family member I will spend $100 or a little more-because in that case I am hosting a shower, buying a dress, etc. and all of that can get costly!

    We chose RIU Palace Riviera Maya for the reasons below: 1. Newer resort-built in '06 2. My FI always stays at RIU's and loves them 3. I love the wedding gazebo! 4. They can accomodate over 50 guests 5. RIU allows children-even though we won't have that many 6. I have been to Playa del Carmen before and it's gorgeous 7. RPRM is very close to downtown Playa del Carmen 8. The two story suite we booked is awesome! 9. The wedding coordinators are very quick to respond 10. I know I will get great service

    I will probably get married before my DW because we are having a big AHR 2 weeks after our DW and I know I won't have time to get married at the courthouse in that 2 week span.

    I love it and I'm not a gold person either. I also like your everday dinnerware pick! I think that more people will buy it for you than you think. I had a good friend pick expensive china and lots of people bought it for her...some people even went in together to buy her a place setting. If not, do they offer a certain percentage off anything not bought on your registry? Y'all could just take advantage of that if they offer it. Good choice though!

    Yeah, I agree with the girls above. The only way to really end it is to stop talking. I would not go to the wedding if you want to break up the friendship. I have had to do that to friends. I don't blame you for not wanting to get stood up all the time, etc. Good luck girl

    My FI parents are covering my FI and I's trip and hotel stay-about $6,000. My parents are paying for everything else...the wedding in Mexico, photographer, dress, AHR, decor, cakes, etc. My FI parents did say they would buy an ice sculpture for the AHR. They are really helpful and don't mind. I think in your case it would be nice if your FI parents at least chipped in for the AHR!
