Hi Samantha It IS a bit of a pain to get all of the documents in order in order to have a legal ceremony in Los Cabos. I am in the middle of trying to organize exactly what documents are required and it can be a little overwhelming! THAT BEING SAID, we have discussed the alternative, and both of us agree that we want our ceremony in Mexico to actually be the moment we become married. We want that exciting, giddy feeling of ACTUALLY being pronounced husband and wife right there in that moment. Something just doesn't sit right with me of going there already married- which date would we celebrate our anniversary on? lol Also, I want my family and friends that are paying a lot of money to come see us get married, actually see us get married!! Those are the main reasons why we are just dealing with the hassle of the document crap in order to have a legal marriage.

I'm wearing spanx to suck in my empty baby belly lol. I'm definitely not adding on another layer with that!

Hello! I'm attending a destination wedding myself in 3 weeks and I'm not sure on proper etiquette here. I attended the brides shower and got her a nice gift...does that mean I'm covered or is it proper proticol to also gift her a wedding gift?

Ok, so, we get the money order and send the birth certificates to Ottawa....did you put in a cover letter or something asking them to be authenticated? and they send it back to you on their own or did you need to put in a returned stamped envelope? Sorry, I'm the kind of person who wants to know EXACTLY what to do so nothing gets missed! What a pain in the butt! lol

Abby- are you sure it needs to be sent to the Mexican consulate? I know you got the info from your TA but different resorts require different things. Erika is slow to resond to my email this time and I'm getting all stressed lol. Did she ask all of this from you as well? I just don't want to do anything that I don't have to....that may sound lazy but I prefer the term "cheap" lol

I also want to add that I'm trying to communicate with the WC about this but I haven't heard anything back yet. I would also love to hear the process that previous brides took for Riu Santa Fe!

Thanks, I saw that on the site but I have no idea what apostilled means...is it the same as notarized? Also, in the "legal requirements for mexico" thread int he other section, a poster says something about having to send it away to the Mexican embassy to have it authorized or something like that. Does that not apply here? Because we found a translating service and we already have a lawyer that can sign off on it...is that all we need then?

Hi ladies! We are having a civil ceremony at Riu Santa Fe and I know that we need to have our birth certificates translated and notarized in order to be legally married. My question is: which form of birth certificate do we need translated? the long form or the short form? OMG I just read the Mexican requirements thread in another section and it confused me so much!!! For Riu Santa Fe, what steps exactly did you need to take as far as legal requirement documentation. THANK YOU!!!!

I want to start by saying that I don't even want a bridal shower! lol...I don't like being the centre of attention and I especially don't like opening gifts in front of people. So, of course...just because it's me...I'm suddenly having 3 SHOWERS THROWN FOR ME!!!! Ack!!!!! A little more information: We are having our ceremony in Mexico and a huge (250 ) AHR when we return. Here's the dilemma: One of the ladies that is throwing a shower for me isn't even on the invite list. Her Mom and Dad are but she wasn't (she didn't invite me to hers either). No problem, we'll add her to it since she's being gracious enough to want to host a shower for me. Well, she emailed me the other day with a list of everyone that she wants to invite...I know everyone on the list (all friends of the family..mostly of my parents) and more than half of them are unfortunately not on the invite list for either celebration. We can not extend invitations to all of these people as well as we are at room capacity for our AHR. I talked to my Mom and told her that I felt weird about being the centre of attention at a shower where so many people weren't even invited. Her response? "Who cares? It doesn't matter here in Lambeth (our close nit hockey community) and I know they won't feel offended, they will want to celebrate your wedding and will be happy for an excuse to all get together" I know this is true but I'm still iffy about it!!! What do you think? Is it ok to have a shower where some of the guests aren't invited to the wedding? Has anyone "been there done that" before and everything turned out ok?

I will be getting my wildly crazy tight curls relaxed and eye lash extensions I will also be getting tooth whitener but just like crest whitestrips or something like that.
