  1. Amy- I think you're out of luck when it comes to outsdie vendors, I'm sorry to say. If you have a few minutes check out my thread about the problems we had: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t38037 Basically they changed the policy this year to not allow and almost did not let me bring mine on for this Sept even though they had said that I could in Sept of last year. I ended up having to email her manager and corporate before she would budge on anything. Our situation is different from yours since they had to honour our previous agreement that was in writing but even then it was very difficult. I hope they change their policy but I think you're outta luck when it comes to that Sucks I know.
  2. Since we have settled our issue with Riu Santa Fe, we are continuing on our planning with them. Anywho, I was wondering how long the reception dinner took? We have the Steak House Terrace reserved for 6pm. How long were you and your guests at dinner? (I'm wondering for phtoographer reasons)

  5. Thanks Ladies!!! After coming to a fair agreement with Riu , at this point we are going to continue on our wedding at Riu Santa Fe, although this thread will be a great resource to newbies! Thanks so much!

  8. Well, it's settled. We stood our ground. Contacted Erika's manager and then went to corporate. When we gave them the names of two other couples who have been allowed to bring Cabo Vendors for their weddings there in Jan and Feb of this year, I think it was the straw that broke the camel's back. Erika emailed me back that after reviewing our situation with the manager they decided to me an exception for us only this once and let in our photographer/videographer. I'm still on the wary side because I felt this situation was handled terribly but I'm just happy that we got what we wanted and FOUGHT for! woohoo!!!!!!

  10. Red- our guests (and us) are paying $1648 for a week's stay including departure from Toronto.
  11. UPDATE: I contacted our photographer letting him in on the situation and he responded that he doesn't underwstand as he has shot TWO weddings (one in Jan and one in Feb) of this year. So why the eff are we being treated unfairly?
  12. OMG HpyBride...I'm so sorry that you are going through this too. Have you paid any deposits towards your other vendors that you are going to lose out on? 6 weeks!!!! I can feel how frustrated you must be with this. Good luck, and please keep me updated!

BridetoBe: I have no idea...I suppose if he showed up as my guest then there would be nothing she could do but what if she prohibits him from setting up his equipment or something else ridiculous like that? Plus, she already knows his name from way back in Sept when I first booked him and cleared it with her so if he needs to show ID or anything then we're screwed. Maybe I should ask him what he thinks of this situation?
  14. I know I can be risky and try to pass them as a guest. However, based on this horrible situation I'm terrified that when the day comes they will not let him to set up and I will have no photographer/videographer for my wedding. We are not going to let them do this. If they do not allow us to bring our photographer as they originally agreed or do not refund us the $200 deposit then we will take our business elsewhere.
  15. Thanks for your input Mango, although we intend to maintain our stay at Riu Santa Fe, we are definitely looking at other wedding ceremony options outside of the resort. This all just sucks because I've heard great stories of other brides who have gotten married there with no problems and basically I'm screaming "WHY ME?!?!?" But there is no way in hell they can get away with this and still get our wedding business. I will let you all know what the manager says when he or she replies. Thanks for being behind me on this!
  16. I can't even believe this is happening. But after speaking with Erika on the phone last night, we are unsure if we want to proceed with having the wedding right at the Riu Santa Fe. We still intend on staying there but after that whole upset with her, neither my FI or I feel comfortable with our wedding in her hands. This is so upsetting!!! So we've begun to explore other possibilities for our ceremony and reception. Does anyone have any recomendations? Especially those that are reasonably priced? Thank you

  18. Kelly, exactly. And that's exactly what I put in the LONG email I just sent to the General Manager. Erika said that the manager won't be back to work until March 7th so I might have to wait until then but I wanted him or her to hear it from me!
  19. I called. She is non-sympathetic and bascially said that rules are rules. She didn't apologize once and seems intent on not budging. I have NEVER seen this side of her before and frankly it's making me cry wondering what else is going to get screwed up. I didn't give in though and told her that she has put us into a very uncomfortable situation and she said that she will speak with her manager but that she can not make any promises. She said that he is out of town until March 7 and then she will contact me after that. She also said that the rules were changed because one bride refused to pay the day pass and so that was the end of it. I'm soooooo upset and stresed right now and I didn't feel listened to at all (not to mention the fact that she kept interrupting me and when I asked her "can you understand why we're upset?" she didn't even answer me). I'm thinking that I should email the general manager myself to make sure that he gets the message from my mouth, you know? ugh. What the eff do I do
  20. Her response again...sounds like she's set on not honouring it. Dear Lisa, Unfortunately as I have explain you we are not allow to have external supplier this just star and I was just inform for this by January, must of the photographer that work in Cabo knows about this situation. You can find this information in our web site and in the attach. Time for me to make a phone call!!!

So my dress came in while I was on vacation so my sis and I went today to "inspect" the dress (make sure it was the right dress, colour, veil, etc) and they had me try it on to make sure the size came in right. It's sooooooo beautiful on. The top of the dress was wayyyyyy too big..as in I had to hold the bust to me but that doesn't matter at this point. They want me to come back in 6 weeks before the wedding to be measured for alterations and I will hopefully be around 15 lbs lighter so major alts will be done. Here are some pics! Veil detailing FYI: The gloves are to keep the dress clean!!! not part of the outfit! lol!
