  1. Us too! I believe the balance comes straight off the credit card that you paid with 15 days before the wedding day. I like it too so we can just be in and out without having to worry about $$$ amounts! The only person we are paying for that day is my daughter. She said that with young children she doesn't like to take a deposit because sometimes chidren do not cooperate and so she said that she would just book her appointment and play it by ear since she's only 4
  2. Does anyone else find shopping for the groom/GM's attire wayyyy more difficult than bridesmaids/yourself? This is so frustrating to me! We don't want to order anything online because FI's build is one where he actually needs to try things on (short with muscular build) because most shirts are way too long for him. We are finding that this really cuts down the options!
  3. We are, but our AHR will be a formal reception, this is what we're doing (there will be approx 200 guests, but we're going to do the wine stoppers 1 per couple): and for all the kids, filled with jelly beans: These are from Wedding Favours Canada-Wedding Party Gifts-Bridal Shower Gifts-Weddingfavours.ca If we were having an informal AHR then I don't think i'd bother with favours! One less hassle, ya know?
  4. Yummy thread! We're going for simplicity...here are some of our inspirations: and our topper:
  5. Jessica, so beautiful!!!! I loved your hair and dress and everything!!!!
  6. Isn't that annoying Totally off topic but I ordered some clothes for my daughter through gymboree.com and ended up paying more in duty than i did for the actual order! ugh!!
  7. Jessica, CONGRATS!!!!!!! Be sure to let us know when you have your review up!! I can't wait to see! Here is a question for all former Riu Santa Fe brides: I read up on the Cabo document requirements for if you want to get married, this is what I found if anyone else is interested: Cabos 1. Birth Certificate* 2. Passport (for the couple) 3. Divorce Decree (People divorced with less than a year cannot get legally married)* 4. Death Certificate of previous partner (if applicable) 5. Tourist Card (provided in the Airport at your arrival to Mexico) 6. Blood test (They will be done at the resort, once you are in the hotel) 7. Passport or ID of your witnesses (Required 4 & they must be at least 18 years old) 8. Written parental consents for couples under 18 years (if applicable) 9. Legal Information Form (the on-site wedding coordinator will send it to you) *Apostilled and translated into Spanish So, my question is, did riu santa fe require that the birth certificates be translated and apostilled? Where did you go for these services and about how much did it cost?
  8. Our wedding is at Riu Santa Fe and when we sent out the information for our guests we just didn't send out any other info on other resorts. We gave them our wedding date and travel dates and the quote for the stay and then gave them our travel agent's info. Honestly, no one even brought up the subject of staying at another resort and wanted to be altogether anyways!
  9. That is some TTD!!!! wow!!!!! totally gorgeous and will be STUNNING in your pics!
  10. We're having a buffet at a reception hall. Our choices are: Roast beef and roasted chicken, roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes, ceasar salad and pasta salad, steamed carrots and grilled asparagus and a dessert table (mostly different kinds of pie) and then a chocolate fountain later on in the night. The kiddies get chicken fingers and french fries
  11. I'm shocked at my number too!!! lol I am sooooo not a fancy formal reception type girl but if it's important to my FI and his family then so be it. I know it will be a fantastic night and it will be awesome having everyone we love around us to celebrate our marriage. I just cringe at the number though because I could knock a huge chunk off my student loan with that!!! aaaahhhhh!!!
  12. Are you going to have a wedding cake there? They could also help you cut the cake. Another idea just came to mind too where you could have a small photoshoot with you wearing your wedding gown (even just somewhere like Sears!) and veil and they could be all dressed up in flower girl and ring bearer attire. They would be realllllly cute photos and a keepsake for them and you. You could include the pics in a slideshow at the AHR!
  13. They could do a sand ceremony with you! I've heard of couples saving the sand ceremony for their AHR so that others who could not attend can witness some kind of ceremony between the two of you. You could have each one of them have a colour and you could help them with the pouring. Another idea is to have them dress as Flower Girl and Ring Bearer and have them lead you into your party (if it's going to be at a hall or something) as the "grand entrance". Hmmmm...Let me think more on it!
  14. Ugh, I wish!!! I didn't even really want an AHR but FI reallllly did and so did his family. Fine! Great! It will be a great time. Cost? About $15 000. No joke. That being said it is like a formal wedding reception with open bar, buffet, DJ, slideshow, chocolate fountain, decor....the whole deal. LUCKILY, FI's parents are footing most of the bill.
  15. Hi Ashley! No we actually haven't received it yet. I told her to take her time since our wedding is not until Sept and when I contacted her to check on it's progress she said that it's all done except she was having difficulty finding the perfect colour pink gerber daisy and since there is still lots of time she is going to keep looking for it because she didn't want to settle. I love that, because her work matters to her. As for lining, I don't think there is any. The tulle she uses is a softer variety and my daughter has never had that "itchiness factor" with tulle even though she has sensitive skin- she has lots of handmade tutus! I plan to have a cute sundress on standby for after the ceremony if she wants to change. Anyways, here is the link to the seller! Etsy :: tiarastutus :: Creating unique gifts for your little princess!
  16. Here is mine! Gardenia's are my fave flower I bought it from this Etsy Seller: Etsy :: SmittenXOXO :: Dos Gardenias Para Ti and here is a pic: She said she shipped it out a couple days ago and since we're in Canada it will probably take 2-3 weeks to get here but I'm so excited to see it!!!
  17. Yes, that was my horrific experience. Basically back in Sept they told me that I could bring one but then a few weeks ago suddenly changed their minds saying that the new 2009 policy was not allowing ANY outside vendors. We had already paid a non-refundable deposit and they basically told us "too bad, so sad". After emailing corporate and the hotel manager they finally agreed to let us bring ours as an exception since they agreed that they had to honour our original agreement. So, I'm thinking that they took the photography right out of the packages because maybe you have to just deal directly with the Riu Photographer for all of your photography needs. Perhaps they are just "extras" now.
  18. Hi and congrats!!! That's strange that they are not offering photography in their packages anymore! And the other thing is that they are no longer allowing outside vendors (started this year) so that means that you can't bring in a photographer. Boo! I would contact the wedding coordinator at Riu Palace and have them send you a link to their photographer's work. As for hair, I too had heard mixed reviews and it freaked me out so I just booked Suzanna Morel to do my hair. I have NEVER heard a bad thing about her! She is a little on the pricey side but to me it's worth it to have my hair looking exactly how I want it to look for my wedding day. She is wonderful to work with as well...very prompt with emails and was awesome to talk to on the phone. It's very close to the Riu's as well, she said that she could see it from her window Here is the link to her salon: Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care
  19. I love your favourite the best as well! It totally suits your figure and it's a gorgeous dress!
