  1. No, there was no additional charge for the welcome dinner. Although, they did say it was not something they usually do. Be firm and persistent when you are asking, and tell them you are bringing 70+ people to the resort. You are really not getting anything above and beyond they are just letting you all eat in the same place. The only stipulation was that it had to be a set menu with 2 choices (we got a chicken and a shrimp). We took up the entire poseidon cove which was nice!! I would definitely request this. Our guests had a really great time mingling with each other, then we all went upstairs (from the blue lagoon) to the lounge where there was a live band and danced all night!
  2. Hello, I haven't been on here in a while, but just saw a lot of people asking questions so I thought I'd respond. First off, everything at the GP is absolutely wonderful! We had a group of 70 people with us in July and they are still raving about the place, food, and service. They allowed me to do a Welcome dinner at the Poseidon Cove the night before the wedding. The poseidon cove is beautiful, we got great pictures on the water and there is a bar in the restaurant which everyone enjoyed. I've heard that if the Blue Lagoon is booked, then they will make an exception and let you have music there. One of the best things we did was make up our own playlists and gave it to the WC a couple weeks before. She gave it to the DJ so he played all of the songs I wanted! I choose to do the wedding on the beach, which was absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for an alternate restaurant to the Poseidon, I would recommend the Pastafarian restaurant. It is on the lower level of the "clover leaf" right next to the Blue Lagoon and overlooking the pool. They will not do a private dinner there, but will have a wedding party with the other guests. I thought their food was the best out of any of the a la cartes! Bubba's is an indoor restaurant, they do have a smaller room off to the side that you can request, but this would prob only fit about 15 people. They arranged that for us our first night when we only had a few guests! Lastly, be persistent with this resort. They are wonderful, but will often tell you "no" the first time. Keep all of your emails and bring them with you when you go to the resort. ** if you are looking for a good photographer, Stacey Clarke was amazing! If you wish, you can check out my pictures on Facebook if you add me as a friend. Jaclyn Ross- Phillips.
  3. Hi Girls, I just got my slideshow back from Stacey Clarke. My wedding was held at the GP in July, everything was absolutely amazing. I had my wedding on the beach and reception at the Blue Lagoon. It couldn't have been better!! Keith & Jackie
  4. JennyLynn...any luck with you pictures? Still haven't gotten mine! Just wrote a "stern" email!
  5. Hi Jenny, I really want my pictures! I had to email her over 5 times just to get her to email me our "thank you" picture for our thank you cards, so I'm not holding my breath that these will be here soon!
  6. Jenny - Did you get your pictures back yet from Stacey Clarke?? I was just wondering b/c I haven't received anything. Thanks! Jackie
  7. Hey, Can anyone give me some insight on the DJ. The only part of my reception I'm having trouble with is the music. I want to know what type of music they play and if I give them a song list will they have most of it?? We have about 70 people coming (all big partyers) and I want to have them up and moving the entire time! I heard the DJ doesn't play during dinner, is this true?? Thanks for your help! Thanks, Jackie
  8. Ok, I was nervous when I wasn't hearing back from Jascynthia...Now I am in full Freak Out Mode!
  9. Imdels - Do you know what the phone # is that you reached her at?? I have a few questions that I would like to ask, but haven't been too successful with email. Thanks!!
  10. Hi Everyone, I am about 2 months away from my wedding right now, and communication with Jascynthia seems to be nonexistent. I've wrote 3 emails with no response. My major concern right now is regarding the music aspect for my reception. I have 80 people coming and we are renting out the Blue Lagoon. I want to do the DJ, but my fear is that they won't have the music I want. I want to hear your "typical" wedding songs (examples: Brown Eyed Girl, Sweet Caroline, Build me up Buttercup, Jimmy Buffett, Garth Brooks, Journey, etc.) Does anyone have any insight if the DJ plays this type of music, or is it more Jamaican type music? If I don't go with the DJ, and decide to go with the ipod, I have to start working on it pretty fast in order to have it ready on time. Thanks for you help!
  11. Thanks for the input!! I wasn't sure what to expect as I have never booked such a large party before. I think I am going to call my travel agent today. I'm not sure if she booked us as a group or as individuals.
  12. Hi, I am booking a destination wedding for Jamaica in July 2009. I went through a travel agent and had all of my guests book through the same agent. We are now up to 75 guests with deposits paid!! I am wondering if we should get some sort of perks for our trip, being that we are booking sooo many people through her. (I am just remembering back to spring break when 1 person would get a free trip if they booked ten other people). Our travel agent is booking all of our trips through apple vacation. * I am just wondering about this, as I am not familiar with the travel industry, but my mom keeps getting on me that we should be receiving some sort of perks! Please let me know what you think!!
  13. Thanks so much! That makes me feel alot better!! Everyone who goes there loves it, so hopefully everything will work out great! Can you please email me the pics: [email protected] Thanks Again, Jackie
  14. Hello, Thanks for the great review!! I was wondering if you could email me your pics of the Blue lagoon and ceremony site. I'm so glad we can just pay for the tropical package and pay $30 pp. Were the chair covers included in that price? How was the DJ? Did he play good oldies that you can dance to? Could you make up a list of songs for him? I'm still debating on the dj vs. ipod with speaker set up. One more question...Did you happen to see the set up at the gazebo location? I am nervous that it will be too tight for all my guests (75 people). What do you think? Thanks! Jackie [email protected]
  15. Hi, I am getting married at the Grand Palladium on July 10. Could you possibly take pictures of the Blue Lagoon and Wedding gazebo. Can you also see how many people you think could fit at the gazebo location. I have 75 people coming and from Caroline's pictures it looks a little tight up there. Good Luck!! Jackie
