  1. A $4000 budget for elopement is plenty.. if you are looking more center-strip then consider Planet Hollywood or (less expensive) Imperial Palace. Both are sufficient and not horribly expensive. A word of advice - unless you want to drop half your budget on photography, then do NOT use ANY of the chapels or casino chapels. Most casino chapels you'll pay $1000+ just for the disc of images. Expecially stay away from any chapel that uses Cashman, as they are difficult to work with, hard-sell, and way overpriced. Have you considered an off-strip ceremony -maybe up on Mt. Charleston or at a nice local park? Many vendors can package officiate, transportation, photography, etc. for a reasonable price -probably less than just the purchase of your photos. We're doing a wedding for a couple in October at the top of Mt. Charleston, the location overlooks the back-side of the mountain with greenery for a mile or so, then beautiful reddish desert and mountains as far as the eye can see. At sunset, the mountains in the background GLOW with firey red. Disclaimer: Yes, we are vendors, and yes we can provide these services - but what we post is FACT. We see brides being over-charged every day by the chapel's photography services.

  3. The Mandalay Bay buffet is very good - nice selection, etc. I don't know what percentage of guests your 6 kids represent, but if it's a small party, I'd consider Excalibur's buffet instead... food is still good, it's less expensive, and more kid-friendly. If you are concerned about the kids, then FireFly is pretty much "out".. FireFly is more upscale...
  4. About 50% of the weddings that we perform at have 40 or less people. Most have a great time, dance, etc. but the main reason for getting a DJ is so that you can have a "host" at the party... someone to keep everything moving, announce special events, etc. It also makes it so you don't have to spend all the time making iPod playlists, etc. etc.
  5. That's cool, didn't intend on trying to change anyones mind Just a neat option at a nice place, for cheap! Hey did you ever find a place for your dinner? Did you talk with Kathy at Cheeseburger?
  6. Welcome and good luck planning. Obviously I doubt we could do anything for you here in Vegas but if you're ever in town then look us up... look in the Vegas section for "Ask The Vegas Resident" or PM us if you need any advice, etc.

  19. (mods: permission to re-post this in edited form was given by Tammy) We recently were able to take photos at a wedding at the Tropicana. This alerted us to a special that they are running. It's a "walk-in" special for $99 (I think there's a minister fee on top of that but still $99 for the chapel is great!). Being walk-in, there is sometimes a wait, but during the week it's usually "a couple hours" at most (according to the person at Tropicana). Also, their $150 fee for bringing an outside photographer in is WAIVED for this special, meaning you can bring an outside photographer (who are almost always less expensive and who give better service than the "chapel photographers"). They don't have a lot of details on their website but here's the link: Las Vegas Weddings - Tropicana Las Vegas Wedding Packages and Chapels Also as in my previous post, we posted links to several photos of the wedding... the Tropicana website doesn't really have a lot of photos of the chapel and the grounds around the chapel so to help the brides we are posting some of the photos that we took. We hope this will give you a better idea of what the place looks like. Inside: Inside: Outside in their gardens: And one also in their gardens that we did some "special processing" to, this was on request of the B&G for this type of processing... we know some may not like the processing but they did!
  20. I think that's a great choice. The one thing I didn't mention is that while you get a good selection of food at Firefly, each serving is pretty small. Don't worry, you won't be hungry, but one thing everyone at my table commented on was that the plates they bring sometimes didn't have enough for the entire table to share. There were 6 at our table and a couple plates only had 4 or 5 "units" of whatever food they were serving. Another place that just came to mind is Pampas at the Miracle Mile Shops. It's a Brazilian restaurant... and they do that thing where they bring giant pieces of meat and slice it for you as they serve you. Now THAT is cool. We took my parents there while they were in town and they loved it (they are picky, too).
  21. WELCOME! You'll love getting married in Vegas! We actually just did the DJ work at a reception about 3 weeks ago at Joe's. It's really really nice! Food is great, the staff is wonderful (I got a chance to meet the new manager and she is very nice). The "circular" room with great views is the icing on the cake. I'm pretty sure this bride used Caesar's photographer to follow from the ceremony, but Joes does allow "outside" photographers, which is ALWAYS the best value and service. So, look into photographers other than the in-house ones... even if it's not us... they are always less expensive, and always give better and more personalized service.
  22. You can right-click on the picture in Picasso and then click on "Properties". Where it says "Address" just highlight and Copy (Control/C). Then on this forum when you make a thread or a reply, you click on the little icon that looks like mountains with a sun and a window will pop up... paste the URL into the box and hit OK. I would also be appreciative if you would send me the link to your album (you can send me a Private Message if you want), I'm really curious to see what they provided to you!
  23. In the Vendor Rules for Photographers, this is what it states: "*the subject is a Destination Wedding (ex. photogs - do not post great pics from a wedding in Georgia)" So by that statement, I have to assume that no weddings in Georgia can be "destination" weddings?
  24. Welcome, and if you have any questions at all (even of not wedding-related) please see my "Ask The Vegas Resident" thread in the Las Vegas area!
