My biggest fear is that everything would come out horrible and than I would have a melt down. Hey Jesmcan, I had my hair and make-up done at the Royal. I was pretty happy with what they did even though it wasn't the look I originally wanted. The weather had a part in making me change my look at the last minute. My MOH and I both booked trials at the resort salon two days prior to the wedding. I would do the same, if I were you. It wasn't expensive at all and worth it, I think. One thing I didn't like about my appearance was how 'shiny' I got but that had a lot more to do with the heat than the makeup.

The minister was on time, and I was with my parents, maid of honour, and man of honour in our room waiting for the WC to let us know we can walk out.. I'll ask DH if he knows why there was a hold up.

Hey jesmcan, we had 31 guests in total and the dance floor we had was perfect in size for our group. I'm sure they can make it bigger if you have a larger guest count. PS: you're gonna love Ivan!

I just dont know how long our cocktail reception should be, an hour or 2? and how long it takes to get the group family shots and wedding part shots. Thanks guys! Adriana Erazo Royal Playa del Carmen April 23, 2010 Hi Adriana, our ceremony was scheduled for 4pm, cocktails for 4:45 to 5:45 and dinner for 6. The day of, the ceremony started late (4:15), cocktail hour started on time, and dinner was pushed back to 7 because of photos. If you're doing photos, prior to the ceremony, 1 hour cocktail should be enough, but if you're not, I'd go with the 2 hrs. As was suggested, you could always still do a 1 hr cocktail and have the guests go to the resort bar, etc...

Depending on what package you pick, I would most definitely recommend booking other outside vendors. Our package included a musician for the ceremony and the mariachi for dinner so we didn't book 'outside' vendors. If your package doesn't include the musicians, I would not book through the resort. I had read (earlier in this thread, I believe) that the SAME mariachi band could be booked for much less if you do it directly.

I LOVE TTD photos, but I'm not sure that I would want to actually trash the dress. Hi loanmao, Elizabeth is on the pricier end and because of that, we went with a 'paired down' package. We booked her for 8hrs (2pm - 10pm) 'cause we wanted as many photos as we could get. We didn't go with the table book or the TTD session. When I mentioned doing a TTD to DH, he didn't want one and to save money I agreed. Now, looking at some of the TTD photos on this forum, I kinda regret not doing them. I don't blame you for not wanting to actually 'trash the dress'. I think many brides get a second dress they don't mind destroying for this purpose. I haven't seen any of our photos from Elizabeth yet but she mentioned we're next on her blog so I'm hoping we'll see some this coming week! If you have any other questions, please let me know!

What are you using BDW to procrastinate from?

Right now? Housecleaning and laundry. -
For those brides-to-be debating booking a DJ, just wanted to say (in case you didn't know) the DJ is significantly cheaper if you book directly with him versus going through the resort. If you can swing it, I would HIGHLY recommend booking him. Ivan was FANTASTIC!!! Guests are still telling me he was the best DJ they ever heard at a wedding.

I want a photographer that I really feel comfortable with and can have fun with. Can't wait to see your pictures I thought Elizabeth was fantastic! She and her assistant/daughter were very personable and lovely to be around. She had this knack of blending in so you didn't notice her snapping away yet when it was appropriate, she was able to command attention when she wanted a certain shot (group photos). She was great with some of our guests who went to her with 'ideas' for photos and a pleasure to have around. It was one of the best decisions we made booking Elizabeth.

Post Groom and GM attire
TightyWhitey replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
DH went custom with his suit, so we started in March for our May 29th wedding. Our GMs went with Tommy Bahama shirts and Tommy Bahama/Banana Republic pants. We waited until they were on sale. Shirts and pants were purchased between January and May. -
