  1. Hey everyone! I'm a 2014 bride also. We just got engaged, but I feel like I've been mentally planning my wedding for the 5 years we have been together. We have always wanted a destination wedding, and after pricing out venues at the beach here in NJ, we just simply can't afford to do a full blown wedding here. I am sooo excited to get started with the planning process. We are thinking about Jamaica or another island in the carribbean. Can't wait to hear about everyone else's planning!
  2. Out of all the costs associated with our wedding, photography is #1 on our list. My Dad used to shoot local wedding photos almost 30 years ago, and still does sports photography for a college closeby. I learned to look at photos in a different way, to see them more as a story, versus a single shot. Although I can never be nearly as good of a photographer as my Dad, I also love to take my own photos that capture a feeling or certain atmosphere. Having a "photographer" in the family also puts extra pressure on me, as I try to choose a photographer that will be able to answer the questions I know will be coming from my Dad. Questions about equipment, knowledge, and background. I hope that my photographer will be able to laugh along with my Dad's silly questions, but also be able to back up his reputation with great skills. I want my wedding photography to take everyone's breath away, as I know quite a few of my invited guests won't be able to actually be with us on our special day. These photos will have to visually tell the story of my BIG day to those who were unable to attend, and I want them to feel like part of the wedding, and get the true spirit of the love that Joe and I have for each other and our families. We may not have a huge budget for our wedding, but these photos are an investment in our future, and a way to bring us back to one of the most happy moments of our lives.
  3. Hi Everyone! Back in 2008, I became a member because I always envisioned a destination wedding. I wasn't engaged, but enjoyed reading other's stories of happy weddings and engagements. Finally...I can post that I'm engaged and ready to begin the planning. I posted here in Newbies since it's been awhile since I've looked at the site, but I can't wait to share in everyone's happiness and plan my own big day!
  4. Wow! Everything looks amazing!!! Great job..you really went the extra mile for your guests!
  5. I was a guest at Secrets St. James back in August. You will love it! The food was our only drawback, but that could have resulted from the Executive Chef being out the week we were there. It wasn't bad, just not great. We expected better. But the ground were gorgeous, the people and staff are super friendly, and we met tons of other couples that we had a blast with! I have no doubts that your wedding will be great there
  6. Although my BF and I haven't gotten engaged yet, we share a bank account. It makes things really easy for me planning things financially, but it doesn't leave my BF with a whole lot of ways to surprise me. I"m thinking he has some tricks up his sleeve, and now I wait! He told me it's happening this year....I just have no idea when
