Tip to those using ipods for reception music
FutureMrsLewis replied to beachbride08's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Okay, Apple officially sucks (Well, not really, they're just really mean). It can be done, but it's a bit complicated. You can burn the files to a CD, then when you import it into itunes you can choose to import them as an mp3 file, OR you can use a converter/encoder. I use Lame encoder as part of a ripping pack I use to convert CDs (.wav files) to high quality .mp3 files, and it would convert mp4 or AAC (file formats used for itunes) to .mp3 easily, but it takes a bit of computer savvy. I did a quick online search and I did find this: Convert iTunes to MP3 - iTunes converter, iTunes to MP3 BUT... I don't know ANYTHING about this software. It may be malicious, it may be completely harmless, I have no idea. But something LIKE this is your best bet. If you have some computer nerd friends, they can definitely help you find a viable solution, but unfortunately just using itunes won't work. Apple wants you to keep the file in its proprietary format, and won't allow any conversions -

You would need an encoder to do it, because it needs to be re-encoded into an mp3 format... I use Lame encoder to change files from .wav to .mp3, but that's a little more complicated lol Give me a minute to go and open itunes on my laptop and I'll try it out -

If I had to do mine only once a year, it would be disgusting by the end of that year (kinda like it was when I got it re-done a few months ago, I had waited a year and a half before getting it re-done). So I think for those of you that are getting them done once a year, you must have a thicker coating than mine, because mine would NOT last that long before looking dull. So every 4-6 months, pretty much whenever it gets dull again, I'll be sending it back in Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being too crazy about it getting dull lol

I like the "fun" ones. They're fancy, but not too fancy The traditional is, well, traditional lol It's a typical monogram, and the contemporary is very simple. If you're having a traditional wedding, then obviously the traditional logo. If you're having a very simple wedding with clean lines and just very modern, then go with contemporary. If you're having a simple, but still that touch of elegance at your wedding, then go fun That's why I like that one the most, because my wedding will be simple, but that little touch of elegance

If you don't want to pay for a Bose system (which is an awesome brand btw), then go to a store where they can let you test the system. I actually used to work at The Source by Circuit City, and we would test systems all the time for customers, and we had a store brand, Centrios, that made an AWESOME sounding system, we didn't sell Bose, but it was the best sounding system we had in store, it definitely beat out iHome, iSymphony (the smaller sytems, not the full-sized), Plantronics, and Vestalife. Now I will also add, it was the ONLY one made by Centrios that actually sounded good, the others sounded like a tin can. But your best bet is to go to a store where the systems are open and operating and bring your ipod and test it. And ask if you can turn it up Most stores will let you, just make sure to talk to a younger associate, because some of the older ones think there's no need in playing it louder. Plus, systems sound different when they're on low volume vs. high volume It can sound "tinny" on low, and "rumbling" on high, or it can sound perfect low, but crackles when turned higher.

Sounds complicated, but it's not. Just take any songs already on your computer, load them into your itunes library, then transfer from the library to your ipod Hope that helps! -
Three times a year sounds about right... So every four months, which is about how long it takes for the plating to wear off the one I have now Awesome! I thought I was just being crazy by wanting to do it more than once a year, I didn't want to take complete advantage of the free platings (even though they are free )

I searched to see if this has been mentioned in a previous topic, but no luck, so I'm going to create one of my own As some of you may remember, I had quite a fuss with my pink topaz e-ring a while ago when I thought it had faded, only to find out that it needed to be re-plated with rhodium to make it all sparkly again (and it looked fabulous when I got it back, I must say ) Anyway, it's been a few months, and it's starting to look dull again. I have a lifetime warranty on the ring with the jewellery store where I bought it and I can get it re-sized and re-plated whenever I see fit. I'm just wondering, how often should I get my ring re-dipped? Is there such a thing as getting it done too often? I was thinking once a year, but it hasn't even been six months and it's beginning to dull again, so maybe once every six months? I have no idea

lol Good one! And sadly, I can picture some of the people around here actually saying that lol

Holy crap, it looked almost identical to my little cousin when he was that age lol Very cute, I wonder how many young girls are trying their face with Justin Timberlake? lol

This really shouldn't bother me, but it does...

lol That's what would happen if I actually talked with her about it, I'd be like "Dammit! Why are you so stupid sometimes!!" lol I think I'm just going to add this to my list of "Why people are idiots", because no matter what anyone says to this girl, if I was to tell her to at least use protection and watch out for herself, she'd throw everything she knows about protection out the window just for spite lol -
Big Boobies- ala Beth the Bounty Hunter
FutureMrsLewis replied to jajajaja's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Some of the kids balls will kinda fold inside themselves so they make a shape like a bowl, that might work a little better and look a little more realistic (plus make room for your actual boobies to fit in lol), then if you cover them in some thick nylons or something like that, it should look alright. -

Thanks guys. I guess the reason why it's been getting to me is that she was like a little sister to me when we were growing up, especially because we were both so close in age and we spent a lot of time together and even went to the same school. It's not that I really disagree with her decision and hate her for doing it, I just think she's an idiot. If birth control didn't exist or was taboo as it was many years ago, I could see it happening for a second time, but she already had one child (who is a MAJOR cutie I might add) so it's not like she doesn't understand how it's done lol But with that said, I don't hate her for anything she's ever done, and I never will, I was just frustrated that she got herself into that situation and needed to vent that frustration. I couldn't vent to anyone in my family, because they'd burn her at the stake if they could, and FI just replies with "She's an idiot, stop talking about it." So I just really wanted to get it off my chest... Thanks for listening -
Hmm... I honestly have no idea, but I'm going to have to say: Mrs. - Becks (I've already declared I'm dedicating my wedding to you lol God love ya for all those templates!) B2B - Harty (You simply kick ass girl lol)

Before I start on my rant, I'm going to warn everyone that in my rant, I'll be talking about abortion, which is a very controversial issue, and if you REALLY disagree with it, don't read any further. I'm not looking to upset anyone, I'm just trying to wrap my brain around what's going on... Okay, so if you're still with me, here's the "as the stomach turns" drama going on with my cousin... My younger cousin, let's call her Katie, is 21. She had her first son after she slept with a guy almost 10 years older than her when she was in Grade 10, she was 15 when she got pregnant, 16 when she delivered. They broke up, as expected, and her parents and my whole family was very supportive and helped take care of the little guy as much as possible. Anyway, fast forward to August of this year, 5 years later. "Katie" finds out she's pregnant again by her on again/off again boyfriend. She's trying to get her life under control, she's going back to school in September, and the "boyfriend" flips out and says he doesn't want kids, especially not with her, plus she was partying and drinking every night before she found out she was pregnant, so she has an abortion. My parents and my two sisters FREAK, say that she should never be allowed to bear children ever again because she possibly took away the only grandchild that bf's mother may ever have... I actually thought she was very strong to make a decision like that because it's DEFINITELY not a good time for her, she's a single mother with a 5 year old, and she's only 21, plus she didn't want the reminder of her "bastard" bf. Anyway, I was a little upset because of the way my family reacted, they didn't want to see that this was an option for her because "she could have at least given it up for adoption!" Being pregnant would take away from her studies, she almost flunked out in High School when she got pregnant, and she was sick as a dog, on bed rest for the last couple of months before she gave birth. And when you're actually paying tuition, you don't want to have to do it twice. Plus, she had consumed a large amount of alcohol while pregnant, so the fetus may not have survived anyway. So skip forward to this weekend. She takes a trip to Nova Scotia to visit her "bastard" boyfriend and they get back together, happier than ever. I still think that her pregnancy would have ruined her schooling, but I don't feel as sympathetic toward her anymore. If they were going to possibly patch things up, and they really do love eachother, wouldn't they love to have a child together? I just don't know what to think of this situation anymore... I've always been pro-choice, because I think a woman should always have a choice, but I don't agree with abortion for the sake of abortion, there needs to be a good, valid reason behind it. I just don't feel like she had a good, valid reason anymore... I don't know, am I being silly? I don't even know why this bothers me, it's her life, but it just grates on one little nerve that I can't ignore...

Woman jailed after killing her online husband's...avatar??
FutureMrsLewis replied to MarieSam's topic in Random Thoughts
My question is, why was he so attached to an "avatar"? Couldn't he just go online and create a new one? Was reporting it to the police really necessary? -
My vows, what do you think?
FutureMrsLewis replied to trisha0612's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Those are absolutely beautiful And I love one of the online samples that you chose. I recognized it as soon as I started reading it, FI gave me a wall plaque with that poem on it during our first year together It's a beautiful poem, and it was definitely a good choice to integrate into your vows, and I love how you added your own touch to it and changed it around. Great job -
My (really, really) big to-do list
FutureMrsLewis replied to becks's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think I should dedicate my wedding to Becks lol Your templates are amazing! Awesome job! -
I would never be able to get rid of either of my two cats. My oldest is nine years old, and I can't even think about how she's going to pass away someday, because it makes me cry just thinking about it. I know it probably hurts to have so many people tell you to ditch FI, I just have to agree with them, because if he can treat your "furry" children like this, how will he treat your actual children? He may be a perfect father, but if he's not willing to give a kitty a little slack, your kids are going to HATE their father.

Dear Mr. Harper; Please don't screw up our country too bad this time around. There's a reason you didn't win a seat in Newfoundland, so think about that and try to treat us a little better from now on and MAYBE we'll vote for you in the next election when your minority ass is overthrown. Thanks, Me

I don't like regular tuxedo shoes, because I think they look like old man shoes, but there are some really nice shoes on that site that would actually work well with a tuxedo and could be worn every day too And you can't beat free shipping! Plus, they offer specialized women's shoes too, and a gorgeous set of pink shoes that I might wear myself
