  1. So my immediate family and FI's immediate family and my MOH are all on Mexicana. They are being told by the TA that they have to rebookon another airline and prices for that now since it's so much closer to the date, have doubled. How were you able to switch your guests to American? Did you have to pay the fare difference?
  2. I'm getting married at Dreams and am having Suzanne and her team come to the resort for us. I've spoken to her a few times and I have to say she is absolutely amazing with communication, organization and making me feel at ease. I haven't had the services yet so cannot speak to those. I'm going to her salon for a hair and makeup trial the day before the wedding just to ensure everything works well. Â
  3. Ya I've pretty much assumed anyone I haven't heard from, that they aren't coming. But then some people are still telling us they are trying to work out being able to come. At the one month before mark I'm shutting that down. Â Soooo I really should be doing stuff but I'm leaving Thursday night for Vegas and really that's all that's on my mind. Â I'm still trying to figure out flowers and our cake isn't organized, we haven't finalized our ceremony script, my brother is assigned to music and I haven't heard from him in terms of how the playlists are coming along, my parents were supposed to pick the wines, haven't heard back from them on that, FI still doesn't have his tie or shoes, but at least he now has a suit, he really wanted OOT bags but nothing has happened, so we're super set!!!! Â The weird part is I'm not really stressed at all?? WTF? Â We are doing our legal ceremony on the 1st here in Toronto. I don't think it matters whether you do it before or after though. I think it's a personal choice. Â Â Â
  4. It really shouldn't be a problem. Umbrellas at least traveling to and from the US are not listed as a prohibited item so I don't see why a parasol would be any different. The US and the UK have the most strict regulations so if they are ok with it you should be fine. You don't even have to put it in a bag it can be carried on separately.
  5. I'm a short dress bride! I knew from the very beginning that's what I wanted and picked it out online actually before going to try it on. I think personally it just makes more sense for a dw and suits the venue a little more than a big ballgown. Â Anyway this is the dress I got. http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=550&sfid=50679
  6. Hey Oct brides! I have been engaged for over 2 years and you'd think I'd have everything set by now but we leave in less than 6 weeks and I pretty much still have a million things to do. Go figure. Just wanted to re-introduce myself. Getting married at Dreams Los Cabos on Oct 10th. My current frustration is that we gave Aug 5th as an RSVP deadline and like noone sent back the RSVP cards. It's really not that hard all they had to do was check a box and throw it in the mail. Seriously. And lots of people keep telling us they are still trying to figure out if they can come and won't know until later. It's 6 weeks away!! And since it's so many people still trying to make arrangements it is harder to plan. I don't know if I'm having 35 guests (the amount currently booked) or 55. Anyone still not sure how many guests they are having? Â Â I wanted to do OOT bags but I don't even feel like ordering stuff if I don't know how many people we are having. Â Mostly I am just really excited about my bachelorette weekend in Vegas next weekend and don't feel like dealing with wedding stuff!
  7. Hi! Is the Jcrew dress still available? PM me if it is. Thanks!
  8. I'm in the same situation and I think I'm going to go with the suggestion of pink for the reception and ivory for the ceremony! My dress is short so I want to keep it a little more bridal for the ceremony.
  9. Hey, I don't think I have a fee for using an outside photographer, I asked about using one they said it was no problem and then I just sent Mariana the photogs email and she said everything was fine. I booked awhile ago though, so it is good just to double check so there aren't any surprises.
  10. Hey, we did a room block through Tammy and received a really good rate. Our guests are travelling from different cities so just booking their flights separately as many used points or aren't staying a full week. The Canadian tour operators would only quote us on a week long rate and the flights were only departing Monday-Monday or something like that and our wedding is on a Sunday so it wasn't the greatest. A few guests found a deal through westjet vacations and are doing that but most have booked using the room block which has been extremely flexible in terms of making changes etc.
  11. If you put them in your checked bags there will be no chance of a problem
  12. I think you should mention the option of just having people book their flight and hotel separate. I'm getting married there on Oct 10th and that's what we did from the beginning because the only package trip was Monday-Monday which didn't work for us because the wedding is on a Sunday. If people want to be there, they will be. Yes there is a connection but it's really not the end of the world. Our TA secured us a really great rate through the resort per night so you could try contacting Tammy maybe to see if you can grab a room block of 10 rooms? Not sure what rates you can secure 7 months out but it's worth a try. You just have to get people to get a deposit down asap. Everything will work out in the end, it's not your fault that they didn't book sooner you gave them advance notice etc. So those who want to be there will take a connecting flight.
  13. I feel that you should hold out and find what you really want. This is something you are going to wear forever. An extra $1000 over 50 years is $20 a year. That's how I look at it anyway. That being said I ended up getting a plain platinum band because my e-ring band is knife edge plat and I wasn't finding anything to sit nicely with it either.
  14. I don't know, I just eat whenever I get hungry. Which is probably every 4 hours. But everyone is different.
  15. Haha very true. Love the Natalie Holloway excuse to bail on a DW. It's ridiculous what people will say!
  16. I agree with having the ring insured for what it is worth. I obviously wouldn't want to pay premiums double what I would need to. However my policy states that they will write me a cheque for the full appraised value (which was twice what was paid) if something should happen to the ring. So I figure I will pay the higher premiums for a few years then likely just cancel it and self insure. Just makes me feel safer if I left it somewhere when travelling or dropped it or something idiotic that I've been known to do.
  17. I think mine was actually appraised at double what my FI paid for it because the diamond wasn't in the setting when it was appraised. I would definitely have a second appraisal, if you were to lose it, you wouldn't even be able to replace it! the only thing I can think of is that the $1000 difference is sales tax or something like that which wouldn't factor into the actual cost of the ring. Goodluck!
  18. Great info. I think I'd like to have a 'rehearsal' type dinner with our small wedding party and immediate family the evening before. It would be for about 15 people so I wasn't sure if they would want to set up a private event for a group that small. I don't mind paying the $29 pp though to ensure that we can all sit together etc.
  19. Cindy, we are both from Toronto, both getting married in October and both at Dreams Cabo! Awesome. Congrats on getting booked! Are you doing flight and hotel separately? Flights are a lot more than they used to be from Toronto to Cabo so we were kind of disappointed but nothing we can do about it now!
  20. I just brought my mom, but I'd already picked out what dress I wanted online first. I only went to one store and I tried like 5 on (mostly for my mom's benefit) and ended up getting the one I originally wanted. Super simple and easy. From what I've heard though it doesn't always work out as nicely as it did for me! I think though, my advice would be to definitely look a lot in magazines and online first to have an idea of where to start. I think a lot of brides end up getting something completely different than they thought so also go with an open mind, and be willing to try things the salesperson suggests. Sometimes they just have an eye for what looks great on your body type. I wouldn't bring more than 2 people though, you don't want multiple opinions clashing when ultimately it's YOUR decision and YOUR dress. Bring someone who's opinion you respect and trust. And enjoy it!! It's part of the fun of getting married.
  21. OMG that is really annoying! I agree with telling people to suck it! I guess though if she wants to invite people via website link then let her do that. Don't bother sending those people official invites they were clearly afterthoughts anyway.
  22. My understanding is if you have a symbolic ceremony, anyone can officiate, so maybe that's something you're interested in? Then get married legally in your hometown at a courthouse or whatever place makes it legal!
  23. I've been going to a bikrim studio for about 3 months and I love it. I tried out the Moksha over the break and didn't love it. I guess I'm just too dedicated to Bikrim! I definitely find as well that I eat drink tons of water during the day when I go so I don't feel dizzy and gross during class, and about an hour before I have a protein bar, and afterward I have an orange usually and that's it! So even that alone is probably cutting like 400 calories out of my daily eating. Plus the 90 mins of sweating and stretching has to be doing something. All the people in the class I go to are ridiculously fit and I see them there a lot so it must do something!

Does anyone actually have a Platinum ring that needed to be dipped? I've had mine 2 years and it's platinum and looks about the same as it did when I got it but it does have a few scratches on the bottom. I've never heard of dipping it though. I clean it once a week and then it's as shiny as ever after I do that. I do take it off though a lot like when showering and if I am going swimming or something like that. I don't know if that makes a difference.
