  1. Back from Dreams and wedding was amazing!!! Still suffering the shock of being back in the real world but as a very recent bride, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Also, my brother attended 2 other weddings while we were there because he is apparently the most social person ever, and he met people there and got invited to these weddings??? Anyway so I know a bit about recent weddings other than my own at Dreams!!
  2. We just returned from our wedding at Dreams in Cabo. We tipped probably a lot for everything but we really appreciated the service we received and Mexico is a country where it is customary to tip for services (from what we observed in the many vacations we've taken there). I think it's a personal choice however I'm not sure it's 100% expected. Tip what you feel comfortable with would be my advice. We found everyone to work so hard to ensure we were happy and we felt that significant tips were earned and our WC worked with me for almost 1 1/2 years and accommodated us in everything we wanted including last minute changes. Yes in the beginning the email responses were slower but they have so many weddings on the go that they give preference to them in order. As our date approached I would receive same day or next day responses. We didn't have one single thing go wrong and all due to our WC. Anyway, long drawn out explanation that it doesn't so much matter what other people tip just do your own thing and what you feel you should tip is what you should!
  3. Just got back from Cabo!!! Wedding was perfect. Wanted to wish fellow Oct brides happy weddings and congrats!
  4. I'm leaving in a week for Dreams and my wedding there is on the 10th...I will bring back some photos and any questions you have about the venues or whatever just let me know! I did do a site visit (however it was after booking and it was unplanned it just worked out that we last minute took a cabo vacay)...but it's amazing. You will love it!
  5. Some very different styles, I love seing what others picked!! They are all so gorgeous. I just picked mine up on the weekend!! Wedding is in two weeks yikes! Here it is... Â http://www.brides.com/fashion/dresses/gallery/wedding_dresses/vendor/detail/167129 Â
  6. Everything looks amazing!!! I'm stealing a photo for my hair inspiration I love it!!!!!
  7. I found when I was a year out it took about a week to hear back, and since there was no rush, it didn't really matter, now that I have less than a month to go I typically hear back within a day. So don't worry!
  8. I'm a little late to the game since my wedding is in a month but I just ordered these for my bm's about a week ago and just shipped it right to them and now they are set! Â http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/3129998?origin=category Â
  9. I didn't think I'd end up bringing a lot of stuff but it sort of seems like that is what is happening. I just plan to bring a ton of suitcases, and same with FI and I purchased a few things and had them shipped to a BM who lives in the US (shipping so much cheaper!) so she might have an extra bag to check possibly. Â For a lot of the OOT bag stuff we are going to make a costco or walmart trip when we get there. If it's stuff we know we can get there I'd rather just do that.
  10. I'm from Ontario and I still don't understand Stag & Dos. You ask people to come to a party but then pay for things? This is part of the wedding?
  11. Not going to lie, I am not of ill health, and I'm not old but I wouldn't want to stand for a 15 minute ceremony in the sun. Sure it's doable but it's not enjoyable.
  12. I stayed in Pedregal in March during Spring break. We rented a villa and they were pretty strict on the amount of people staying in the villa but other than that it was no problem. I think ours had a max of 10, and we actually had 13 people staying there but in the end it worked out. There were 2 other villas also rented nearby by other friends of ours. As long as you know the name of the house and the address they guard will let you in. We had vans of people going in and out at all hours (spring break) and it wasn't an issue. Also, one of the houses did get pretty destroyed, at least by my standards and I think they just didn't get their damage deposit back.
  13. I'm interested!!! I will take them! PM'ing you.
  14. Oh and I should add we are having about 40 guests.
  15. K I sort of just tallied up what the costs of everything are looking like. One month to go still though! Ceremony & Reception @ Dreams ~$2200 Flowers ~ $1600 Cake ~$350 Music ~$250 Photographer ~$4000 (with travel) Lighting, table linens, chairs, dance floor $2100 Wine ~ $1000 Favors & OOT bags ~$800 Rings ~$1500 Wedding dress and Groom outfit and accessories $4800 Bridesmaids and Groomsmen outfits (we paid we have 2 each) ~$1000 Hair and makeup 2 bms and me, hair and makeup trial for me, plus mani/pedis for moms, bms and me ~1500 Invitations & STDs ~$2000 Website ~$50 Our stay for 10 days (used points for business class flights) ~$2200 (I think but I cannot remember) Â Sooooooo that looks like about $25,350, if I added right. I dunno how some of you are doing it for $6K because I felt like we were being really budget. The good thing is we've been engaged for over 2 years so we paid for a lot of this stuff over time. Â Our honeymoon - We did our honeymoon actually before our wedding because the timing was better. And it was so completely out of control I'm not adding it up, I did an estimate, and let's just say it was ridiculous. Â
  16. It seems to me like you dont really need it if you just read over what you wrote, before clicking on submit. Just sayin.
  17. Oh yay that is so awesome!!!! Everything works out in the end. For us, the flight prices doubled...so people have to pay a lot more....which sucks but it's close family and friends and they understand that it's not my fault obvi. Â
  18. So all of our guests have now rebooked on different airlines except for my brother, because i'm apparently supposed to book him. Anyone who booked through the TA, she applied for the refunds for them and booked them on new flights. I dunno whatever. Mexicana blows...I'm over it.
  19. My parents rebooked on Westjet and they had booked their flights through our TA so she is applying for the refund for them from Mexicana. I just applied for a refund for my brother and his girlfriend since I had booked their tickets, and I think my MOH and her bf are doing the same and just all re-booking on AA. I called AA and they said they would honor the Mexicana ticket but only as a same day standby, which obviously is pretty useless in a wedding situation. Not sure what FI's fam is doing, likely re-booking on Westjet flights. So everyone is basically just booking again and paying more. Nothing really I can do.
  20. our flights are second week of october so unfortunately that doesn't help us. Also we were already all on connecting flights. I checked and the fare difference is $500 with taxes per person. Lovely.
  21. I'm honestly not sure there is anything that can be done. So I'm not getting stressed. From what I gather, they can apply for a refund and will need to re-book on another airline, and the price is double for my guests and it is what it is. There's really nothing I can do as far as I know. Â
  22. Ya...this is obviously not great. And seriously 5 weeks before my wedding as if I don't have enough going on. Guests should be able to get refunds...but the fact that they have to travel on dif days now and pay so much more is really frustrating.
