I am not too sure. I know you shouldn't store it in plastic though. I ordered mine really early too but it's not set to come in until May of 2010 so hopefully they adhere to that! I think something breatheable in terms of a garment bag is recommended for storing clothes. And maybe take it out every few months to air it out.

Erica I am glad you are being so strong. Remember we are always here for you You are doing whatever it takes to protect your children and keep them safe and no one would ever judge you for that! I had a conversation with my FI to find out how much involvement he wanted, so that we wouldn't fight about it in the future. He said he will do whatever stuff I ask him to do, he just wants me to have my dream wedding. So basically he was saying whatever decisions I make he will be fine with. Maybe it's just more that he doesn't want to interfere with the stuff you are planning and wants it to be your special day? I don't know guys are weird. Maybe ask him if you assign him a few things to do, if he wouldn't mind doing them? I am sure he will be happy to help out!

OMG I am pretty sure the exact same situation has happened to me, although I don't think over the wedding dress. But anyway, he doesn't think he should have to be sorry for expressing the way he feels. You should get whatever wedding dress you feel the best in, and don't even show it to him!!! He doesn't need to see it until your wedding day, and on that day regardless if it is his favourite dress or not, he is going to love you and think you're the most beautiful woman in the whole world! So leave him out of the dress selection process. Boys for the most part are completely clueless about how something will look until they actually see you wearing it.

OMG. All I can say right now is OMG. Rach that is really crazy. I don't have experience with that but I have thought a lot about it after seeing that Stop Loss movie (I know that is cheesy, it was a movie) but it's true. The movie really affected me. I thought about all the people who experience this and it makes me so sad and almost to tears. I really hope it's a mistake and everything works out for you. 8 years is a long commitment and that should be recognized. I hope you can try and relax this weekend and try and find out more next week. I don't know you but I am going to be thinking about you and your FI and I know everyone on the forum is here for you and willing to help out. Maybe if it's not a mistake there will be a way for him to get out of it. I think you have said the right things to your FI and maybe when he has some time to process it and think about the next steps he will be very appreciative of your love and support. You will get through this!!

They are 100% worth it. Those shoes are amazing and I want them too!!! Don't think about what they cost, just include it in the total cost of your wedding and it will get buried in there and you won't have to stress about it! If you think about what else you spend $400 on for a wedding in the grand scheme of things it is not even that much!! It's totally justified, don't look back, just look forward to the most amazingly pretty shoes you will have for your wedding!!!!!!

I think your plan is great and it seems totally doable. If you see a great deal, just get on it, and then see if the planner there can set it up. If it's just the two of you and you are flexible in terms of weddings times I see no reason why you can't make it happen!!

I haven't yet had my DW yet, but I did buy my dress. I didn't think I was the big princess dress type of person, and I know that if I wore a big dress and was hot, I would be irritated and not have a great day. So my personal choice was a compromise and I got a wedding dress that was short! But it is still very much a wedding dress. I know I will just be more comfortable. And after spending that much I want to wear it the whole night, not change after the 15 minute ceremony or whatever. I think it's a matter of what makes you feel comfortable!

I had figured that my FI's grandmother who is 80 wouldn't be able to come and I know that will be so hard for FI. I would also love to hear how anyone was able to incorporate an elderly family member. His grandma is 80 but is mobile and fairly healthy. I worry mostly about enduring the long flight.

We are getting married in 2010 so we have a bit of time, and my FI went back to school for these 2 years so it won't be as easy as I'd hoped. But I have a certain amount that goes into my savings account each month...and we hope to just spread the costs out so when we have to start paying for things, it won't be a huge hit. I did already order my dress and put a deposit on that, and then the remainder is due at first fitting, and then pickup. So I am just hoping to spread everything out!! Also, I have a credit card with points and I put everything on it...and then accumulate points towards our honeymoon!!

Hi, I visited a few stores in Toronto and they all suggested I try white or ivory bridesmaids dresses to get something that is more 'destination-y' and also cheaper.

I only want immediate family and best friends to attend. But my FI kind of wants to invite a lot of his friends. So I don't know. But I wouldn't feel bad about not having a lot of people there, you should celebrate with those that you want!!

Wow, interesting question! I am not sure really I think you should invite your closer friends and family to a DW so perhaps that is appropriate if you are inviting co-workers? I work for a small company of 16 people, and in the summer we all went to one of our colleague's wedding. But I don't think I will invite anyone from work to mine, mostly because people cannot be away from the office at the same time! But I don't think people would be offended if they do not receive an invitation to a DW since it is a fairly large expense to travel there.

Definitely mention to your accountant if you have bought a home, or are planning to! As an accountant, I will be adding it to the list of questions I ask my clients. A $7,500 credit now is fantastic and depending on your situation, the yearly requirement to repay is just added to your taxes and more than likely can be absorbed if you have enough withholdings from your pay checks.

Wow that is so out of line. Who does that? If it were me and one of my friends did that, I'd say since my wedding location is so boring to you, you are no longer invited. That is so incredibly rude I can't believe someone would do that!

I do not have any photos to help out but just thought I'd see what your thread is about and I think seeing photos of real girls in dresses is such a good idea. It really helps! I also have to say that the dress you love is absolutely gorgeous. I am in love with it! Too bad I already bought mine. I found I tried on several different styles to see what looked best. It doesn't matter how much you like the photo, when it is on you you might not like it so much! Happy dress hunting!

I should have enforced that rule! But then I thought about it, and we basically each tell each other what we want (sometimes even go shopping together) and the other person buys it. There isn't as much fun in that! Which is why I figured, we should each just buy ourselves stuff we want, and do one small surprise gift. He then ruined that by getting me the personal trainer! (Which I am happy about though).

Hehe I like the G-raj. That is so funny! I have no idea what to get FI this year. He has everything. Anything he wants, he buys (he is a student now so this irriates me but whatev, his money). I had the idea for us to just do a small surprise gift for each other, like under $100. Since we are going on a cruise right after and also we spend a lot travelling back and forth to Boston as we are long distance right now. But then he went and got me a personal trainer (I always wanted one). And that was effing expensive. So now I don't know what to do! I know he doesn't expect anything big, but all the things I was going to get, this professional camera, GPS watch, thing to watch movies on his blackberry, 2 new suits, he went and got on Black Friday. So now I have no ideas.
