  1. I hadn't heard this song yet, but I agree! It's a very good song.
  2. Here's what we're planning for the men. Haven't entirely finalized it but FI and I both like these the most so far. They are from Paradise Clothing Company Hawaiian Shirts - Hawaiian Clothing - Aloha Shirts - Hawaiian Dresses Groom: Groomsmen:
  3. I think both are beautiful but I voted for the first one. I think it looks absolutely fabulous on you. However as many others have said, you have to go with what you feel. As someone else mentioned too, it's worth finding out if you can get the lace-up put in by a seamstress. I was that girl too I always imagined having that corset back and of course the dress I found and fell in love with was zippered. So I talked to the seamstress I knew I'd be using to find out if she could alter that and she said there'd be no problem! So if you're leaning towards the first in style but not loving it because it's missing that dream detail, it's definately worth talking to a seamstress about! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you go with! Enjoy tomorrow!
  4. I'm not a photographer, but like some others have done, I'll throw in my thoughts. I'm doing a dark blue with yellow, but also considered dark blue with a lime green which I've seen before and looks great. Aside from loving the color, I went with the dark blue so that the bridesmaid dresses could be a darker color and possibly then be worn again for special events or a night out on the town. Hope your color decision comes along smoothly! Good luck!
  5. I feel for you! I've had many "wall" moments throughout the entire process. I think a lot of my problem is there because FI seems so carefree about it all, like it happens magically (umm...I wish), bridesmaids are all single, but they're my favorite people in the world..but the two of them have always been single (one being my sister who's frequently criticizing me) and the third just went through a divorce. FI and I also just relocated 10 hours from anyone I know for his new job which has made things stressful for us both. Planning has been quite a bit more stressful for me than I ever imagined it b/c my dad can't shut up about our decision for a destination wedding even when I try to explain to him that this is saving us a lot of money and he gets a vacation that he'd NEVER take otherwise but really wants to. Top it all off with another friend planning a wedding 2 months after ours who is a little on the bridezilla side expecting me to drop everything to care for and come up with ideas for her. Haha, that part I guess makes me a little more relieved about the move! I think that these feelings come around and happen to almost everybody. Hang in there! It's great that we all have a place like this that we can get it all out with those who we know are going to be supportive. As others have said, don't push yourself through it half-heartedly. Take a breather, recover yourself.
  6. The DB I went to had no problem getting me in a dressing room on a Saturday w/o an appointment. Haha, in fact, so much so, that I didn't even get my own chance to browse through their dresses. They basically shoved me in a room with undergarments and brought dresses to me. When they asked what I've been liking that I've tried on elsewhere they'd perk up, say "I know just the dress" and then bring something highly unlike what I described. My mother, sister, another bridesmaid and I were in complete shock. The dress I was finally impressed with was one that my sister and other bridesmaid found, not the sales clerks. Then later, came to find out that this one was double in price of the dress I had found earlier elsewhere and at no more than equal quality. On the other hand, we did get the bridesmaid dresses here as well, and with that, I didn't feel so pushed and thought it went well. I imagine that part has to do with my personality and not appreciating the pushiness. I only hope that not all have such a difficult time with their own local DB's. Lol, for me it was one crazy experience.
  7. We went with wedquarters.com and paid $30 for a year. So far we're very satisfied with it. Here's the link: April Berndt & Michael Gregoryk's Wedding Website - WedQuarters
  8. So very sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself. You and your family will be in my prayers.
  9. What a great idea! It looks awesome. I'm sure your girls will love it.

  11. Finally, I get to post pics of myself in my dress! I had my first fitting with the seamstress over Christmas and my best friend took a couple pics for me! It has to be taken in a pretty good amount and then I'm also having the train shortened to a sweep train. It currently has a zipper back that is going to be converted to a lace-up. I'm so excited to see it with the alterations!
  12. Hi! I hope you find what you are looking for! Here's a dress I tried on when I was searching. It's a David's Bridal dress. I think it's a gorgeous dress however I found one that was more "me" at a local shop that I knew more was the one. This one also, I found out later when looking at their website, was out of my budget, but maybe it fits in yours if you're going somewhere with a David's! It doesn't look real similar to the one you posted but it is a gorgeous lace. David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns SY9501 Lace trumpet with tulle overlay and beaded lace appliqués. Good Luck!!
  13. I can completely understand the dilemma of bridesmaids being completely different sizes. I was hoping to get their dresses at the same location I found my dress because then they'd get 15% off. However, because of the sizes of two of my girls, particularly the one (a 24 and a 16), it was basically impossible for them to try anything on. In turn, we went to David's Bridal and I let them pick out what they liked on them all in the same color. Here's what we went with and they look great together and better yet all three look great in their own dress! Best Friend's Dress (the 24, a busty girl, very flattering on her to give you an idea): Sister's Dress (the 16; the flowing material of the dress hides the curves she's uncomfortable with): Close Friend's Dress (She's a size 4 and the dress looks great on her petite frame):
  14. Wow! I love reading what everyone does for a living! Such a wide variety! I am currently an Assistant Teacher with Head Start. What I want/hope to do with my degree (Child Development and Family Sciences) is developmental screenings on infants and toddlers. It may soon happen if the opportunities are available as FI and I will likely soon be moving as he is 1 1/2 months from graduating as a Mechanical Engineer and received a great job offer for pretty much anywhere in the US! I'm excited, I love working with the preschoolers, but it's a very exhausting environment.
  15. I love all the stories!! I, too, have a strong hunch that I will be crying at my wedding! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who cried last night and cries even during some sappy commercials!! Haha, FI and I went to The Zack and Miri movie...yeah, cried toward the end of that and it's an all-out comedy! Oh well. Like others have said, if I don't cry at the wedding, there's probably something wrong with me. I completely started crying when I found "the dress" as well.
  16. Oh my! I am so sorry to hear that you have to go through this with your dad! I realize that it can't be easy at all! Hopefully things will work themselves out...maybe your dad will come to his senses. I, too, am relatively new around this forum, but I know that you're in the right place to find a lot of great supportive people!!
  17. I voted Obama. As others have said, I believe in his healthcare and views on education. I, as another person said, am a teacher....of that early education bracket, and through the classes I've had, know how critical it is for children to be reached EARLY in their years. Research is even beginning to find that 4 years of age may be too late!! McCain has said he doesn't believe in Head Start because the children who participate are not ahead of those who don't participate a few years down the road. However, the goal of Head Start is to get those children at the same level. These are children who would be so far behind and struggling greatly if they hadn't had that experience. To see these children accomplish something they had no confidence in thinking they could is very rewarding. I hate to think about what could happen to them all if Head Start is unavailable to them. With the healthcare, when I was between graduating from college and starting my job, I had to apply for health insurance on my own and was denied for allergies and back pain! If I can't get health coverage I don't know what I would do, and I know there are millions of others out there who may be in the same boat. These are the primary reasons I voted Obama.
  18. Here is my dress, minus the black. I got it in ivory my first day trying on dresses. When I saw it in the mirror I just knew it was the dress. No photos of myself in it yet
  19. I just noticed that your wedding date is 2 days after mine! Maybe we'll see each other around!

  21. Great idea with the boxes!! I may have to keep that in mind! And I love your colors (mine too, are dark blue with yellow...exact shades to be determined)!!!
  22. I have been using BE for about 2-3 years now and have never been more satisfied with any makeup before in my life. Before I found this, I VERY RARELY used any foundation because I could not find one that suited me as I hate the feeling of makeup on my face. Even the more expensive brands that I had tried gave me that feeling. I don't get that with BE. I often forget I'm wearing it! I haven't broken out from it which I also found to be a plus. As others have said, I too, have went to sleep without washing it off, probably more often than not. I still do get an occasional breakout (more from stress I'm pretty certain), however, I also just started using the MD Formulations cleanser and moisturizer, etc, associated with BE and breakouts are even less frequent! I did just purchase the finishing veil from a brand known as Physicians Formula to see if it works as well as BE. Haven't tried it yet, but if it works as well, it is much cheaper. I'll pass on the word when I come to a conclusion!
