really? I had no idea that he might be the hotel photographer b/c I talked to him before they got a wedding coordinator. But now that you mention it, he did contact me after having talked to Anel at dreams. hmmm. I just received some pictures of the gazebo area and a couple of the beach that I will try attaching. The gazebo looks very pretty and not a 'typical gazebo'. I think its too small for my wedding though

Robs4848: I think your on your own with the photographer thing just like you would be if you got married at home. You would have rights to the resort photographer, if thats the route you wanted to go though. I dont think there is a way to see his/hers work beforehand though which kinda makes me nervous. I did talk to a guy down there that I know another bride is using in feb, I pm'd her for info and she sent it to me. His name is Fabian Lasala, he is in the huatulco area and very reasonable. Check out his websites and you can make up your mind from there! We still keep going back and forth b/w him and bringing a guy from canada with us. I love his price but Im just nervous of the quality of the prints. Hi girls!! Welcome to the forum! Its so great there are getting to be more and more brides! Jenluvsmike is heading down there Jan 16th-23rd for her wedding and I know she will have a big review with lots of pics when she gets back! And also, my sister (and MOH) will be there that same week staying at a villa nearby dreams for a friends wedding, and she is going to go scope out dreams one of the days and take lots and lots of pics for me. She will have wireless while she is there as well so as soon as I get stuff I will post them here! I hope Anel is able to get pictures sooner than that. All I have seen is the new ones on applevacations.com and some that a user posted on tripadvisor. Nothing of what I think we all want though, re: reception and ceremony locations. About the packages.. I know we are going with the ultimate wedding package for $2650 and we had to put down a $500 deposit to reserve our date (Dec 30th, 2009). Thats all we have done so far as obviously our date is pretty far away still

ok good! No, I know my wedding is far away so its definately not a priority, I was just hoping you were talking to her alot and able to get a hold of her b/c your wedding is so soon. That way I know later on, she will be ablet o get a hold of when its close to my date.. you know? So thats reassuring and im glad she has been there for you guys. I do agree that she is very good, adn I am glad we went with her too. I definately think you should get in contact with her Kimvdp! If you look under the one section like 'share your wedding/engagement story' There is something called 'wedding planning journal'.. its where everyone posts everything they did for the wedding, from the engagement ring, to their dresses, to their oot bags, etc etc. To show off your stuff and so other people get ideas too. have you ever looked at that thread before? Its pretty neat. Lots of great stuff. On a good note, we finally decided on our photographer! We are going with Rick Collins out of Vancouver. WE looked at so many dif options and when it came down with it he was the best bang for our buck.. AND we pay him in canadian rather than US like all the other photographers I looked at in the US and mexico. With our dollar being so crappy i didnt want to risk it. yay!!

kim- I got packages in august b/c we wanted to have an idea earlier on so we could give people as much time as possible to know how much they were needing to save. Our guests also were able to put down the $200 to hold that rate. I am probably the wrong person to compare with b/c we are getting married the most expensive week of the year (dec 25th to jan 1st). Your prices would probably more comparable to Andie or Jens. Either way, it was $2443 pp (double rate) from calgary. Like jen said, we are both using karen gill. She was really really great at first and now I havent heard from her in over a month now, even though I have been hounding her! So i am pretty annoyed b/c I have people who have been tryingto get a payment plan with her for 2 mths now to no avail. ugh. Jen - have you heard from her lately Are you going to be posting your planning thread soon? I cannot wait to hear all about your wedding and see your great review! Its so soon for you, esp with christmas right away, it will be here before you know it!!!

Hi Kimvdp! I dont think anyone has gotten pics yet.. Both Andie and Jenluvsmike's weddings are in the beginning of the new year though so if anything they would have the info. I keep checking the dreams site for pictures since its up and running, but have yet to see anything. As soon as I hear anything I'll let everyone know

Yes, Moet is the one! I also like a couple Tara Keely dresses that I have to go try on.. I still have over a year to go and keep going back and forth b/w strapless and straps but you looked stunning in that dress, so it makes me love it more! I think everyone has to have the same meal Jen. We were at a wedding of about 95 people at the Dreams Resort in Punta Cana this past January and everyone got the same meal. We were talking about that too and might go with the chicken instead of the steak b/c a)like you not everyone eats read meat (including some girls in my wedding party) and Mexico beef is quite different the beef up here. the prices are ridiculas. I am still not over. You are going to have to take a ton of pictures for us! I think I am going to send my sister over there and have her meet with the wedding coordinator on my behalf to get more info on spacing/size for receptions locations. I hope the garden or terrace can accommadate up to 100 people cause i didnt want to have an indoor recption, but i guess its not the end of the world. Jen - send me your wedding website again! I meant to save it but lost it and went to check on it and see how things were going and pics from your shower but i seem to have lost it.

I know my (and Jen's) TA has been in contact with the wedding coordinator quite a bit now so I would hope your TA will be in touch with her soon?! ok I have gotten three forms of information.. a questionaire, the wedding pkgs and the menus.. My TA is talking to the lady right now about photography and flowers etc. As soon as I get them I will attach them also. As you will see, things are pricey (menu wise). I was expecting quite a bit lower. It looks like this is the same pkgs as Cancun and after 20 people you pay $65 a head plue 15% tax, and 15% service, which is like $84.50 a head. anyways.. here is the info! She did email yesterday and say that she finally has a contact at the hotel and will be able to confirm our date. i am guessing that means she finally got all the package information regarding 2009 weddings? Pricing, menus, locations etc? Let us know! ps i tried on another 100 dresses this weekend and am still at a loss. I dont know how all you brides find 'the one' but I am finding it to be impossible. Luckily time is on my side, but since I have already been saying that for 6 mths, im starting to get concerned cause I can only say that for so long!

I have 7 bridesmaids, 4 in the US and 3 in Canada. For the girls in the US I sent them this little wedding cookie set (I cannot find the website for the life of me, but if you search google I am sure you will find something similar) that came put together in a cute box with a card that I got to write my own message on. They LOVED it. And for my three in canada I sent them all a flowers in my wedding colors. I couldnt find anywhere that shipped cookies to canada that were as cute as the US, so they got flowers with a message on the card.

I was talking with a girl on tripadvisor too who leaves on dec 26th for her wedding and she has all the info and said she would forward it to me once she had it all filled out? I have a feeling you guys will get yours sooner though. AS soon as anyone gets ANYTHING, lets promise to forward it to each other I really hope there is somewhere to have a reception other than on the beach?? Jen- my sister is actually going to be in Huatulco the same week as you for a wedding at a villa. I am sending her over to the dreams resort to scope out the area for me with her camera (her MOH duties! ha), and I told her you were there getting married that week.
