  1. Does anyone who watches desperate housewives know who the designer of the red dress Gabby wears in the Feb 8th episode is(EP 14) Its basically EXACTLY what I want for a wedding dress, and I cant find it anywhere online. Its red but i thought if I found a pic I could maybe have it made.
  2. Great stuff! Your pics are beautiful, you both look so so happy! Loved the colors of your bouquet
  3. oh and I just saw your from philly! I went to school there(Drexel), so three of my bridesmaids are flying out of there!
  4. You can do searches online now as pricing is available for both the resorts and flights now to compare. We are having our wedding in Huatulco at the Dreams resort and the pricing was ALOT cheaper in huatulco then the riviera maya which was just one more reason to go to Huatulco (not to mention none of our guests, and we are having about 80, have been there!). Then again, depends what kind of a resort you are looking for. Comparing the Dreams resorts in mexico, huatulco was the best deal for sure. There are a bunch of us communicating in another friend if you just search 'dreams huatulco'. Welcome!
  5. One other thing: Did anyone get pricing for extra person charges for cocktail hour (outside of the 20 included in the pkgs) or for extending the reception another hour?
  6. oops just realized you had your date printed on alot of things, duh, so ignore my changing the date comment!
  7. oh no I dont think you are technically 'double booked' b/c your having your ceremony and receptions in dif places (unless your both on the terrace or beach and that cant be right?!). But I know alot of dreams resorts have two weddings a day, I was at one in punta cana wher eit was the same thing and we were at the disco with another wedding. They guarantee you will be the only bride getting married at your ceremony/reception location of choice, but they dont guarantee you will be teh only bride that day/night. Could you move your date? or were you really wanting the 3rd? I dont remember another bride saying the same date as you, but hopefully she gest on here soon!
  8. Ok Im gonna try again.. I was trying to use the paperclip before - oops. I think I found my dress, the more I think about it, the more I love it! Very simple and plain (no beading or lace) exactly what I wanted. And it feels so light on, like icing!!
  9. There is another bride, jenluvsmike, who got married there on the 19th. I am sure she will be putting up a review on here soon, which might help you out a bit more, hearing her actual experience. We have the same travel agent and my TA had told me that Jen said her wedding was even better than she dreamed. I dont think you can go wrong with either resort personally, you guys will have fun no matter where you are!
  10. Hey Jawedding! I kind of was told the opposite of la brisas! I think that is definitely more lush for sure but the two hotels are completely dif. Dreams is more modern and simple and brisas is more the mexican style and its older. Its also very large with lots of stairs (which is why we didn't choose it, we wanted it to be easy to find everyone and also easy for our grandparents to get around). The restaurant selection is also smaller there, i think they only have 2 or 3 restaurants that are a la carte. And the beach at the dreams resort is supposed to be the best beach and has the best snorkeling around the rocks. So?! Im not sure what to tell you. We were looking at la brisas cause our travel agent recommended it, and it was cheaper, but dreams is definitely more 'us' and more our guests. And there will be a multiplex for sports at the dreams, its just not built yet! I would go onto the tripadivsor forum for huatulco, you can hear alot of peoples opinions on there. I would definitely say Dreams is the best hotel in huatulco for the money you pay, at least thats what we have gathered by all the reviews we have read. maybe im a little bias though?! haha.. but really, I understand where your coming from cause we laid out the pros and cons for las brisas, dreams and the barcelo.
  11. I LOVE THEM! How did you make your monograms?! I need serious help! I love yours, all of it from the flower to the style of font! Do you have a version you can send me and I can just edit it?
  12. I actually didnt even think about video. hmm. Cause I think all that is included is like a photo montage video right? At least thats all my friend got last year who got married at a dreams resort. Who does the video? did you get/see any more pics of actual weddings set up there? Oh and did you ask how they feel about/what they charge for us bringing our own decorations for the reception? Is there anywhere for htem to set up lights or paper lanterns?
  13. Thanks for all the info silver! I think we will be using fabian as well and upgrading the pkg! So glad to hear you really liked the resort and you reccommend it! I think we will be doing the same as you guys, ceremony on the beacha nd reception on the terrace. Probably the more private area of the beach for the ceremony too.
  14. Seriously? Well that is just riduculas. I was told something completely different so I want to see if i still have an email or something to show proof. It just doesnt make any sense. You don't pay extra at a hotel in a city, for guests who arent staying at the hotel, so why would it be any different on a per head basis at a resort? Ugh. Sorry I misinformed you! Silver & Jenluvsmike..... Lets see pics and reviews of your wedding (Jen) and hear about your meetings( Silver).. Im dying! on a dif note, I think I found my dress this weekend and I am soooo excited! FINALLY!
  15. Welcome Beth! In order to come over to the hotel and use all the amenities (restaurants, pools, bars etc) you have to pay $90(although i was told $80 i think). HOWEVER, I think as long as they are coming over just for the wedding, it should be free. Like if they come over just in time for the ceremony and then leave after the reception. Basically as long as all they are partaking in is what you pay for in your wedding ceremony/reception. Once the reception is over though, you guys will be back to drinking at the bar on your all inclusive plan at the hotel, so i think they would have to leave? I know there is a loop hole though with them coming over for free for the wedding. I agree its crazy to have a set menus for everyone.. We will have between 80 and 90 people and have to pick the same menu. I think we are going to go with the chicken, casue i think everyone likes chicken? Whereas some people dont eat seafood and some people dont eat beef. As for vegetarians, i think you should just be straight with Rocio and say your paying $85 pp for the meal, they can at least go out of there way to prepare one or maybe two veggy meals!!! I am sure they will be accommadating. Noone has gotten married there yet. Jenluvsmike will be getting back from her honeymoon tomorrow and will have lots to share with us im sure. and Silver is heading down there today to meet with rocio and fabian (photographer). So she will get alot of our Q's answered! CONGRATS and welcome
  16. oh and i meant, i dont think you would have to move to the disco, meaning you could probably go anywhere else (lobby bar etc)OTHER than staying on the terrace.. or at least thats what i gather.
  17. Jesse, I just sent you the pics I received for table center-peices. I dont think you would HAVE to move to the disco would you? I think we will move from the reception up to the lobby bar - on the patio side, so we would be outside. I hope they do change their minds about renting out a restaurant though. It would be nice if they had a place outside under a palapala (sp??) or partially outside.. or even just the terrace behind the lobby bar (which they said they cant do b/c there is no close kitchen access). Im sure silver will ask all the questions we are all having!
  18. I cant wait to hear what you all find out when you head down there this weekend Silver. I really want to know of the different options for the reception as well. I think Jen is on her honeymoon for a week so she wont be back until next friday but I bet she will have a great detailed review for us! And I agree.. I feel like something is missing too.. I love simple/classy/modern hotels but they do need some more flowers or shrubs. The grass looks sparse in the pictures and my sister did say that it was like that all over cause it hadnt all grown in yet. Everything is still so new that I am sure it will only get better as time goes on.

  20. thats actually what we are doing.. getting in on friday, getting married wednesday. I think you guys will be ok b/c you have to be there four days, not including the day you arrive, but including the day you get married, before you can get married. Apparently public holidays and weekends do not count in the four days though.. which is hard for us b/c we get there on the friday, which is xmas day, and then we have the weekend.. so i dont know if it will work for us or not we really want to get married legally there though, so hopefully they will let us get married on the wednesday...
  21. My sister just sent me alot of pics of the resort, and even a picture of her and my neice with Rocio. I fwd' them to the couple of you that I have your email addresses, but if anyone else wants me to send them to them. let me know! They dont have descriptions on them but there are alot, and she also took pics of the one part of the hotel that isnt quite completed yet.
  22. Hi Girls! Silver - did you receive any new pictures?! My sister is down in huatulco right now, her friend was getting married at a villa, but she actually ran into Jenluvsmike when they were out for dinner on saturday night! What a small world. She said Jen said to tell me that I have nothing to worry about, the resort is absolutely beautiful! My sister also was at the resort yesterday (on my behalf) with Rocio, so im eagerly awaiting her email and pictures. She will either send them to me today or tomorrow when she gets home. We re having a group of about 80 and are having our ceremony on the beach and our reception around the pool. Ang - there should be a ballroom to have your reception at? They do have one so if you wanted it inside, then most likely you would have it in there. I personally think the reception around the pool will be gorgeous and it will be at a time of night that there shouldnt be too many stragglers around. And if there is, whatever. Therei s also a patio bar off the backside of the lobby bar, which I think is where we will move to after the reception is over. We did this after our friends wedding at the dreams resort in punta cana and it was great. Oh, and about the weather. The weather is comopletely dif there (from what I have been told by people who have went there) than the mayan or puerta vallarta or the dominican. It does not cool down at night like those places and is very warm. IF you did get a little chilly, maybe a pashmina would work? Just some ideas!!
  23. What about nicole miller or jcrew? They have some nice dresses on a much better budget!
  24. Here are a bunch of pics that were posted on tripadvisor for the resort! The New Dreams Hotel Huatulco Mexico pictures from photos on webshots
  25. ok its saying 'invalid file' again.. send me a pm if you want me to send them to you.. again its just a couple.. 7 to be exact
