OMG That is so awesome!!! I am working with Cecilia now because Gaby was let go, so I must ask her about that discount. Thanks so much for letting everyone know. Just to make sure I understand correctly, you are having 3 hours and the illuminated dance floor...all for $880? Or is $880 just for the cost of the dance floor?

Congrats!! Dreams rocks, but dont get discouraged during this process. You may have problems getting the wedding coordinators to respond to emails, but nonetheless, they do respond and they are very good at what they do (based on all the reviews I have seen.) Anyways, welcome to the forum!

DJ: Mannia Cancun review
zorlack76 replied to Philly_Bride's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
I couldnt help to notice how rediculous some people sound on here. Does some noob with 8 posts have any business lecturing a member with 10 times more posts? WOW!!! Im sorry, I probably should have written this on another thread....... Circumstances dictate tactics...and in this case, I would be more than happy to hear what Michelle has to say. I didnt realize this thread was called "ONLY GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT MANNIA." Rather, it says, "DJ: MANNIA CANCUN REVIEW." Therefore, any price reviews that people want to post would be more than welcome, even if they dont make Mannia look good. -
Hahaha...ok people, dont think that Gaby is some great goddess I have Gaby for my WC and Ill share a little about my experiences with her. First, she takes a REALLY long time to answer some of my questions. The shortest amount of time I have waited for a response was about 3 days...which isnt so bad, but other times I have waited several weeks...even a month. Gaby also gave me the sound system for the ceremony to replace the photographer. I wasnt going to argue with her about it because I would have just gotten more frusterated. If I lose a little money because I made the trade, its no big deal. At least she didnt tell me that I CANT trade the Sound System for the Photographer...so I guess I am making out a little ahead. Gaby's answers are very short and not detailed at all. I understand she has a ton of weddings to book and plan, but a detailed answer the first time around with see to it I ask less questions in the future. Overall, I am happy with the outcome so far. I dont think she told me that Mannia is $300 per hour, but I booked last year so I prolly got a little better rates ($280 per hour.) Just be patient (as difficult as it can be.) And you are lucky to have gotten 9 questions answered. I normally ask 2 questions and get a half of a question answered Good luck to all!!

Bringing Sand Ceremony Home

Here's that section of our vows (they're still in the works) Separation of these grains of sand Cannot be done by any hands; They can never go back from whence they came- And so your lives will be the same- From this moment on you both will be As inseparable as this sand you see! What do you think? I think thats a cute poem. But I think of it more along the lines of how well my Mexican Officiant will be able to say the words. Just think in your head about how they would say the word "whence" or "inseperable." I laughed a little to myself...but then again, their English may be extremely proficient. I'd go with it, but have a backup plan just in case their accent is too thick. Also, try to hook up with them before the wedding and have them rehearse it to you. -
DJ: Mannia Cancun review
zorlack76 replied to Philly_Bride's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
You know, we are having our wedding at Dreams Resort Cancun. I contacted Mannia and he told me I would have to book him through my WC at Dreams. So I told my WC that I wanted Mannia, and she said that he is booked for me on my wedding day. Wierd. I have the contract signed and all the deposits sent to Dreams, but the contract doesnt specify that Mannia is doing the DJ'ing. What do you all think. Should I believe my WC if she said that Mannia is booked (even though I have not sent him a deposit?) Thanks all! -

Yeah, Gaby allowed us to trade the photographer for the sound system for the ceremony only. I couldnt get credit anywhere else on the package. You really dont get the full value when you trade services but it is one less thing you have to worry about!!

Bringing Sand Ceremony Home
zorlack76 replied to Natashak's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
OK, heres a different question for you all. It doesnt sound like anyone had a problem, but I was told by my uncle that we may have problems getting our sand into Mexico. He said if they search us at customs, they will take it away. Has anyone heard of this? Based on what I have seen and all the customs info I have read online, that was a bogus statement, but just wanted to make sure. -
Our Engaging Story

Thats cute. Congratulations and happy planning!! -
I live in Rockford, IL and I saw that meteor. I was working last night (this morning) and as I sat in my squad car, I was looking up and saw the meteor. I was like, "Holy Crap!!" It was not as big or defined as what the people in Canada probably saw, but it was the biggest meteor I have ever seen. It passed straight over me and looked like it went in a due north direction. It was so neat. Anyway, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

Dreams Cancun review 11-9-08 LONG!!!

I operated under the theory that it's my wedding and I'm going to use the vendors that I want. So I just booked all of those people and then told Gaby about it during our meeting instead of asking for permission (whoops). She didn't seem to mind. We sent a deposit for $795 to Dreams to hold our date, and also $535 to Mannia. Hope that helps! Ahh, thank you. That helps a ton. I am going to write Mannia back. Last time I emailed hm asking him about prices, he told me to contact Gaby or Claudia for pricing. So, maybe if I wave money in front of his fact he will want to do something about it Hahaha Thanks again! -

Dreams Cancun review 11-9-08 LONG!!!
zorlack76 replied to flygirl's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Holy Crap!!! It took me so long to read your review that I had to log in again because it booted me off That was a GREAT review. I am so happy you had a great time. All the details (except for flowers and such) seemed to work out perfectly. We set our wedding for 6pm...but it is in August. I am wondering if I should bump it earlier in the day (if Gaby will let us.) Did you have to book Mannia Cancun yourself, or did Gaby set that all up for you? Gaby sent me a contract which included a DJ for 4 hours, but she did not specify which DJ it would be. What kind of deposit did you have to give her? Just the $500.00? Of course, the email correspondence isnt working too well with me and Gaby Again, great review and there are going to be so many questions we all have for you. I hope you dont get tired of answering things for us!! -
Post Your Foot Attire
zorlack76 replied to cdc0427's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hahaha...we are in the same boat. I dont even know if we are wearing any foot attire because the ceremony and reception are going to be on the beach. But we certainly need to bring some footwear just in case. Anyone with pics of what you and your FI's are wearing would be great!!! -
Thats awesome!!! It will take some time to get decorated and just the way you want...possibly years....but it does feel great being able to call a new place "home."

Congratulations and best of luck to you and your new family!!

Laurine's Dreams Cancun Wedding Review 10-26-08
zorlack76 replied to dancingdolphin's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Im kind of interested to know what DJ you used too...and their cost. Gaby quoted me almost 1000 dollars for 3 hours of DJ...I think they use Mannia. Thanks so much for the review...I always love reading reviews of the resort we are getting married at. Congratulations also! -
Congrats and welsome. Theres tons of stuff on here to get your mind thinking about a bunch of different ideas!!
